Chapter 51 The Inquisitor
"Master Duan Ke, do you really want to go to the Administration alone?"
The succubi surrounded Duan Ke and sat on the first floor of the banquet hall. Each of them had a worried look on their face, and they all tried to dissuade their lord.
"This is too dangerous, what if we get caught by the Inquisitor?
"Although you are very strong, that person... is too cruel and ruthless."
"Yeah, why don't we think of another way? Safety first, Master Duan Ke..."
According to the law of the jungle among monsters, monsters of lower strength rarely act against the opinions of the lord.
The succubi would unanimously dissuade Duan Ke purely because—
Duan Ke's plan is too risky.
The reputation of that judge in the demon world can be said to be unprecedentedly bad.
A surviving monster once revealed that the Inquisitor once killed more than 400 A-level monsters in one day during a military exercise.
Although the Inquisitor himself was nearly dead from his injuries, this was enough to demonstrate his incredibly strong combat abilities. Even against an S-rank, he wouldn't be at a disadvantage.
Not only that, he also likes to last hit and is very cautious.
Monsters killed by him, regardless of their level, were often shattered into pieces. Even the last trace of their demonic energy was destroyed, leaving no chance of resurrection. Losing meant eternal damnation.
How could the succubi allow their Lord Duan Ke to face such a person?
"It's really too dangerous, Master Duan Ke."
Even Xu Jue disagreed. He frowned and looked at Duan Ke, saying politely, "Why don't we consider other options?"
"Master Duan Ke, if you're desperate for information on that monster, we can go and search for it. It might take a little longer, but not too much. We don't have to risk going to the Administration."
Duan Ke pursed her lips, her expression looking somewhat unsightly, her beautiful pupils trembling slightly with fear.
Although he had tried his best to act natural in front of the monsters, it was difficult for him to completely suppress his fear of the Inquisitor with his willpower.
Duan Ke was a little shaken by what he said. He was really scared.
But after thinking for a few seconds, Duan Ke shook his head and said, "I'm going."
The young lord glanced around the hall.
His compatriots had too much magic power stolen by the mirror demon, suffering great losses, and they have not yet recovered.
Many succubi that had already transformed had degenerated into black balls, unable to even fly, and slumped on the sofa or bed. Those that could still transform also looked listless.
Even Xu Jue, the most experienced, had dark circles under his eyes and looked sleepy and had lost his appetite. He was forcing himself to stay alert and talk to Duan Ke.
His compatriots have been bullied so much. As the original succubus, how could Duan Ke let his subordinates work for him?
We always have to find a solution. The sooner we get a way to deal with that monster, the faster we can get everyone's magic back.
"Don't worry too much, I'm very strong now."
Duan Ke said, "I've fought that monster's clone before, and I killed it with one punch! I think knocking out the Inquisitor with one punch shouldn't be a problem either."
Of course the succubi knew about this, but they couldn't hide the worry on their faces.
The strength of the Inquisitor is far inferior to that of a clone, and they are completely not on the same level.
Duan Ke looked at everyone and sighed silently.
It seems that words alone are not enough to reassure everyone. Duan Ke thought for a moment, then reached out to roll up the hem of his clothes, wanting to show everyone the magic pattern he had worked so hard to eat last night.
When Qin Huai asked someone to run errands last night, he didn't buy a top for Duan Ke, but only bought some suitable underwear and shorts.
His coat was too big, completely covering Duan Ke's hips. Anyone who saw Duan Ke dressed like this would know that this coat was not Duan Ke's own, but someone else's.
Duan Ke held the corner of Qin Huai's clothes in his mouth. The clothes were too wide. He exposed his lower abdomen and motioned for everyone to see.
The surrounding succubi poked their heads out and looked over there in confusion.
Ancient red and purple lines, like tree branches, climbed on Duan Ke's delicate skin, vaguely converging into a heart shape in the middle.
From the soft flesh of her lower abdomen, all the way down to her waistband, the area had widened considerably. There was even a faint golden hue tracing the edges, flickering slightly under the ambiguous lighting of the hall.
The succubi were stunned at first when they saw the shape of the magic pattern, and then they all gasped and their eyes almost popped out.
“Wow.”
“Wow…”
“Wow…”
Exclamations rose one after another, each one louder than the last, like a musical.
