Chapter 197 Peacemaker Young Master Jiang

The sudden address startled Jiang Sheng for a moment.

She scratched her head and then remembered that this brother, who had a sharp tongue, was actually the owner of Youran Residence and a young master from a wealthy family.

Out of respect for money, Jiang Sheng politely replied, "It is I, Young Master Jiang."

"It really is you! What brings you to Fengjing? I thought it was strange when I saw the preserved meat last time, but it turns out I wasn't mistaken." Jiang Chengyuan grinned.

Even though Jiang Sheng had nothing to do with him, he felt happy when he saw this round-faced little girl, probably because he also had a younger sister of about the same age at home.

"My brother has an exam," Jiang Sheng said without elaborating.

Jiang Chengyuan remained enthusiastic and wanted to chat with her a little longer.

The person inside the carriage couldn't sit still any longer. They lifted half of the curtain and called out with a hint of coquettishness, "Brother!"

Jiang Chengyuan then belatedly remembered his sister's carriage and hurriedly turned back, saying gently, "Huanhuan is here too. Didn't you say you were going to support your brother? Why did you stop here?"

Jiang Chenghuan pursed his lips and remained silent.

The maidservant beside him seemed to have found something to rely on, and started chattering on and on, finally glaring fiercely at Jiang Sheng and his sister.

"Brother, Chenghuan didn't mean to cause trouble, she just didn't want to miss the chance to support you." The girl in the carriage sobbed, "But I didn't expect it to be too late."

Jiang Chengyuan's heart was breaking.

His tone became even gentler as he said protectively, "Huanhuan, don't be afraid, your brother is here."

He straightened up, exuding the noble and arrogant air unique to young masters of noble families, and said coldly, "Who hurt my sister, Jiang Chengyuan? Who is being unreasonable in this Wenchang Pavilion?"

The maid pointed to Jiang Sheng and his two siblings.

Jiang Chengyuan's composure faltered, and he almost lost his composure.

What a coincidence that these two people got into a conflict.

On one side is his younger sister whom he has cherished since childhood, and on the other side is the round-faced little ginger. Anyone with eyes can see who should be supported based on distance and familiarity, but Jiang Chengyuan's first instinct is to act as a peacemaker.

He coughed lightly twice and advised, "Huanhuan, there are many people and eyes at the entrance of Wenchang Pavilion. It is normal for a little bump to happen. Don't be angry. The young ladies of our Jiang family have always been tolerant. Why bother about such a trivial matter?"

No one spoke inside the carriage.

Jiang Chengyuan then looked at Jiang Sheng and said, "If Huanhuan was wrong, I, as her brother, apologize on her behalf. Let's let's make a big deal out of it and not pursue the matter further, okay?"

Jiang Sheng blinked.

The eldest and fifth brothers were still angry and clearly did not want to let the matter rest. However, the second brother still had to do business with Youranju. Besides, Young Master Jiang had not done anything wrong, and his heart to protect his sister was still worthy of understanding.

She gently tugged at her older brother's sleeve, but there was no response.

I shook Fifth Brother's arm again, but there was still no response.

My two older brothers are great in every way, except they have bad tempers. Luckily, my third brother isn't here, otherwise he would have pounced on me and started a fight.

Jiang Sheng had no choice but to hug one arm with each hand and whine, "Big brother, fifth brother, Jiang Sheng is hungry and wants to eat Aunt's cooking."

Xu Mo lowered his eyelashes, his heart filled with gloom.

Jiang Chengyuan was still furious for his sister and shouted at her to settle the score.

He, as the eldest brother, could only accept the handshake and make peace. It was his younger siblings who had been wronged, but he couldn't even stand up for them. He was truly pathetic.

Chang Yan's expression was equally complex, but compared to Xu Mo's helplessness, it contained a hint of bewilderment and struggle.

He looked toward the direction of the imperial city, then turned his head away as if his eyes were burning.

