The courtyard was bustling with activity and filled with joy.
A cool breeze suddenly swept in from outside the walled courtyard, catching the flying firecracker scraps underfoot with black boots, bringing a chill to the entire street.
"Is this the place?" Zhu Changhong exuded a murderous aura and was incredibly imposing.
"Yes, Your Highness, the Crown Prince is right here," the guard replied in a low voice, then quickly covered his mouth, afraid of angering the Crown Prince.
Fortunately, Zhu Changhong did not notice and continued to stare fiercely at the courtyard, his neck cracking as he twisted, as if he wanted to devour Changyan alive.
"Finally caught you all, none of you are going to escape today." He bared his fangs and uttered a harsh threat.
The guard nodded behind him, but something still felt off.
Until Zhu Changhong once again became fierce, "You dare to harm my mother, injure my uncle, and even dare to seize my position as crown prince, where do you get the guts!"
It sounds fierce, like a fight could break out at any moment.
If he could take two steps forward and kick the wooden door that was blocking the courtyard away.
However, despite repeated threats and bared fangs, the Crown Prince's black boots remained unmoved, only crushing the firecracker debris beneath his feet.
Guard, "..."
"Your Highness," someone suggested, "why don't we kick the wooden door down first?"
Zhu Changhong nodded, but quickly shook his head, a flicker of fear crossing his large eyes. "They're having a wedding banquet, it's not appropriate."
Better to tear down a temple than to break up a marriage.
It's already unethical to cause trouble on your wedding day, but to then disturb someone's meal is truly inhumane.
"But Your Highness, we've been looking for trouble with them all along," the guard said through gritted teeth. "We specifically chose today."
Zhu Changhong belatedly realized, "Oh, right."
He lost the struggle for the throne, and his mother was bedridden, her life hanging in the balance. If he didn't seize this opportunity to work hard, he would only be at the mercy of others in the future.
"So Your Highness, rush in, interrupt their wedding banquet, and let them know that the Ju family is not to be trifled with," the guard urged earnestly.
Zhu Changhong clenched his fists, finally releasing the shredded paper. He took a step forward, then hesitated, "Do I really have to go?"
"Your Highness!" the man finally exclaimed anxiously, "Have you forgotten what we agreed upon before?"
"If you keep delaying, it will only arouse suspicion. You came here to vent your anger and dispel any suspicions."
"Even if you don't think of yourself, you should think of the unconscious Imperial Concubine, and of the entire Ju family!"
At this point, you are no longer yourself.
You have family, clan, and supporters behind you; you cannot act recklessly.
Zhu Changhong lowered his head, a deep helplessness flashing in his eyes again, before turning into ruthlessness after gritting his teeth.
He stepped on the shredded paper, one step at a time, until he kicked the wooden door.
"Clang".
The wooden door was stuck to the wall, then bounced back up.
Jiang Sheng, who had just picked up a piece of pork knuckle skin, widened her eyes and muttered, "Did you guys just see something?"
“It must be the wind.” Zheng Ruqian was equally puzzled.
Wen Zhiyun tilted his head to observe, while Zhang Xianglian looked on with surprise.
Only Xu Mo and Chang Yan were the most astute; one looked at Jiang San and Jiang Si, and the other glanced at the personal guards.
The agile guards quickly got up and rushed to the main gate with lightning speed.
With another loud crash, this time the two wooden doors were successfully destroyed, falling to a crooked angle.
Zhu Changhong revealed his true form with four guards. A cool breeze swept by again, causing his robes to flutter and carrying with them a palpable killing intent.
Those who come with ill intentions will not come; those with good intentions will not come.
Kicking down the door on the wedding day seems like something only a prince would do.
But if he's left alone, can the Ju family feel at ease?
Chang Yan raised an eyebrow, suppressing her second brother who was about to burst into curses, and stepped forward with a smile, saying, "So it's the eldest brother who's here for the banquet. You've picked a good time; the food has just been served and is just right for eating."
Zhu Changhong was taken aback.
According to the original plan, the two should have a conflict, which might even escalate to physical violence. He wanted to take the opportunity to beat up his fifth brother to vent his anger for his mother, and then make a scene in front of the imperial family to get a charge of self-reflection.
The Ju family had arranged everything except for the part where the fifth prince would invite him to the wedding banquet.
"I...I..." Zhu Changhong stammered, and only after the guard coughed to remind him did he regain his ruthlessness, "Who wants to eat your lousy banquet? You hurt my mother, I won't forgive you."
"I caused Consort Ju's injury?" Changyan suddenly exclaimed in surprise. "Is the eldest brother mistaken? I was not present when Consort Ju hit the pillar. Steward Wu can testify to that."
Zhu Changhong nearly choked on his breath in mid-air, "That's still related to you. My mother just hit her head against a pillar and fell into a coma, and you were already on the throne as the Crown Prince. Can you say there's no connection between you and that?"
Theoretically, there is a relationship.
But the Long Banquet did not have this theory.
"Elder brother, you've only heard rumors." The boy looked completely innocent. "The crown prince is chosen based on the eldest son of the legitimate wife. As the eldest son of the legitimate wife, my position as crown prince is a foregone conclusion. But that's the real reason why Consort Ju ran into the pillar. Didn't the Ju family tell you?"
"Tell me what?" Zhu Changhong asked, somewhat bewildered.
A hint of pity flickered in Changyan's eyes, accompanied by a touch of wicked amusement. "Let me tell you, it was the Ju family who tried to murder the Emperor, and Consort Ju took the blame for them, which is why she ran into the pillar."
In fact, as of now, there is no evidence to prove that the Ju family poisoned the body.
But the reason this scheme is so brilliant is that as long as Consort Ju takes the blame, no matter who the real culprit is, in the end it can only be the Ju family who did it.
The head of the Ju family probably understood his nephew's character and did not directly reveal the truth.
When Chang Yan had the chance, he used his words as sharp blades to stab her viciously.
