Wen Wan looked at her breaking down and crying, but she didn't know what to say, because she knew that the torture Su Ran had experienced could not be forgotten by a few words of comfort.
All she could do was hug her with Jiang Yan and let her cry and vent.
As a police officer, Jiang Yan was obviously more upset than Wen Wan when she saw Su Ran like this. She frowned and said in a depressed tone, "Su Ran..."
"I'm sorry, we came too late and couldn't find your trace earlier."
Wen Wan gently let go of Su Ran, then looked at her seriously and said, "Su Ran, I know you're in pain. Nothing we say now can erase the pain they've caused you."
"But I just want to say, we are here, don't be afraid, no one will hurt you again."
Wen Wan gently tucked her scattered hair back behind her ears, then asked softly, "Can I ask what happened in the past few years?"
"Logically speaking, if your soul is incomplete, your mind must be damaged, but you are obviously fine. Can I help you take a look?" Wen Wan said and stretched out her hand to her.
Seeing her hesitation, Jiang Yan quickly explained, "Su Ran, don't be afraid. Wanwan is a legitimate Taoist descendant. She's very experienced in matters concerning gods and ghosts!"
Su Ran fell silent after hearing what Jiang Yan said. After all, no matter who heard this kind of thing for the first time, they would have to think about it carefully. Fortunately, Su Ran accepted it quickly enough.
She calmed down and said, "I don't know why I'm the only one who's fine. It seems like all my teammates have problems."
"I haven't seen them since we were sold here together." After she said that, she gently placed her hand on Wen Wan's.
Wen Wan held her hand, gently closed her eyes, and used Taoist magic to tentatively take a look at her soul. There was indeed no problem, and her three souls and seven spirits were not missing at all.
"There's nothing wrong with your soul. You haven't lost any of your three souls and seven spirits."
She couldn't help but frown, and then silently wondered why Su Ran was fine. She asked tentatively, "Did you get anything from the Taoist temple or the Buddhist temple?"
Su Ran thought for a while before nodding and truthfully saying, "Yes, I have a jade pendant that I've worn since I was a child. I was in poor health when I was little, and I would always cry at night."
"Later, she heard from others that children are more likely to see unclean things, so she bought a jade pendant and went to a Taoist temple to have it blessed."
After she finished speaking, tears welled up in her eyes again, and she asked in a trembling voice, "Was it that jade pendant that saved me? After I was sold here, the jade pendant was taken away by Chen Jiu and his men. I don't know where they took it."
After listening to this, Wen Wan counted with her fingers without saying a word, then ran to Chen Jiu's room and found the jade pendant in the cabinet.
She gently took the jade pendant out of the cabinet and wiped off the dust on it. She picked it up and looked at it carefully. It was indeed a piece of jade.
Maybe it’s because this piece of jade is so good that Chen Jiu was reluctant to sell it, otherwise he probably would never find it again.
She could vaguely feel the residual Taoist magic on it, as well as... a faint intention. She raised her eyebrows in some confusion, and then input some Taoist magic into the jade pendant.
The next second, a figure suddenly jumped out of the jade pendant. Wen Wan took a quick look and found that it was an old lady with a kind face, but her face was full of sorrow and she seemed to be in a bad mood.
Moreover, her entire figure is now translucent, as if her soul is damaged.
"Are you...Su Ran's grandmother?" Wen Wan tentatively asked the question in her mind.
After hearing her words, the old lady nodded slightly, and then said gratefully: "Little girl, thank you, thank you for saving Ranran."
Wen Wan observed her carefully for a while, and then she understood. No wonder Su Ran's soul was fine. It turned out that someone was silently protecting her.
"It was you who protected Su Ran, right? That's why your soul was damaged and you could only possess the jade pendant." Wen Wan asked speculatively.
Although the jade pendant is blessed with Taoist magic, the magic is obviously not enough to completely resist the power of the little ghost.
So Su Ran's grandmother had to protect Su Ran herself, which resulted in damage to her own soul.
But it was also because of the blessing of the Taoist magic on the jade pendant that Su Ran's grandmother did not lose so many souls to the little ghosts and could barely maintain her sanity.
But even if that's the case, her soul shouldn't be so weak. The old lady looks like her soul may fly away at any time.
Wen Wan asked in confusion, "What on earth is going on?"
When the old lady heard Wen Wan's question, she sighed and explained, "Girl, listen to me, it's like this."
"Ranran grew up with me. Her parents left her alone because of their divorce. I raised her with my own hands."
She paused, then sighed and said, "I promised her that I would accompany her to get married and have children, and take care of them for her."
"But God didn't fulfill my wish. A serious illness took my life."
Wen Wan felt very uncomfortable when she heard her words, but she couldn't say anything. After all, life and death are the laws of nature.
"But you couldn't bear to leave Su Ran, so you never reincarnated, right?"
The old lady nodded and said, "What I promised her hasn't been fulfilled yet, so I want to wait until she gets married and has children before reincarnating. I still have some time anyway."
"I never expected that she would encounter such a thing. She is my most beloved granddaughter. How could I bear to see her get hurt?"
"Although the jade pendant can offset some of her damage, it's far from enough. In a desperate situation, I had no choice but to risk my own life to help her block it."
