Chapter 387 Jiang Sheng Gets Thinner

When Fang Heng left, even though they knew where he was and what he was doing, the siblings were still saddened for half a month.

Now that the long banquet is gone, everyone understands that being sad is useless, but they still can't avoid feeling down.

For two whole days, there was hardly any laughter in the courtyard.

Jiang Sheng stopped touching even the leftover meat from the delicious banquet, and her round face became pointed after two days, revealing a faint oval shape.

When Zhang Xianglian returned home after three days, she saw her like this and burst into tears. She then pulled Master Kong to cook.

Braised pork knuckle, chicken stew with mushrooms, braised carp.

All of these were her favorite dishes, but when they were actually placed on the table, Jiang Sheng's chopsticks circled around, and she only picked up a mushroom and slowly swallowed it.

"Little Jiang Sheng, why aren't you eating meat?" Zhang Xianglian exclaimed in alarm. "What's wrong with you?"

Which pig farmer can tolerate their piglets not eating?

Jiang Sheng forced a smile and said softly, "I don't really want to eat these oily and greasy things. Vegetables and mushrooms are fine."

She picked up two more pieces, swallowed them whole, finished her soup, and then put down her bowl and chopsticks.

"I'm full." Jiang Sheng stood up. "It's the end of the month, and Jiuzhenfang's accounts need to be tallied."

The boys at the table ate a few bites, then put down their chopsticks and went about their own business.

Is this the home without Xiao Wu?

Zhang Xianglian felt heartbroken and lost her appetite. She turned around and put two pieces of meat on Master Kong's plate.

It's clear that the couple's relationship has improved significantly over these three days.

Master Kong was no longer flattered; instead, he felt a little shy. After eating his meal in large bites, he patted his beloved wife on the shoulder.

Under Zhang Xianglian's astonished gaze, he walked to Zheng Ruqian's side and asked, "Xiaoqian, what's wrong with the young lady these past two days? She hasn't even been eating braised pork knuckle."

My uncle-in-law is correct in calling me by my aunt's name, but it's a little strange.

Zheng Ruqian shook off the strange feeling, "I was worried about Xiao Wu, but I couldn't show it, which completely killed my appetite."

Master Kong wanted to ask why, but following Zheng Ruqian's gaze, he saw Xu Mo studying intently and suddenly understood.

Overjoyed and sorrowful at the same time, everyone almost forgot that the imperial examination was just a few days away.

Unknown schemes, the Fang family and the eldest prince, the results of the palace examination are all imminent.

Xu Mo dared not be distracted, suppressing his worries about his younger brother as he prepared for the exam and perused ancient books.

The others dared not distract Xu Mo, so they could only pretend to be nonchalant as much as possible.

“But this isn’t a solution either; the girl has lost weight,” Master Kong sighed. “Why don’t we take her out more often and do something else to distract her?”

This is the only option left out.

Zheng Ruqian put away the map he had drawn himself and nodded. "Then I'll have to trouble my aunt and uncle to lend a hand at home."

Xu Mo was pressed for time, so he stayed home to simulate the imperial examination.

Fang Heng, accompanied by his servants and guards, took time to practice troop deployment and formation.

He told Wang Xiaosong to rein in the horse, rushed into the room, and dragged Jiang Sheng, who was in a daze, out.

"Second brother, stop fooling around." She struggled. "I still have to do the accounts."

"Go to Jiuzhenfang to settle accounts. What are you doing here?" Zheng Ruqian forcibly dragged her into the carriage, and also gave Wen Zhiyun and Wang Xiaozhu, who were going to the clinic, a ride.

The three siblings sat quietly, while outside the car, the crowd surged and the noise was deafening.

All the liveliness seemed to have been stripped away from them, leaving only a dazed, calm, and lonely state.

It wasn't like this when Xiao Wu was around.

Wen Zhiyun pouted, and her eyes welled up with tears again.

Zheng Ruqian reacted quickly, pinching him from behind to force him to swallow his anger.

Having finally arrived at Tianjiekou, Wang Xiaosong, with his sharp eyes, exclaimed as soon as he stopped, "So many patients! Why is it so lively?"

The three siblings were all drawn in, and when they lifted the carriage curtain, they saw that the clinic was full of people.

Wen Zhiyun often provides free medical consultations and medicines. Most of the people who frequent Wen's Medical Clinic are ordinary folks, but those sitting inside at this moment are all well-dressed and clearly have wealth and status.

"How come there are so many rich people?" Wang Xiaozhu was terrified. "Young master, young master, what should we do?"

Wen Zhiyun was stunned. He wasn't the type to handle things well, and he was already panicked and at a loss.

Fortunately, Zheng Ruqian was there. He frowned and said, "Let's go take a look first."

"Yes, Fourth Brother, don't be afraid, we're all here." Jiang Sheng forced a smile. "Let's go, let's go together."

The siblings jumped off the carriage in turn, and as soon as they arrived at the entrance of the Wen family's medical clinic, everyone inside turned around in unison.

With more than a dozen pairs of eyes looking over, it was quite intimidating.

Wen Zhiyun felt a chill run down her spine, but managed to steady herself and asked softly, "Excuse me, are you all here for a medical consultation?"

Wealthy families have never lacked doctors; even if they don't have a family physician, they will seek medical treatment at large pharmacies and rarely come to small clinics like this.

If they come, they'll either cause trouble or have ulterior motives.

Even Jiang Sheng was prepared to send Wang Xiaosong to the Jiang family to ask for her father and grandmother's support if things went wrong.

Unexpectedly, the person inside smiled and politely stood up, "Yes, you must be Dr. Wen. We have a few patients here who would like to ask Dr. Wen for help."

He pointed to a middle-aged man, then to a young man, and finally to an elderly man with white hair and beard.

They looked like a family of three generations coming to see a doctor.

Wen Zhiyun was somewhat incredulous, but as a doctor, he had a compassionate heart; since the patient had come to his door, he couldn't simply turn him away.

He put down the small medicine box and glanced at Wang Xiaozhu.

The tacit understanding they had cultivated over time allowed Xiaozhu to suppress her panic and get up to prepare paper, brush, ink, inkstone, and other necessities for pulse diagnosis.

Jiang Sheng and Zheng Ruqian exchanged a glance and quietly stepped into the corner.
