Everyone in the entire crew knew that Tao Mu was very good at leading people. It might be a bit exaggerated to describe him as someone who could get into the role in every minute. But as long as the acting skills are up to par and they have prepared carefully before filming, then when acting with Tao Mu, the emotions are indeed more easily catalyzed.
But no matter how powerful the king is, he can’t carry the bronze level. With Shen Yu's current acting skills, even if Tao Mu wants to lead him, it depends on whether Shen Yu can do his best. After all, Tao Mu is just an actor, not a kangaroo.
What's more, although Shen Yu wanted Tao Mu to lead him into the play, there was only one scene left for the two of them to act against each other - the chaotic fight at the dock at the end of the film.
Yan Sheng's undercover identity is exposed, and he leads the police to the dock to round up a gangster boss who wants to escape to Southeast Asia. During the gunfight, Yan Yu helped Zhou Yuanting block the bullet. After leaving a suicide note, Zhou Yuanting abandoned the body and fled, following the gang leader.
Of course, in the mainland version, because Zhuang Ju was dissatisfied with the ending where the positive characters died and the evil forces were able to get away with it, the crew added another scene in which the gang boss and Zhou Yuanting who wanted to escape ended up being thrown into prison. However, Director Xu believed that this change was inconsistent with the theme of the script and the deeper meaning of the film, and he never agreed to this change. The two sides are at a stalemate. It wasn't until a year later that the crew compromised.
However, pirated DVDs of "Black and White" have flooded the mainland. Ultimately, the film’s box office revenue did not exceed 10 million after it was released in mainland China.
This was also the important reason why Director Xu invited Tao Mu to bring in money to join the group, but Tao Mu politely declined.

This is a classic scene that appears in many Hong Kong gangster movies. The props team and lighting and camera crew are busy setting up the set.
Tao Mu and several other big names sat in the dressing room, putting on makeup while waiting for the show.
Because we were shooting a fight scene, and it was the climax scene of the finale, everyone's looks were super cool. The gangsters were all wearing black suits and black shirts, while the police were all wearing Flying Tigers special warfare uniforms.
As one of the protagonists of this scene, Zhou Yuanting uses a Glock 17 pistol. Caliber 9 mm. The main features of this gun are the extensive use of plastic parts, small mass, reliable mechanism action and large ammunition capacity.
However, there is basically no need to consider this issue when shooting a movie. As we all know, when shooting a gun battle movie, even if the protagonist is holding a pistol that can only hold six bullets. As long as the plot requires, the protagonist's gun will always be loaded with bullets.
Those without bullets in their guns can only be supporting roles.
For example, Tao Mu. When he was filming the gun fight scene, there were many shots of him changing magazines with one hand. Because he had been trained in the police academy for several months, Tao Mu's movements were very skilled and standard. Unlike the SWAT instructor who had extensive combat experience invited by the crew, Tao Mu would also consider the camera angle and character temperament when performing actions. When he was training in the police academy, he designed many tactical moves for Zhou Yuanting based on the plot. After several months of silent training, he now looks so handsome in front of the camera.
To use what Queen Fang said to tease Tao Mu, Mr. Tao is absolutely professional at showing off. So much so that during the break in filming, even Zhou Yanqing and several other big names couldn't help but come over and ask Tao Mu for advice on how to change magazines and pose, among other cool tricks.
The filming location chosen by the crew was an abandoned dock. Considering that this gunfight is the final climax of the entire film, the scene is very grand, involving more than 200 actors, and the scene scheduling is very complicated. So Director Xu decided to shoot it in several parts. First shoot the literary scenes, then the close-ups of individual fighting shots, and finally the group scenes.
Because it was an outdoor shoot, it took more than an hour to set up the lighting and sound.
Director Xu learned from previous lessons and finished filming the scenes for Zhou Yanqing, Yan Sheng, Wang Jinsheng, Fang Ruoti and several other actors. It was not until the very end that the filming of Tao Mu and Shen Yu's rivalry began.
After the police and the Flying Tigers entered the dock, Yan Yu frantically searched for Zhou Yuanting and finally found Zhou Yuanting behind a container. A scene of two people confronting each other with guns.
"A Ting!"
Zhou Yuanting turned around and pointed the gun at Yan Yu. Tao Mu's movements were very standard. He raised his finger and pointed at Shen Yu's brow, his arm straight and motionless, his finger on the trigger.
Shen Yu also did the same thing as him. It’s just that Shen Yu’s physical fitness is not very good. He held the gun with both hands, and his arms were shaking. Subconsciously, he hunched his shoulders and had a very bad posture. The most important thing is, whether it was because of nervousness or other reasons, Shen Yu’s finger was hooked into the trigger.
Tao Mu noticed this scene and frowned unconsciously.
"Cut!" Director Xu stuck his head out from behind the monitor and asked Tao Mu, "What's wrong?"
"The posture is wrong." Tao Mu made a gun flower and followed the trend. The movements were so crisp and clear that it was eye-opening. Ya is definitely used to showing off on the set.
"You have to keep your index finger straight and next to the trigger guard, and keep the muzzle facing downward. Because in the script, Yan Yu does not want to kill Zhou Yuanting." When they were training at the police academy, the instructors repeatedly reminded them that before shooting, they must not put their fingers into the trigger guard.
Since Yan Yu didn't want to shoot Zhou Yuanting and he was a regular police officer, he would naturally not make such a mistake.