Duan Ke had originally thought it was nothing, as who among those present didn't have this? But now, being teased like this, he blushed profusely, and hurriedly lowered his Qin Huai clothes to cover his belly, preventing anyone from seeing him.
"What are you all lamenting about..."
Duan Ke didn't know what to do with his hands. He grabbed Qin Huai's shirt and said, "Isn't this normal? After eating, the magic pattern will grow back on its own."
"But this is too..."
Xu Jue was so frightened that his voice became a little unstable, and all his sleepiness disappeared.
"Master Duan Ke, did your owner feed this all by himself? How long has he been feeding it?"
"Uh, all night?"
“……………………???”
All the succubi fell silent.
They stared at each other, their expressions a mixture of admiration, fear, and curiosity. Duan Ke felt uneasy, raised his hand, scratched his cheek with his index finger, and turned his head away.
It’s not so bad, just… seven or eight times?
He did it seven or eight times, while Qin Huai only did it two or three times. It was really okay, not to the point where a succubus would faint from fear.
Duan Ke used to be more open than anyone else when talking about this kind of thing. But after falling in love, he always felt an inexplicable sense of guilt, and his voice became a little unsure.
"Isn't it because we've been marked..." Duan Ke waved her hand, "It's normal to be a little more compatible with your boyfriend..."
The expressions of the succubi changed from fear to sourness, and there was another burst of ghostly howling.
Duan Ke sensed their keen interest in digging deeper, and suddenly felt hesitant to stay any longer. He lowered his head and checked his phone. It was past eleven at night.
It's time to prepare for action.
"I'm leaving now, everyone." Duan Ke waved his hand, "Everyone, have a good rest and wait for my good news."
"You must be careful, Master Duan Ke—"
Duan Ke felt helpless and sweet in his heart. Why are everyone still worried?
He had already said the word "no" to "don't worry about me", but he heard the second half of the sentence from the succubi.
"Be careful not to cause any loss of life!"
"……What?"
Duan Ke was shocked, stopped in his tracks, and looked back with surprise on his face.
He heard the succubi start talking again, but the topic was completely different from the beginning.
"Master Duan Ke, your magic patterns have turned golden. That judge is no match for you..."
"Not every monster can evolve into gold..."
"I've lived for hundreds of years, and I've never seen such a perfect magic pattern! It's simply a work of art! In my entire life..."
"Master Duan Ke, your charm technique can now probably control the mental fields of all carbon-based creatures... This magic is too strong... Your owner is simply a natural blood bag. I am amazed. He is worthy of being chosen by Master Duan Ke..."
"Master Duan Ke, please don't use your charm on that judge—"
Another succubus yelled at the top of her lungs, "If you use him, he'll definitely go to Q!! Don't let him get away with it—"
Duan Ke was so overwhelmed by the sound of everyone singing along that he didn't even have time to be nervous. He puffed out one cheek and tried to suppress a laugh.
Is it really as exaggerated as everyone says?
It’s really not that bad, my brother told him, all human lovers are this close.
Maybe everyone is making such a fuss because they have never been in love.
But no matter what, Duan Ke felt that his trip today was quite successful. He told his compatriots about his plan without making them worry too much.
Duan Ke walked out of the villa, set his destination at a hospital near the administration bureau, and stood on the roadside waiting for a car.
While waiting for the bus, he opened the chat interface and clicked on the top chat box with a clear goal.
...but I saw a white photo.
Duan Ke was startled and looked around like a thief.
After confirming that no one was around, he breathed a sigh of relief and clicked on the photo that was obviously a photo of them in bed.
Qin Huai was lying on his pillow, his eyes half asleep, his clothes and hair a little messy, looking like he had just casually taken a picture.
In order to replenish her magic power, Duan Ke pestered Qin Huai all night long, and rarely made her boyfriend a little tired.
Qin Huai didn't sleep all night last night. She was diligently feeding her boyfriend and was really a little sleepy.
His eyes were half open, looking at the camera lazily, but he still had that lingering sense of aggression that made Duan Ke both fascinated and afraid.
Duan Ke bit his lower lip unconsciously, his amber almond eyes full of restlessness.
...I really want to kiss you.
Was he infected by his boyfriend? Why did he feel dry mouth just after taking a look?
Duan Ke hesitated for two seconds and called her boyfriend.
Qin Huai answered immediately.
"Baby." Qin Huai asked, "Where is it?"