"Brother, brother, brother!" Jiang Sheng called out in a high-pitched, childish voice, "Let's go home, okay? Please?"

The talented men around them were practically drooling, wishing they were the ones being called.

Even Zhu Sihuan stared at Jiang Sheng, his eyes darting around as if he were trying to figure out if he could sneak her home.

Xu Mo and Chang Yan finally sensed the danger and pulled their sister away.

Jiang Chengyuan wanted to say something more, but the three siblings had already disappeared into the distance. He could only sigh sadly, and when he looked back at his sister in the car, he felt relieved again.

"Brother," the girl in the carriage whispered, "Chenghuan isn't being unreasonable, it's just that Grandmother is bothered by Chenghuan's status, and Chenghuan is terrified of losing her brother and parents..."

As she spoke, she began to sob again.

Jiang Chengyuan's heart melted again. He simply got into the carriage and racked his brains to coax his sister until she stopped crying and started laughing. Only then did he take her home.

at the same time.

Jiang Sheng took a couple of steps with her two older brothers, then started spinning in circles.

She hadn't turned into a spinning top spirit; she was looking for her own little carriage and the two hundred catties of cured meat on it, which were full of silver.

Jiang Si was also searching, repeatedly whistling, trying to call Lao Ma back.

But there was no trace of it.

Could it be that the three hundred taels of silver just vanished like that?

Not only Jiang Sheng, but also Xu Mo and Chang Yan felt sorry for her. Having come through hard times, they realized they had learned to cherish every moment.

The street where Wenchang Pavilion is located is quite bustling, with crowds of people coming and going. Anyone with a bit of sense could easily pick up the reins and lead away the horse, the carriage, and all the goods without anyone stopping them.

Jiang Si looked annoyed. "It's all my fault. I let go of the reins."

But in that situation, if I could protect the reins, I couldn't protect the girl; if I could protect the girl, I would have to give up the reins.

From both a moral and logical standpoint, Jiang Si did nothing wrong; people are always more important than goods.

Xu Mo patted his shoulder and said in a deep voice, "Don't worry, we'll find it."

As the old saying goes, an old horse knows the way.

They had never seen the old horse return home, but they had seen the old donkey.

Although the donkey that had accompanied the siblings through difficult times died of illness in Anshui County before the new year, the scene of the old donkey knowing the way was imprinted in the siblings' minds and could never be forgotten.

"Brother, do you mean the horse might have gone to You Ran Ju on its own, or returned to our courtyard?" The spinning top stopped spinning, filled with doubt and shock.

Chang Yan, standing nearby, coughed twice to suppress his wild imagination.

"Let's go check out the nearby You Ran Ju first," Xu Mo said calmly and composedly.

The three siblings set off together with Jiang Si, having already decided that if You Ran Ju wasn't there, they would hurry back to the small courtyard to look for it.

Fortunately, they spotted the familiar horse-drawn carriage and the workers unloading goods at the entrance of Youranju.

Upon seeing Jiang Sheng, the waiter joked, "Only goods arrived today; I almost suspected something had happened to the deliveryman."

Something did happen, but it was resolved later.

Jiang Sheng stuck out her tongue, leaned forward to watch the goods being weighed, and settled the bill.

Xu Mo did not go in.

The tall, handsome young man stood with his hands behind his back, looking up at the opulent restaurant, then around the ornately decorated streets, and finally scrutinizing every passerby in their fine clothes.

Money and power—the insatiable greed stems from wanting too much.

He wanted to protect his younger siblings, become a pillar of support for his family, wish his enemies a fate worse than death, and make even powerful families wary of him.

How difficult must it be?

Xu Mo didn't know.

Sensing the slow, halting footsteps behind him, he sighed softly, pulling himself out of his thoughts. "Wasn't he afraid the Jiang family would cause trouble for the Zhu family after being so righteous at the entrance of Wenchang Pavilion?"
