Campus Chronicle 5 Falling off the Cliff

Campus Chronicle 5 Falling off the Cliff

The man turned around and was startled by the sudden roar. He stopped moving and looked back in surprise.

Ye Ruoliu looked at the man's twisted and hideous face, his eyes bloodshot and filled with madness. The man was shocked when he saw Ye Ruoliu and Li Chuanze, and then his face suddenly became fierce.

"Damn it, all of you are trying to ruin my plans. I'm going to kill you all! I'm going to kill you all!"

He cursed fiercely, threw the dying little boy to the ground, suddenly stood up, picked up a thick wooden stick beside him, and was about to swing it at Li Chuanze.

Li Chuanze, a young man of seventeen or eighteen, was in his prime, with extremely fast reaction times. Seeing the other man pick up his weapon, he dodged and dodged the incoming stick. At the same time, he grabbed the other end of the stick the moment it came down.

The man pulled back, trying to wrest control of the stick back. Li Chuanze then kicked the man in the stomach.

The man stumbled backwards after being hit hard by Li Chuanze's kick, and the wooden stick in his hand was snatched away by Li Chuanze. "Fuck!" The man curled up in pain, without the strength to get up.

Li Chuanze stared at him, and Ye Ruoliu took the opportunity to run towards the child, grabbing the boy's thin arm, pulling him up, and then holding him in her arms. Both of them moved quickly and in perfect harmony.

By the time the man reacted and was about to stand up, Ye Ruoliu had already walked up the stone steps with the child in her arms.

Seeing Ye Ruoliu holding the child, the man chased after her furiously. The sound of the wind, mixed with the rustling of fallen leaves, echoed through the forest. The men's breathing became more pronounced. "Put the child down, you bitch! I'll kill you!" His roar echoed through the forest.

Ye Ruoliu was holding the child, her eyes completely red, and she ignored him completely. Li Chuanze hit the man with a stick, but the man seemed to have no pain and his target was directly locked on Ye Ruoliu who was holding the child.

The stone steps were narrow, surrounded by mist and a bottomless cliff. Ye Ruoliu climbed up the steps one by one, not feeling tired at all.

The man chased after him relentlessly, and Li Chuanze struck the man's shoulder hard with the stick. The man groaned and pushed Li Chuanze away. He reached out his hand, but instead of grabbing the child, he pushed Ye Ruoliu hard.

Ye Ruoliu was already unstable holding the child, and with the push, she felt even more like a kite without a string. She stumbled back a few steps, the pressure on her arms holding the boy increasing, and she fell backwards step by step.

Ye Ruoliu had no choice but to put the child on the ground urgently and fall straight off the cliff.

Li Chuanze didn't even think twice and rushed forward. He lay on the edge of the cliff and grabbed Ye Ruoliu's wrist. Most of Ye Ruoliu's body was already in the air, with a thousand-foot cliff under her feet and clouds rolling around her.

The boy was so weak that he didn't know what to do. He could only sit there and couldn't even cry.

"Hold on to me, don't let go!" Li Chuanze gritted his teeth, the veins on his forehead bulged, and he used all his strength to grab Ye Ruoliu's other hand. He grabbed Ye Ruoliu with both hands, trying to pull her up.

Seeing this, the man grabbed the wooden stick that Li Chuanze had thrown on the ground. "All of you go and die!" His eyes were fierce, like a hungry wolf that had been driven mad, and he raised his hand to hit Li Chuanze.

The next moment, the wooden stick, with a sound like tearing the air, smashed heavily on the back of Li Chuanze's defenseless head.

Bang! With a dull and fierce force, he almost let go of Ye Ruoliu's hand.

Li Chuanze's body suddenly stiffened. At that moment, he did not feel severe pain, but it was as if his soul had escaped into the void. He did not know who he was or where he was.

But he kept one thought in mind: he couldn't let go. He gritted his teeth, biting the tender flesh in his mouth, blood seeping from the corners of his lips, but he still didn't let go.

The police fired a shot into the air. "Police! Don't move!" an extremely authoritative shout came from the stone steps below. The man was frightened by the sudden gunshot and the shouting, his whole body froze, and his movements froze instantly.

Several police officers rushed up the stone steps below, clearly exhausted from running. The lead officer locked his gun firmly on the man, who, seeing the gun, dared not move. Like hungry tigers pouncing on their prey, the other officers tackled him to the ground, handcuffed him with a click, and then, with a click, they slapped the cold handcuffs on him.

"My child, my child!" At the same time, a woman came running over with a face full of anxiety and tears in her eyes. The boy realized what was happening and threw himself into the woman's arms, trembling. The mother and son hugged each other and cried bitterly, their bodies shaking.

The woman cried for a while, then glared at the man fiercely and said bitterly, "Why? We've been married for so many years, and you treat me like this! You even treat our child like this!"

The other two policemen quickly rushed to the edge of the cliff. Li Chuanze relied on his last bit of willpower to wait until the police came forward to pull Ye Ruoliu up before letting go. Li Chuanze's eyes went black and his ears were buzzing, making it almost impossible to hear any sound around him.

