Wen Yan first ran over and said a few words to Su Yang before joining Qin Yulong and Shen Jingchuan.
What are you two researching?
“I’m looking at the fuse,” Qin Yulong said. “I’ve seen countless fireworks shows since I was a child, but I’ve never lit one myself. Have you ever set off fireworks?”
“Let it go!” Wen Yan nodded. “I’ve also set off firecrackers and snap pops, and I’ve blown up ice cubes and beer cans.”
Qin Yulong didn't quite understand: "What are firecrackers and snap pops?"
"It's a firecracker, it's a little box with a piece of paper on the side. Anyway, I don't know what the technical term is, you just rub the little firecracker on it and it lights up. After it lights up, you throw it on the ground and it explodes."
Playing with snap pops is even simpler. If sparklers contain a risk, snap pops are practically risk-free. However, these two little gadgets are mostly just for making a noise; they're not very entertaining.
Qin Yulong nodded: "I see. Then I won't look forward to it. I prefer something more visually appealing."
She had barely finished speaking when Shen Jingchuan's voice rang out: "It's a good thing you weren't expecting it, because we didn't buy it. And..."
Shen Jingchuan turned his head and stared at Wen Yan: "When did you set off fireworks? Have we ever let our children set off fireworks on their own before?"
"..." Wen Yan blinked. "It was before I came to the Shen family. I let it go before, you just didn't know."
"Oh right." Shen Jingchuan immediately thought of Wen Yan's childhood spent in an orphanage, and he regretted asking that question.
"Let's set off fireworks together every year from now on," he said, looking at Wen Yan with a sincere desire to make her a promise.
