Su Banxia's heart trembled slightly, as if hit by something.
As Lou Jiyun walked towards the bedroom, her fingers unconsciously tightened a little, and her arms wrapped around his shoulders more tightly. Her heart beat faster and faster, as if it was about to jump out of her throat.
Following Su Banxia's instructions, Lou Jiyun carried her into a room.
There was a faint fragrance in the room, obviously someone came to clean it regularly, and the bed was made very neatly.
Lou Jiyun walked gently to the bedside, bent down slightly, and his movements were as gentle as a spring breeze, and he gently placed Su Banxia on the bed.
Su Banxia leaned against the soft pillow, her cheeks still flushed. She raised her head slightly and said softly, "Actually..."
"I just reached out my hand because I wanted you to pull me up, not because I wanted you to hold me. I just felt a little dizzy and wasn't that fragile yet. I needed someone..."
"I know." Lou Jiyun still bent over, his eyes gently gazing at Su Banxia, his eyes filled with affection and doting. "I just want to hold you, that's all."
One of his hands was still on Su Banxia's lower back, looking down at her condescendingly, his figure slouching down, as if he was loosely holding Su Banxia beneath him.
The curtains in the room were closed and the light was dim. Only a faint light coming in from the window shone on their faces.
In this hazy light and shadow, Su Banxia felt as if her whole body was wrapped in Lou Jiyun's breath. Her breathing became hotter and faster, and her heart beat like a deer.
However, Lou Jiyun did not take any further action. He just looked at Su Banxia quietly, his eyes full of tenderness and care.
After a while, he said softly, "Take off your coat and get under the covers to sleep. I'll go boil some water and get the medicine."
Su Banxia looked at Lou Jiyun's departing back, and a complex emotion surged in her heart. Her fingers gently touched the place where Lou Jiyun had just hugged her, as if she could still feel his warmth.
After taking the medicine, Su Banxia felt dizzy and her eyelids were as heavy as if filled with lead. She soon fell into a deep sleep.
This sudden fever and cold came on quickly, but it passed just as quickly. In her sleep, she broke out in a fine layer of hot sweat, and while her consciousness was hazy, she had several strange dreams in succession.
Among these dreams, the one that frightened her the most was the terrifying and thrilling scene. She dreamed that she and Lou Jiyun were in the plum garden together, the sun was shining, and the years were peaceful.
But at this moment, her father Su Liuxing appeared without any warning. Su Liuxing's face was terribly gloomy, his eyes were full of anger, and he started chasing Lou Jiyun without saying a word.
Su Banxia was horrified by this sudden turn of events, her face pale and her heart leaping into her throat. Without a second thought, she instinctively grabbed Lou Jiyun's hand and ran away. Their steps were hurried and frantic, raising clouds of dust.
To escape Su Liuxing's pursuit, Su Banxia even got in her car and, along with Lou Jiyun, embarked on a thrilling pursuit of Su Liuxing on the highway. The scene was thrilling, like something out of a foreign blockbuster, with cars speeding along the highway, tires screeching against the road.
However, they were not as lucky as the protagonist in the movie. At the last moment, Su Liuxing caught up with them.
At that critical moment, Su Banxia was suddenly awakened from her dream, with beads of sweat on her forehead and her pajamas soaked with sweat, sticking tightly to her body.
"Awake?" A gentle and familiar voice sounded beside her ears. Su Banxia slowly turned her head and saw Lou Jiyun had moved a chair and was sitting quietly at the head of the bed, holding a book in his hands and reading intently.
"Yeah." Su Banxia's voice was very hoarse, and her throat felt itchy and dry, as if there was a fire burning.
She couldn't help coughing a few times, and each cough made her chest hurt.
Seeing this, Lou Jiyun immediately put down the book in his hand, quickly handed her a glass of water, and said softly, "The water temperature is just right."
Su Banxia was sweating all over at this time. She was extremely dehydrated and very thirsty.
She took the cup of water, her hands trembling slightly, tilted her head back, and drank it in big gulps. After she drank most of the water, she felt her throat felt a little better and she breathed a long sigh of relief.
"How do you feel?" Lou Jiyun put down the book in his hand and leaned forward slightly.
"It should be fine." Su Banxia said softly. Although her voice was still a little weak, it was much clearer than before.
"Should?" Lou Jiyun frowned slightly, a hint of displeasure flashing in his eyes. He never liked hearing such ambiguous and probabilistic words. Words like "maybe" and "probably" seemed too vague to him.
He suddenly stood up, his movements quick and decisive.
He bent down slightly, stretched out his hand, and gently touched Su Banxia's forehead, wanting to test her body temperature.
But as soon as he touched her forehead, he remembered that he had just touched a cup of warm water, and the temperature of his hand might not be accurate, so measuring the temperature in this way seemed unreliable.
"It's not hot anymore." Although Su Banxia is not a doctor, he is very clear about his physical condition.
However, the next scene caught Su Banxia off guard.
Lou Jiyun suddenly leaned forward, his movements gentle yet firm.
Su Banxia's eyes widened instantly, filled with surprise and panic. She subconsciously clenched the glass in her hands, and her knuckles turned white from the force.
Because Lou Jiyun's forehead slowly touched hers, and the distance between them was so close that they could almost hear each other's heartbeats.
