Episode 29 The Second Prince Proposes to Liu Qian

"Goodbye," the second prince ran towards Chengqian Palace.

Guo Xiner looked at his back. He was indeed not suitable to be an emperor because of his scheming. It would be nice if he could be an idle prince for the rest of his life.

......

At the gate of Chengqian Palace.

The second prince was panting. He wanted to go in, but the guards at the door stopped him and said, "Get out of here!"

He roared.

Hearing the noise inside, he hurried inside to pass on the message.

The guards did not dare to confront the Second Prince head-on and knelt down together, "The Emperor has ordered that Concubine Heng be placed under house arrest. Please, Second Prince, do not make things difficult for us who are on duty."

The attitude was very gentle, but also very clear: no entry.

The Second Prince didn't care about that. He kicked them away one by one and said, "You are courting death. How dare you stop me?"

But as he walked in, several guards stepped forward with swords drawn, "Anyone who disobeys my order will be beheaded!"

Although they didn't dare to actually use a knife, this did scare the Second Prince. He stopped there, breathing heavily, not knowing whether it was because he was angry or tired.

The atmosphere was frozen for a moment, and neither side dared to act rashly anymore.

"Want to rebel?"

A voice came from inside, breaking the deadlock.

When Concubine Heng came out, several guards put away their swords and saluted, "Greetings, Her Majesty the Concubine."

"Mother!" The Second Prince ran over, "Mother, what's going on?"

Concubine Heng's expression changed. Someone must have framed her. It was like snowing in June!

"Your father will investigate. This is not the place to talk," Concubine Heng said, facing the guards. "The Emperor has ordered me to be confined to Chengqian Palace. Didn't the Emperor say that the Second Prince is not allowed to come in?"

The emperor certainly didn't say such a thing, did he?

"Just do your job well and don't worry about anything else," Concubine Heng rolled her eyes at them and pulled the second prince into the inner hall.

As soon as he entered, the Second Prince couldn't wait to ask, "Mother, what's going on?"

Concubine Heng gave a look to Nanny Wang beside her, indicating that she should clean up the broken porcelain pieces on the ground.

She had already broken a set of teacups.

Seeing that Concubine Heng was still angry, Nanny Wang stepped forward and told her what had happened.

The second prince flew into a rage before he even finished listening. He was so angry that he kicked a chair so hard that he hurt his foot.

Concubine Heng was both angry and distressed, "You child, whose temper do you resemble? You need to calm down."

Helping the Second Prince to sit, Concubine Heng also sat down. "That Nanny Sun is already dead. There is no evidence. What else can we do?"

The second prince calmed down a bit and asked about the sister in Concubine Guo's belly. Yes, she must know what to do.

"Mother, I have a way to save you."

After saying that, he ran out.

Concubine Heng shouted from behind, "You must stay calm," but before she could finish her sentence, the Second Prince disappeared.

She sighed and said to the nanny beside her, "Will the Second Prince do anything?"

The nanny comforted her, "The emperor loves the second prince the most, and the second prince is very smart. It won't happen, so don't worry, Your Majesty."

Why!

The second prince ran all the way to the Weiyang Palace and said, "Your son pays his respects to the emperor, father."

Xiao Hanyi nodded and said, "Get up."

"My mother will never poison Mother Guo. I can guarantee it with my life," the second prince knelt and did not stand up.

He had already instructed his mother to protect Concubine Guo, and she would never take action rashly, let alone with this fatal move. This time, he absolutely believed in his mother.

Xiao Hanyi glanced at the Second Prince, the child he had always loved. He lacked experience and although he was a bit of a dandy, he was not a bad person by nature.

"Don't worry about this matter, I have my own ideas," said Xiao Hanyi.

[Second Prince, go find Liu Qian. Maybe she has a solution. She's the heroine.]

[If you marry her, even if you can't become the crown prince, your life in the second half of your life should be good.]

After hearing this, the second prince thought to himself, let’s give it a try. He came here just to hear Xiao Jiayun’s thoughts. Since she said so, let’s do it!

"Yes, your son believes in your Majesty," the second prince stood up. He wanted to ask Xiao Hanyi to release Concubine Heng first, but he swallowed the words back. After a moment of silence, he decided to give it a try. "Your son wants to marry Liu Qian, the concubine of Liu Yan's family."

[What? He's going to marry the heroine? When did this happen? How did he meet her?]

Xiao Jiayun was shocked. Why did the Second Prince suddenly want to marry Liu Qian? Why was the plot so different? The heroine hadn't yet made her mark, and she should be treading carefully in the Liu family's backyard. Her stepmother was not a kind person and was even thinking of giving her to Lord Liu's boss as a concubine.

It’s hard to say whether the Second Prince can really succeed.

Xiao Hanyi thought he had misheard. Liu Yan? Who is that?

"Liu Yan?" he asked.

The Second Prince said, "It's the Imperial Court Doctor Liu Yan, Sir Liu."

Xiao Jiayun thought for a moment, and Xiao Hanyi also lowered his head to think. It seemed that this matter was possible.

But would Concubine Heng agree to find a princess with such a family background for the Second Prince?

Seeing Xiao Hanyi remain silent, the Second Prince also grew anxious. "Father, I know I cannot make my own decision regarding my marriage, but, but, I fell in love with Miss Liu at first sight. I beg Your Majesty to grant my blessing."

"The marriage of a prince has always been a big event. How can it be treated as a joke? I still need to discuss it with your mother." Xiao Hanyi decided to calm down first. Seeing that the second prince wanted to say something else, he interrupted him directly and said, "You step back first."

The second prince had no choice but to bow and retreat.

After leaving Weiyang Palace, he went straight to Queen Wang. Queen Wang must be very happy about this.

......

"Your son pays his respects to the Queen Mother," the second prince paid his respects to Queen Wang.

Queen Wang is in a very good mood today, "Get up quickly"

She knew the Second Prince must be asking about Concubine Heng's house arrest. This fool actually came to beg her, "Are you here today because of your mother's matter?"

The Second Prince shook his head and said, "This son likes a girl and wants to marry her as his concubine. I beg the Queen Mother to make the decision."

"Hmm?" Queen Wang frowned. Marry a concubine?

"She is the concubine's daughter of the Imperial Court Official, Liu Qian," said the Second Prince.

Queen Wang was momentarily stunned. Imperial Concubine Heng had already selected several noble ladies from aristocratic families for her. All of them came from excellent families. Now he wanted to marry a daughter of the fifth rank? Or a concubine's daughter?

She was unsure of the Second Prince's intentions. "Your marriage is my responsibility, but what about your mother? Even though Concubine Heng is under house arrest, she is still your mother. Have you asked her?"

The second prince said bluntly, "The Empress is the mother of the country, and it has always been my mother who has decided on marriages." After he said that, he knelt down and said, "I beg my mother to grant my blessing."

He is determined to marry Liu Xi.

Although Queen Wang was happy, this was simply too good to be true. If he had married into a wealthy and powerful family, given Concubine Heng's ambition, her son's position as crown prince might have changed.

"Since you have made up your mind, I will help you. You can leave first."

The second prince took his leave.

Three happy events happened in one day, and Queen Wang is now in high spirits.

"Pack up and let's go pay our respects to the emperor."
