After catching a glimpse of her movements, Jia Xibei took a bite of the burger in his hand and asked her curiously, "Who are you chatting with all that chatter?"
"Hmm?" Wen Wan responded without raising her head. She finally put down the phone after typing the last sentence.
Then, she raised her eyes and looked at Jia Xibei with a smile, and responded in a sweet voice: "Who else could it be? Of course it's your master!"
There was a subtle joy in her voice, but Jia Xibei was very sensitive and could still hear it.
She couldn't help but sigh and complained, "Showing off your affection is shameful! Showing off your affection in front of single people is even more shameful!"
"Hmm... then why is that shameful?" Wen Wan raised a sly smile, her words revealing an obvious sense of showing off, "I have a fiancé and I'm not allowed to mention it?"
"Please! Please let go of this single guy who has been single since birth - your good disciple, me!" Jia Xibei covered his chest with a painful look on his face.
"Stop..." Wen Wan tilted her head slightly upwards, thought about it seriously, and then said in a provocative tone, "Stop! It's impossible to stop!"
She paused after she finished speaking, then changed the subject and said, "How about... I introduce you to a boyfriend? That way you won't be afraid of being blinded by us in the future!"
"Ah... no, no, no!" Jia Xibei quickly waved his hands in refusal, saying very seriously, "Forget it! I have long since cut off all feelings and love, and sealed my heart and locked away all love!"
Wen Wan saw her reaction and asked her in confusion, "You...you are afraid of men?"
"That's not the case!" Jia Xibei shook his head slightly in denial, then explained to her, "It's just that marriage has never been an item in my current life plan."
Wen Wan tilted her head slightly and asked in confusion, "Why?"
Jia Xibei didn't know what he remembered, his eyes suddenly darkened, but the next second they returned to normal, "Before, my parents urged me to get married, and I had no choice, so I went on a few blind dates, and after I came back, I sealed my heart and locked away my love!"
"Pfft!" Wen Wan couldn't help laughing when she heard this, "I understand!"
"Believe me, I'm not being picky!" Jia Xibei couldn't help but get angry when he thought of the previous scenes. "I've never met a good man like Master. The only ones I've met are idiots like Chen Zhaocai!"
"Hahahahaha!" Wen Wan had stopped laughing, but after hearing this analogy, she couldn't help laughing again, "I'm sorry! You're so miserable, but I really want to laugh!"
Those dusty memories came flooding back like a tide, and Jia Xibei sighed subtly, "My parents always said back then that just being good enough was enough. Where in the world can you find so many outstanding men?"
"The reason why it's almost the same is that there's still a difference. I really, really don't want to compromise, and I'm not willing to compromise. Life is only a few decades long, why waste it on someone I don't like?"
Wen Wan saw that her expression was not right, so she quickly suppressed the smile on her face and responded seriously: "You are right, it is normal to be unwilling to give in!"
"Everyone's ideas are different. You don't need to pay too much attention to them. Just be happy and comfortable. Don't be influenced by other people's ideas, otherwise you will really suffer in the future."
"Well... you're right." Jia Xibei agreed softly, but looking at the food in his hand, he suddenly felt that it was tasteless.
Wen Wan didn't know what had happened to her, but she was still sensitive enough to sense that something was wrong with her. After a long silence, she carefully asked, "Are your parents still urging you to do this?"
Jia Xibei shook his head at her, then gave a wry smile, "They wanted to hurry, but there's no chance!"
"Ah?" Wen Wan was a little confused.
"They died in a car accident last year..." A trace of pain appeared on Jia Xibei's face, but she quickly suppressed it, "So they don't have a chance to rush them!"
Wen Wan was stunned when she heard this. She didn't expect that her casual words would actually hit the other person's scar. She couldn't help but slap her head in annoyance.
"Why do you look like that?" Jia Xibei looked at her self-blaming expression and comforted her, "I'm fine. I've gotten over it now!"
After she finished speaking, she explained carefully: "That time they drove from their hometown to see me, and everyone was very happy. Then they mentioned blind dates, and I lost my temper and got angry, and then we had a big fight."
"They were so angry that they took a car to go home overnight, but who would have thought they would get into a car accident on the way. I really didn't expect that would be the last time we saw each other."
She choked up a bit as she spoke, sniffed, and continued, "After they left, I was thinking..."
"Should I have listened to them and just found someone who was just okay to marry? That way, there wouldn't be any of this later stuff, and they wouldn't have left!"
"Don't think like that!" Wen Wan reached out and touched her head. "This is just an accidental incident. It has nothing to do with you. Many things are destined by fate. You really don't need to blame yourself too much."
"Actually, I can understand them. They think they're pushing you to get married for your own good, wanting you to find support quickly. But they don't understand your perspective and are forcing their own ideas on you. That's definitely wrong, but many parents are just that authoritarian!"
"I completely understand your approach. Your life belongs to you, not to them. If you just obey and marry someone casually, and then your life becomes unhappy, who will you turn to for justice? So your thinking is not wrong!"