At this moment, a taxi drove over and honked.
Duan Ke opened the car door and got in. The driver couldn't help but look at his overly prominent appearance, and then looked at his clothes.
Damn, this is too obvious!
The driver hesitated to speak, trying hard not to gossip, and turned to look at the road.
Duan Ke didn't notice at all and said to Qin Huai, "I'm in a taxi."
"Oh." Qin Huai's tone dragged out a little longer than usual. "Where are you going so late instead of going home to be with your boyfriend?"
Duan Ke replied seriously: "Do you know what I ate tonight?"
Qin Huai was stunned for a moment and smiled silently.
The way the little guy changed the subject was really not human at all, it was quite awkward.
But he cooperated very well: "I don't know, what did you eat?"
The drive took nearly half an hour, which is not short at all.
But when Duan Ke heard "we are about to arrive at our destination", he was shocked to realize that he and Qin Huai had been talking about octopus balls for such a long time.
He still has a lot of interesting things to say.
"Brother, I'm about to get off the bus." Duan Ke's tone was full of regret. "Let's talk about it when we get home."
"Okay, but I already know that octopus balls are a great food that will be recorded in human history."
Qin Huai said, "Give your boyfriend some time to master it, and you can have it anytime at home in the future."
Duan Ke spoke very quietly the whole time, and Qin Huai could barely hear him.
Duan Ke was so amused by Qin Huai's words that she shrank into the back seat, covering her mouth with her hands and laughing so hard that her whole body trembled, and her small dimples sank.
The car stopped and Duan Ke thanked the driver.
He stood by the roadside, a deserted outskirts of the city. The cool evening breeze blew his hair, bringing a sense of desolate chill.
Duan Ke stared at the dark building not far away. The huge unknown made his heart beat fast, with both fear and excitement.
Duan Ke held the phone, wanting to hang up, but couldn't help licking his lower lip and speaking hesitantly.
"Actually... I'm going to the Administration Bureau soon." Duan Ke said, "I'm already at the door."
"……Yeah."
Qin Huai seemed to laugh over there, "My baby is so brave."
"Do you need my help?" My boyfriend was very considerate. "I'm free now."
"No need." Duan Ke said seriously, as if he was teaching someone who didn't know better. "The Administration is really dangerous... Just wait for me at home. I'll be back soon."
"You really don't want me to come find you?" Qin Huai seemed very worried. "What if I can be of help?"
"No need...you are not allowed to come! Got it?"
"Okay, I understand. I'll wait for you at home."
"Be careful of that bad guy." Qin Huai's voice was filled with a hint of laughter, "Don't get caught."
After Duan Ke repeatedly assured him that he would be careful and that he was now very good at fighting and could knock three judges away with one punch, Qin Huai seemed to finally feel relieved and hung up the phone.
Duan Ke did not delay any longer.
Helekla had said that the shift change at the Administration was between midnight and one o'clock. During this time, supervision was less strict, making it a relatively safe time.
Duan Ke is small in stature and very agile.
He let out his long tail to maintain balance. The figure lightly climbed over the dense barbed wire fence of the Administration and entered the hall through the back door.
Everything seemed to be going smoothly. Occasionally, a few patrolling soldiers walked by, chatting, but no one noticed the figure that flashed by so quickly.
Duan Ke was already very familiar with the blueprint and knew the location of the data room.
Helekla had said that with the strength of an S-rank monster, the real danger wasn't being spotted by soldiers, but being tracked by the Administration's security system. This system was the foundation of the Administration, with eyes everywhere in the city, and the vast majority of monsters lived under its surveillance, unaware of it.
The strange thing is that it has been almost seven minutes since Duan Ke invaded, and he hasn't even seen the shadow of the system.
What's going on? Is it too smooth?
Even though his current strength was indeed very strong, Duan Ke still felt that something was a little strange.
But there is no time to hesitate, taking the information as soon as possible means victory.
He tightened his little face, tapped his thin white toes lightly, and his tail released the pipe on the roof, dropping from the ceiling to the ground.
A tightly closed door appeared before Duan Ke. This was the location of the database mentioned in the map, and the house number pattern matched.
Duan Ke tapped the door lightly with his tail, very cautiously.
There was no vision at all.
There were footsteps not far away, it seemed that patrol soldiers were coming. Duan Ke did not hesitate any longer, he gritted his teeth and reached out to push the door open.
