Yin Haoyu immediately chimed in, "These look like wild eggs! We have another fresh ingredient on our menu today! Xiaxia, you're amazing, I couldn't find them anywhere."
That being said, Min Xiaxia only brought back four eggs. Although the others also chimed in with Yin Haoyu's words, she felt that her hard work was far more popular than the dozen or so fish that Shen Jingchuan had caught.
This made her very unhappy. She wanted to be the center of attention, but reality never seemed to work out!
After enjoying a hearty lunch, the rain intensified.
As the team leader, Jing Hao looked at the gray, hazy sea ahead with worry.
"The weather on the island is unpredictable. If it keeps raining these next few days, we won't be able to leave the camp at all, and then we won't have enough food."
"Then let's make some rain gear," Xu He suggested. "Today, Qin Yan and I collected a lot of palm fiber from palm trees. After repairing the wall, we also have some palm leaves and bamboo left over, which can be used to make straw hats and raincoats."
“We’re about the same age. When we were kids, we used to make raincoats out of this material when it rained. I think it shouldn’t be too hard to make a simplified version.”
Jing Hao nodded: "I do know how to knit hats. I learned it from my grandfather when I was a child."
“Alright!” Min Xiaxia raised her hand. “Since we can’t go out in the rain anyway, let’s do this in the camp this afternoon. Is there anything I can do? Brother Hao, you can assign tasks.”
Since no one went out in the afternoon, it meant that everyone would appear in the same frame, so Min Xiaxia had to make sure she was always in the shot.
She spent the whole afternoon moving between the various camera positions of the photography crew. Although she occasionally made things worse, she didn't cause any major trouble overall.
Time flew by in the midst of this busy activity, and soon it was dark.
Unlike last night, when everyone was sleeping, they suddenly heard some noises.
Immediately afterwards, someone in the camp screamed.
It turned out that a mouse had run in and was running around on everyone's sleeping bags.
The situation improved after several men got up and made the fire burn brighter.
This sudden incident in the night kept everyone awake.
So much so that when everyone woke up the next day, they all had dark circles under their eyes, some light and some heavy.
Qin Yan didn't know what kind of insect bit her last night, but several large bumps appeared on her neck.
It wasn't just her; Yin Haoyu and Jing Hao also had it.
Qin Yan went to Min Xiaxia to ask for insect repellent spray, but it ran out after just one application.
However, she smelled a strong aerosol odor emanating from Min Xiaxia's sleeping bag.
Qin Yan didn't know what to say.
But the result was obvious: Min Xiaxia had used up all the insect repellent spray by herself.
Everyone was frustrated because they couldn't stop the itching.
But worse things were yet to come for them.
When Wen Yan walked out of the camp, she discovered that all the fish they had hung on the branches of a tree next to the camp last night were gone!
There were even some remains of sea bream on the ground!
"Damn it, it seems our food supplies have been stolen by our neighbors in the jungle! We were planning to have fish soup this morning, but it looks like we won't get any now."
"It's alright." Seeing Wen Yan's worried expression, Shen Jingchuan declared from a distance, "I'll go fishing again later, and this time I'll catch even more!"
But when he went to get the fishing line from his bag, he found that the fishing line had been chewed to shreds by the rat that had sneaked in last night!
Everyone was stunned by what they saw.
After a bout of dizziness, Jing Hao began to summarize.
"It seems we were too optimistic. After the successful teamwork of the past two days, I thought this challenge would be easy. After all, this island has abundant resources, and we've already set up camp and have a place to stay."
"But nature taught us a harsh lesson. When it rained, we couldn't go out, and the campsite conditions were poor, with rats and other insects appearing at night, which could very likely bring us diseases."
"Even the food we managed to gather can't be stored. It seems that surviving in the wild is really not easy, much harder than I imagined. Comrades, the revolution is not yet complete, we must continue to strive!"
After the rain subsided a bit, everyone continued to work together, with some going out to find food and others staying home to make rain gear and repair the fence.
The sky finally cleared up in the last two days. During this time, everyone stockpiled firewood and built denser fences to keep out rodents.
Craftsman Jing Hao even made a trap to catch mice.
However, no one dared to eat those rats.
Fortunately, in addition to fish, they also caught pheasants in the jungle.
They processed the surplus food by smoking it and hung it on the roof to prevent wild animals from stealing the stored grain at night.
These are all lessons they learned from repeated failures.
Although the process was somewhat bumpy and much more difficult than they had imagined, they ultimately succeeded in surviving on the island for seven days.
On the last day, at the request of the production team, the seven guests were required to dismantle the campsite they had set up.
Thus concludes the first season of "Jungle Diary," titled "Island Jungle Diary."
Before leaving the island, the production team conducted individual interviews with each guest, asking them to share their personal thoughts.
In this segment, the production team also gave a brief hint about the format that the next season might adopt.