Don’t think that small details don’t matter. When Tao Mu interprets a role, he likes to use various details to reflect the character’s inner thoughts. Especially micro movements like this. And the advantage of this small design is that it allows the audience to have a more intuitive understanding of the inner portrayal of the characters while watching the movie. The most important thing is that it has little to do with the actor’s acting skills - it does not test acting skills, you just need to experience the role with your heart. To some extent, it is a particularly pleasing little idea.
If your acting skills are not good enough, you can make up for it with small details like this. Try to avoid close-ups of faces.
When Tao Mu got the script and designed the biography of Zhou Yuanting, he suggested using fighting skills to reflect the character's inner changes. Director Xu was greatly inspired. But at that time, Tao Mu wanted to make the character of Zhou Yuanting more profound and three-dimensional.
Now Tao Mu is designing actions for Shen Yu again. Although it seemed like he was overstepping his authority, everyone knew that Tao Mu really disliked Shen Yu's poor acting skills and the fact that he was dragging down the crew. This proposal is definitely intended to take advantage of strengths and avoid weaknesses.
Shen Yu looked embarrassed and couldn't help but explain, "But this scene is about a gunfight at the dock. If I don't hook my finger in, will it not fit the background?"
Tao Mu stopped talking. The suggestion was given to him. Whether Shen Yuken is unwilling to listen is his own problem.
Seeing that Tao Mu ignored him, Shen Yu felt a little embarrassed. He asked eagerly, "Are you angry? Because I didn't listen to your advice? I just think that my idea makes sense."
Director Xu frowned and replayed the previous shot twice. His eyes were fixed on the close-up of Shen Yu's face. After a moment's silence, he said, "Shen Yu, do as Tao Mu said."
Apparently, instead of taking a close-up of Shen Yu's face, he would rather take a close-up of his hand movements. At least it can fully bring out Yan Yu's mood at the moment.
In one shot, two hands holding guns are facing each other. One with the trigger cocked, one without. Visual conflict and the character's inner conflict emerge.
Shen Yu pursed his lips, somewhat unwillingly. He has indeed been rehearsing well in recent times. I rehearse scenes until late every night and feel like I have made a lot of progress. However, the director and other crew members would rather believe Tao Mu.
Even Brother Yan repeatedly told him during the rehearsal that he didn't need to think too much when filming the last scene and just follow Tao Mu.
Even if it's for the sake of camera effects, Tao Mu won't ignore him.
Shen Yu was worried that Tao Mu would not take him with him when filming, and he was always worried. I’m afraid I won’t perform well. But now that Tao Mu really took him with him, Shen Yu felt a little unwilling. He thought of the rumor that was going viral in the crew, saying that Tao Mu was particularly good at bringing people into the play. He was always worried that if he performed well in this scene, others would attribute all the credit to Tao Mu, thus negating his own efforts.
Shen Yu pursed his lips, feeling inexplicably aggrieved.
However, on the opposite side, Tao Mu was taken care of by him. He adjusted his mood and waited for the stage manager to shout "a", then immediately pointed his gun at him.
Because of a trace of hesitation and dissatisfaction in his heart, Shen Yu's movements were half a beat slower than Tao Mu's. When viewed on a surveillance camera, it is visibly sloppy and messy.
"Cut!" Director Xu shouted unhappily, not understanding what bad thing Shen Yu had done again.
"Focus on filming." Director Xu reminded him and did it again.
There was no problem with Shen Yu this time. However, his movements were soft, and the amplitude was too large when he raised the gun. After raising it, he adjusted the angle before pointing it at Tao Mu's brow. The arms are always shaking slightly. Because the sunlight was too hot, I blinked subconsciously.
Compared with Tao Muping's straight and decisive gun-raising action on the opposite side, it was obviously a big difference. It only highlights that Zhou Yuanting is the one who graduated from the police academy.
Director Xu frowned, his perfectionism striking again.
Next, Tao Muguang spent more than half an hour NGing with Shen Yu just for the action of raising the gun. Fortunately, Tao Mu was very strong when he was training in the police academy. When practicing raising the gun, he hung a brick on the muzzle of the gun just like the best police cadets. So even after half an hour, Tao Mu's gun-raising action was still standard.
But Shen Yu couldn't do that. Already wobbling. The amplitude is particularly large.
Director Xu could only shout "cut" and let everyone take a ten-minute break.
The makeup artist immediately stepped forward to touch up Tao Mu's makeup. It is hot summer and the sun is scorching. Although Tao Mu's movements were standard, his makeup was also smudged.
Director Xu looked at Shen Yu, whose arms were so sore that they were trembling slightly, and complained to the martial arts instructor sitting next to him with great regret: "Why didn't I agree to Shen Yu using a double in the first place!"
It's simply making things difficult for myself and the crew.
The martial arts director was sitting on a small stool and smiling. He leaned over to Director Xu and whispered something quietly.
Ten minutes later, the filming continued.
This time, Director Xu was particularly cunning and asked the photographer to find the right angle and take a close-up of the hands. He also asked the prop master to hang Shen Yu on a wire for a pose. This shot finally passed. And the filming was quite successful.
Director Xu happily shouted "OK", and resolutely did not shout "One more take". Instead, he tilted his head out of the monitor and said to Tao Mu: "Come on, Tingzi, it's your time to show off."
"Don't be polite to me!"
