Chapter 31 Accidental Fall into Water

Jiang Baizhi walked in front of Qu Qingdai. When she heard Qu Qingdai's instructions to the others, she couldn't help but chuckle inwardly. She thought, "You're about to make a fool of yourself, and you're still worrying about others. You might as well worry more about yourself!" A sly smile appeared on her face, and a smug glint flashed in her eyes.

Not long after, Jiang Baizhi lightly stepped onto the seventh slab, and the eighth slab was about to appear before her. At this time, Ling Quan had already stood firmly on the ninth slab, communicating silently with Jiang Baizhi through his eyes. Ling Quan looked to the left of the eighth slab and nodded slightly at Jiang Baizhi, the movement so subtle that it was almost imperceptible.

Jiang Baizhi immediately understood Ling Quan's intention. She quickly turned around and said to Qu Qingdai, "Daidai, I noticed that the distance between the seventh and eighth stone slabs is a bit far. I might need to use a little force to jump over them. Let me try to see if I can jump over them successfully. If I succeed, you can follow my method."

"Okay, then you try it first. Be sure to pay attention to safety." Qu Qingdai said with pretended concern.

The guests behind Jiang Baizhi also focused their eyes on her, paying close attention to her every move. After all, the distance between the seventh and eighth slabs was indeed quite large, which everyone could see clearly. For boys, this might not be a particularly difficult thing, and they might be able to cross this distance relatively easily. However, for girls, this might really be a big challenge, and they really need to use all their strength and jump hard to successfully cross it. Everyone was secretly sweating for Jiang Baizhi, hoping that she could successfully complete this challenge.

"Baizhi, you must be careful. Remember what I told you before." Ling Quan stood on the ninth stone slab, his expression full of concern and worry, and his voice was also a bit anxious. He reminded Jiang Baizhi again.

"I know, don't worry." Jiang Baizhi prepared to jump, took a deep breath, then gathered her strength and jumped with all her might, landing steadily on the left side of the eighth stone slab.

"Okay, that's awesome!" Lin Zhirou cheered.

"Well done, Jiang Baizhi." Bai Ren rarely praised him.

After Jiang Baizhi landed, she ignored the compliments from others and hurriedly turned to look at Qu Qingdai. She said, "Daidai, it's safe here. Just jump over. I'll go to the ninth slab first and make room for you. You can jump over later."

"Okay, thank you, Baizhi." Qu Qingdai responded.

"Okay, I'll be leaving first." After saying this, Jiang Baizhi turned around and looked at Ling Quan, who was standing on the ninth stone slab. She raised the corners of her mouth slightly, with a subtle cunning in her smile, and a glint of brilliance flashed in her eyes, as if she was planning something.

Ling Quan's eyes were also filled with a smile, and that smile seemed to hide something that people were looking forward to. He looked at Jiang Baizhi, his eyes full of tenderness and doting.

Jiang Baizhi smoothly made it to the ninth slab, and at that moment, she and Ling Quan stood on it together. Their gazes simultaneously turned to Qu Qingdai, each of them beaming with smiles that threatened to overflow, unable to be concealed.

"Dance faster, Daidai." Jiang Baizhi urged anxiously, her voice full of anticipation.

"Okay, I'll jump now." Qu Qingdai took a deep breath, raised her hands, and jumped with all her strength, then landed steadily on the eighth stone slab. She raised her head, a bright smile on her face, and said to Jiang Baizhi: "Baizhi, you are right, it is really steady."

However, Jiang Baizhi and Ling Quan were stunned at this time. They widened their eyes and looked at Qu Qingdai who was standing on the right side of the eighth stone slab in disbelief.

It took a long time for Ling Quan to recover. His voice was so low that only he could hear it. He stammered, "How...how is this possible?"

Jiang Baizhi's eyes widened, her face filled with surprise. She stared at Qu Qingdai and muttered to herself, "How is this possible? How could this happen?"

Then, in shock, she turned to look at Ling Quan, only to see his eyes filled with surprise and disbelief. His eyes, wide and bulging, seemed to sparkle as he stared intently at where Qu Qingdai stood. He couldn't believe it. The stone slab beneath Qu Qingdai's feet hadn't budged at all, and she hadn't fallen into the stream as he'd expected. This was completely unexpected, completely different from his carefully planned plan, leaving him utterly bewildered and shocked.

"What's wrong with you?" Qu Qingdai asked with a smile.

"No, it's nothing. As long as you can succeed, that's all that's fine." Jiang Baizhi spoke haltingly, trying her best to hide the unspeakable surprise deep in her heart.

Then, she hurriedly said, "Then Lingquan and I will go to the next stone slab to wait for you, and you stay here...ah..."

Jiang Baizhi hadn't finished her words when a sudden, piercing scream echoed through the air. The stone slab she and Ling Quan were standing on suddenly gave way without warning. Unable to maintain their footing in this sudden change, they both lost their balance and fell into the swiftly flowing stream. Water splashed everywhere, and their figures were instantly submerged in the stream, leaving behind only chaos and terror.