As he was fading from consciousness, he could only see with blurred vision Ye Ruoliu lying beside him with tears streaming down her face, saying something non-stop, but he could not hear anything. Li Chuanze raised his weak hand, wanting to wipe Ye Ruoliu's tears, but he could not even do such a simple action.

After Ye Ruoliu came up, she fell to the ground and almost crawled to Li Chuanze's side. She saw the man hit Li Chuanze on the back of the head.

"Li Chuanze?" Ye Ruoliu reached out and touched, her hands were covered in blood. Her face was pale and her body was shaking uncontrollably.

An hour had passed when she and Li Chuanze were taken away, and the ambulance was waiting nearby.

With every step Ye Ruoliu descended, she prayed for Li Chuanze's safety. Even as she got into the ambulance, it felt as if her soul was still lingering on those stone steps.

The ambulance honked its sirens all the way to the hospital at lightning speed. Ye Ruoliu kept holding Li Chuanze's hand. Li Chuanze was now like a wooden man, without any consciousness.

At this moment, Ye Ruoliu looked at his lifeless face and the gauze bandaged on his head, which was still oozing with blood, and felt as if her heart had been shattered by a wooden stick. She kept muttering, "Li Chuanze must hold on, please."

At the hospital, Li Chuanze was rushed into the emergency room. Ye Ruoliu sat on a cold bench, watching the passers-by—some laughing and joking, some sad and melancholy. Her heart sank step by step.

She even felt like vomiting. Her chest felt heavy and a nauseous feeling surged from her stomach to her heart, making it hard for her to breathe. She couldn't stand it anymore and ran to the bathroom to vomit violently, as if she wanted to vomit out her heart, liver, spleen, and lungs.

Time passed by minute by minute, and every second seemed like a century of waiting. Ye Ruoliu was wrapped in fear and guilt, and was almost defeated.

"Where is Li Chuanze? Where is my son?" Ye Ruoliu suddenly looked up and saw a woman wearing expensive noble clothes and a lavender lace skirt rushing towards her. It was Li Chuanze's mother, Wang Hui.

Wang Hui immediately saw Ye Ruoliu sitting alone on the bench outside the emergency room, looking disheveled: her face was pale and stained with blood, and her arms and legs had scratches from falling off the cliff.

"It's you again! It's bound to be bad!" Wang Hui pointed at Ye Ruoliu, her tone sharp, "Do you think I didn't know it was you who did it last time you were taken to the police station? This time you sent him straight to the operating room! If anything happens to my son, I will never forgive you!"

Her voice was sharp and piercing, and every word she said was like a needle piercing Ye Ruoliu's heart. Ye Ruoliu felt upset and didn't want to pay any attention to her at all.

Wang Hui grabbed Ye Ruoliu's arm and said through gritted teeth, "I've put up with you for so long! You seduced my son and caused him to become alienated from me and my mother. I will never let you go in this life!"

"Li Chuanze doesn't want to pay attention to you, that's your problem.

Why are you blaming me if you two don't communicate well?

Was it me who caused him to be taken to the police station last time? Was it my fault that he got cheated and had a conflict with someone else?

Also, what happened to Li Chuanze today was just an accident. I didn't want him to become like this. What do you mean by blaming all the faults on me?

Don't forget how you survived, what qualifications do you have to talk to me here?" Ye Ruoliu retorted distractedly.

She didn't want to pay attention to Wang Hui, but Wang Hui was persistent and kept pestering her. In Ye Ruoliu's heart, everyone could blame her except Wang Hui.

If Ye Ruoliu's parents had not given the chance of survival to Li Chuanze's parents, who knows who would be fostered in whose home now.

"Then how did he become like this? If the hospital hadn't called me, I wouldn't even know." Wang Hui was choked by Ye Ruoliu, and continued to retort with her neck stiff.

"It's as simple as the two of us going hiking and encountering a murderer. You should rebuke the murderer instead of rebuking me here." Ye Ruoliu replied.

Ye Ruoliu's words blocked all of Wang Hui's words in her throat, and she couldn't utter a word. Her face flushed red, and she could only say angrily, "You wait for me," and then stood at the door of the emergency room, waiting with Ye Ruoliu.

Ye Ruoliu begged Li Chuanze not to get into trouble. 50% of the reason was because of guilt, 40% was because of love, and the pitiful 10% was because she didn't want Li Chuanze to die, so that she wouldn't have to bear Li Chuanze's life and live with guilt for the rest of her life.

No matter how stubborn she is with others, she will still feel regret and guilt in her heart. So, Li Chuanze, please don't die...

Fortunately, God was kind to her. After the lights in the ICU went out, the doctor slowly came out and asked where Li Chuanze's family was. Wang Hui and Ye Ruoliu both stepped forward, and Wang Hui rolled her eyes at Ye Ruoliu.

Then he said first: "I am Li Chuanze's family member."

The doctor explained to her, "The patient suffered a head injury, but only a surface crack. No damage was done to the brain substance. As long as infection is prevented, there will be no sequelae."

When Ye Ruoliu heard this, she breathed a sigh of relief.