The moment his fingertips touched the door, bright red alarm lights flashed throughout the administration, turning Duan Ke's vision from cold white to blood red.
The shrill sound of the whistle echoed throughout the night, and Duan Ke's blood seemed to rush backwards, and he froze in place.
[Warning, S-class monster invasion! ]
A cold, mechanical female voice sounded from the top of the ceiling.
Duan Ke panicked for a moment, but quickly regained his composure. It was too late to escape now.
Now that he was here, he had to get the information no matter what. The Administration would definitely strengthen its defenses later. If he missed this opportunity, he would never get another chance to break in.
Duan Ke took two steps forward and tried to force his way in, but a cold hand grabbed his waist.
Duan Ke's eyes flickered as he looked down at the ground. He didn't know when his shadow had already overlapped closely with another person. That person was much taller than him, and he only barely reached his chest.
The person behind Duan Ke leaned forward, his chest pressed against Duan Ke's back, and was also cold.
Duan Ke's shoulder hit something hard.
When people are extremely nervous, they may not notice some obvious flaws, but they can figure out some minor details.
Duan Ke thought back to their meeting a few years ago and the judge's attire. He almost fainted.
——The thing he bumped into was the badge on the judge's uniform.
Duan Ke's head was numb and cold sweat instantly broke out on his forehead.
The person behind him sighed softly, whether it was regret or pleasure. Duan Ke wanted to turn around, but a gloved hand gripped his chin tightly, making it difficult to break free.
Duan Ke's mind went blank, and he didn't notice anything unusual about the people around him. His tail was ready to strike, and it circled behind the Inquisitor.
As long as, as long as this person has even the slightest thought of hurting himself...
I just killed him.
Duan Ke gritted his teeth, his throat almost bitter.
He waited anxiously for the Inquisitor's next move. He guessed that the Inquisitor was going to pull out a gun or a knife and deal him a fatal blow.
...But Duan Ke didn't wait for the gun.
He felt his vision go dark, and a piece of soft cloth was put on his face, obscuring his vision.
The movements were tough, but the strength was gentle, leaving Duan Ke completely unable to figure out what this person was trying to do and completely confused.
Duan Ke touched the eye mask on his face in a daze and said hesitantly: "You..."
He didn't finish his words before he let out a startled cry. Duan Ke's body was lifted into the air, and he instinctively wrapped his arms around the Inquisitor's neck, his fingertips touching the stiff fabric of the man's uniform.
This... this person...
Picked him up?
Duan Ke was completely stunned, his mouth half open. The person on him seemed to laugh happily again, and patted Duan Ke's narrow waist with his palm, as if to tell him to behave.
"Don't take it off." The judge's voice sounded distorted, "Otherwise... uh-huh."
Duan Ke's entire body froze like a wooden board, not daring to move. His attention had been completely distracted by this sentence, and his little head was spinning frantically, trying to decipher what this madman was trying to imply.
Um, do you mean torture or death?
Duan Ke felt himself being carried away by him. The sound of his military boots tapping the ground was quite clear, echoing in the empty corridor. From time to time, there were two strange screams, followed by apologies, such as "Sorry, sir, I offended you."
Were these soldiers frightened because they saw the Inquisitor holding someone?
Duan Ke's mind wandered. The alarm had stopped, as if silenced by the Inquisitor. There was the sound of a door opening, then closing.
Duan Ke's toes touched the ground again. The man held his waist, leaned against his ear, and his lips brushed against Duan Ke's earlobe.
"On the count of ten, take off the blindfold," he said. "I'll be watching you."
Duan Ke nodded quickly, not daring to move, with the tail wrapped obediently around his wrist.
The judge seemed to be laughing again, and he seemed unable to stop.
Is this so funny??? This person is so abominable!!
Duan Ke really didn't understand. Everything that had happened tonight was ridiculous. The man finally stopped teasing him. The sound of military boots rang out again, and then the door opened and closed.
Duan Ke still remembered what the man said and counted to ten silently.
He removed his blindfold and slowly looked around.
There was no one around anymore. Duan Ke stood alert, his tail erect, a rare aggression in his round, almond-shaped eyes, but his target had already vanished.
Duan Ke turned around twice, bewildered. He glanced at the huge screen in the center of the room and froze, staring at it in amazement.
This is the Administration's database, and it's already open.
