Lu Ran came to this prison once again.
The air here was filled with a cold, damp, and musty smell. Coupled with the unpleasant memory of seeing Lu Ming here last time, she couldn't help but take two steps back as soon as she reached the door.
"What's wrong?" came the policewoman's cold voice.
Lu Ran composed herself, lowered the brim of her hat, and didn't want anyone to see her face.
She came here because someone called her and said that Dong Jielin wanted to see her. She didn't want to come at first, but after thinking about it, she decided to come and see Dong Jielin anyway.
Because she wanted to shut her up and prevent her from saying things she shouldn't in prison.
"Miss, please hurry up." The policewoman looked her over suspiciously. "Visiting time is already limited. If you're this slow, you won't be able to say anything you want to say!"
Lu Ran's heart skipped a beat. She looked up at the person and saw that the policewoman was also staring at her, her eyes, which held a complex expression, were half-smiling.
That look in his eyes...it was as if he knew her.
Lu Ran trembled and quickened her pace to keep up with the policewoman.
Upon arriving at the visiting room, Dong Jielin came out after only a short while.
She had lost her former arrogance; her face was pale and haggard, and her blue coarse cloth clothes were too big and unsuitable for her.
Upon seeing Lu Ran, a glimmer of light appeared in Dong Jielin's cloudy eyes.
"Miss Lu!"
She lunged at her like she was grasping at a straw. Lu Ran instinctively leaned back. If it weren't for the glass in front of her, Dong Jielin might have actually pounced on her.
The glass is soundproof; you can't hear what she's saying without a microphone.
Lu Ran couldn't hear what she was yelling, but seeing her flailing arms and legs, her hysterical madness, and the prison guard's fierce expression... Lu Ran bit her lip, feeling extremely uncomfortable.
"Miss Lu... Miss Lu!"
Dong Jielin finally calmed down a bit, sat down, picked up the microphone, and stared at her with wide eyes, "Ms. Lu, please help me! I... I don't want to stay here for another minute!"
“Dong Jielin,” Lu Ran’s heart pounded, “You made a mistake yourself, what can I do to help you? You brought all of this on yourself!”
"You..." Dong Jielin looked at her in disbelief, "Ms. Lu, you were with me when we stole the client information..."
"It's no use saying anything now!" Lu Ran interrupted her abruptly. "Don't forget, Chairman Lu is my uncle! He's already said he won't pursue the matter further, so he won't!"
"Lu Ran!" Dong Jielin lost her mind and shouted at the top of her lungs, then stood there blankly for a moment as if her soul had been taken away.
Then she burst into tears and almost knelt down before Lu Ran.
"Miss Lu... I beg you, please bail me out! I know you can do it! My crime could be serious or minor, as long as you plead for me, there won't be any problems..."
However, Dong Jielin was unaware that Lu Ran was hoping she would die in prison, so how could she possibly plead for her?
"That's enough!" Lu Ran suddenly stood up. "Dong Jielin, you should take responsibility for your own mistakes. Don't drag me into this! Also, I came here today to tell you..."
Lu Ran's voice trembled slightly with emotion, "You, watch your mouth and don't talk nonsense! Ha, you're inside, but your family is outside! If you dare to say another word, I'll make sure they suffer a terrible death!"
Dong Jielin stared in disbelief, the light in her eyes gradually fading.
Although she never considered Lu Ran to be a naive and innocent girl, she never knew that this woman could be so ruthless.
Dong Jielin suddenly laughed.
She laughed at herself for underestimating human nature and overestimating herself.
"Fine...fine!" Dong Jielin was dejected, her smile bitter. "Since that's the case, then there's no need for me to tell you the secret I was going to tell you!"
"What?" Lu Ran, who was about to leave, stopped abruptly upon hearing this, narrowed her eyes, and asked, "What are you trying to say?"
"It's just a secret."
"What does this have to do with me?"
Dong Jielin didn't say anything, she just smiled. Now the tables have turned, and the initiative is in her hands.
Lu Ran angrily raised her hand, but there was a layer of glass in front of her, so she couldn't hit her.
"Dong Jielin!"
“Miss Lu.” Dong Jielin curled her lips. “Since begging you is useless, then I’ll just swallow this secret… Heh, I suppose you’re not interested in knowing what the Chairman and Pei Nian’s relationship really is, are you?”
Lu Ran was shocked and looked at her in silence.
It has to be said that Dong Jielin hit her weak spot this time.
She didn't care about anything else, but she wanted to find out everything about Pei Nian.
Lu Ran slowly sat down, looking at Dong Jielin with a questioning gaze.
“Miss Lu,” Dong Jielin said calmly, “I will tell you about this as long as you can get me out of here.”
Lu Ran paused for a moment, "I promise you, but it will take time for you to get out. Why don't you tell me what happened first, and I'll definitely help you find a way!"
"real?"
"I will definitely keep my promise. First, tell me what happened to Pei Nian. I will find a lawyer for you as soon as I step out of this door."
Dong Jielin rolled her eyes.
In truth, she no longer dared to easily trust Lu Ran.
But she also hated Pei Nian; their feud had been brewing for a long time. Even if Lu Ran had lied to her this time, she could only accept her fate.
But if she could use Lu Ran to make Pei Nian unhappy, she would be quite willing.
She chuckled twice, looked up at Lu Ran, and said, word by word, "I heard you spread rumors the other day that Pei Nian was the old chairman's mistress? Ha... You're mistaken! Let me tell you, Pei Nian is the old chairman's illegitimate daughter!"
"What did you say?"
Lu Ran's mind went blank for a moment, and she almost lost her balance and fell down.
Dong Jielin emphasized the words "illegitimate daughter," and Lu Ran believed that it wasn't her hallucination.
"You..." she asked in a trembling voice, "How did you know?"
"Heh, Miss Lu, you really are quite naive." Dong Jielin sneered. "I've been paying attention to her since her first day here, because Zhou Nan brought her in. Do you really think someone who needs the sales director's help has no connections whatsoever?"
"Actually, at first, I also thought she was having an affair with the old chairman, but later I wondered if she had something shady going on with that young man."
"But later, I discovered a secret about her... she had a habit of keeping a diary!"
Lu Ran was taken aback. She had noticed this habit before. When they lived together in the Lu family, she would occasionally pass by Pei Nian's bedroom and see her scribbling something on the table through the crack in the door.
But Pei Nian was very alert; as soon as there was any movement at the door, she went over and locked it.
Dong Jielin continued, "I guess she wouldn't carry her diary with her, but would keep it in a very secret place. However, one time when she was working overtime all night, she didn't have her diary, so she wrote a few words on the computer."
"You...you saw it?"
“With all her cunning, how could she possibly let me see it?” Dong Jielin sneered. “But what she doesn’t know is that the computer she’s using… has been tampered with!”
