When Wen Yan and Shen Jinghe set off the next day, Shen Jingcheng was even more amazed.
It was one thing for Shen Jing and this young master to personally help Wen Yan carry her luggage and run around for her, but the eldest brother even thoughtfully prepared snacks for Wen Yan during the journey.
Shen Jingchuan went even further, he actually drove his own car and said he wanted to go visit the set.
His reason was that he was free anyway, so he might as well go and visit, and also give his mother a live broadcast.
The key point is that the parents are completely used to it.
Shen Jinghe opened the car door for Wen Yan with a natural, fluid motion.
The car was about to start moving, but Shen Jingchuan still wanted to lean against the window and say a few more words to Wen Yan.
Wen Yan leaned out of the car and waved goodbye to the people outside. Shen Jingxiu actually smiled.
It wasn't until their car drove away and Shen Jingxiu drove to work that Shen Jingcheng asked Su Yang.
"Mom, I feel like everyone has changed a lot. They're all getting very close to Wen Yan. I feel like my little sister has some kind of magic about her."
"Right, you've noticed too. Yan Yan is really a wonderful girl, no one dislikes her. Once you spend more time with her, you'll like her too. The changes in your brothers are inseparable from Yan Yan."
Shen Jingcheng nodded and asked, "What about Wen Yan? Has she changed at all? Or is there anything strange about her?"
"Strange thing? I find your question rather strange. Why would you ask that? Is there anything about her that you find strange?"
"Nothing?" Shen Jingcheng carefully observed the expression on Su Yang's face. "Is there not even the slightest bit of something strange about it?"
"No." Su Yang hadn't even considered the possibility of hearing Wen Yan's thoughts.
Seeing that Su Yang's expression remained unchanged, Shen Jingcheng became even more certain that he was the only one who could hear Wen Yan's thoughts.
He thought for a moment and then asked, "Don't you think Jingchuan and the others are getting too close to Wen Yan?"
"Isn't it good?" Su Yang didn't see this as a problem at all.
But she quickly realized what she meant by "too close"?
“Mom, they’re not here, so I’ll be frank. What I mean by ‘too close’ is a closeness that goes beyond that of a typical sibling relationship.”
“Impossible,” Su Yang said firmly. “Yan Yan is a sensible child. Your older brothers are too.”
"What about Shen Jingchuan? Is he the same?"
Shen Jingcheng pressed for an answer, and Su Yang was stunned for two seconds.
“Jingchuan… he is indeed the most reckless among you brothers, but… wait, do you really think that the relationship between Jingchuan and Yan Yan goes beyond sibling affection? How did you come to that conclusion? I don’t think so.”
Shen Jingcheng thought of the unexpected physical intimacy between Wen Yan and Shen Jingchuan on the terrace that night, but he swallowed the words back down his throat.
He changed his tune, saying, "I was just guessing. Don't twins have a telepathic connection? I think Jingchuan's feelings for Wenyan might be special. Mom, if my intuition is correct, don't you think this is inappropriate?"
"It's not appropriate. Yan Yan is your sister. Although she is not related to us by blood, she is a child I have raised since she was a teenager."
"That's right, that's what I meant too."
"But I've come to terms with it in the last two years. To be honest, I remember your dad bringing this up with me when our whole family went on vacation a couple of years ago. You weren't there that time, and I don't remember why we talked about it. At the time, I just imagined it and found it unacceptable."
But two years have passed, and none of you seem to have any plans to get married. I'm really conflicted. On one hand, I want my children to stay with me forever, to remain in this family. On the other hand, I want you all to start your own families.
But you all have your own ideas, and you won't listen to your parents. You won't go on blind dates, and you won't date. For a while, I was really anxious. But after the anxiety subsided, I figured it out.
We live to experience this world, not to live for our parents, nor are we obligated to get married and have children at a certain age. You don't have to get married, and I'd even accept it if any of you brothers brought a boyfriend home for me.
So if Yan Yan and Jing Chuan are truly in love, as you say, then I won't object. After all, they're not actually siblings, and they haven't violated any ethical or moral principles.
Shen Jingcheng: "…………" We agreed at the beginning that it wouldn't be suitable, but then there was such a sincere reversal.
However, since Su Yang didn't shy away from the matter at all, Shen Jingcheng simply brought it up.
"What if one day all three of them fall in love with Wen Yan at the same time?"
"???" Su Yang didn't speak, but Shen Jingcheng seemed to already see the question marks all over her face.
He continued, "Didn't you just say that no one could dislike Wen Yan?"
"That's way too exaggerated."
"Yes, what if their relationship with Wen Yan breaks down and things get very unpleasant?"
“Impossible,” Su Yang’s tone remained as certain as before. “If that day really came, Yan Yan wouldn’t have let things develop to this point. The harmonious relationship among the brothers can be said to have been fostered by Yan Yan herself. She wouldn’t just stand by and watch the eldest and second eldest brothers’ relationship break down. Besides, didn’t you say that Yan Yan and Jing Chuan are very close? If she really likes one of them, I believe the other brothers would all want her to be happy. If Yan Yan and one of your brothers are mutually in love, wouldn’t you also want them to be happy?”
Shen Jingcheng nodded: "Of course I hope my brothers and sisters are happy."
"That's fine. I believe my children are all capable of handling their own affairs. Your father and I will not interfere too much in your relationships or careers."
"I understand now." After understanding his parents' attitude, Shen Jingcheng took the initiative to end the topic.
For a long time afterward, Shen Jingcheng did not see Wen Yan again. Later, the two only met in online video conferences.
Wen Yan's film "The Silent Secret" was mostly filmed on location, so the filming period was longer than that of a typical studio-shot film, taking about half a year in total.
She didn't go home until filming wrapped.
She had lost weight and gotten quite tanned when she came back this time. Su Yang was heartbroken.
At the welcome banquet, Su Yang held her hand and said, "This time, take a longer rest at home. Look at you, you work even harder as a director than as an actress."
Wen Yan did feel tired at times during filming, but now she only feels happy. Although the film has not been released yet, she still feels a great sense of accomplishment in being able to shoot and produce a complete film.
So now she doesn't feel bitter at all: "Mom, being a director is actually very interesting. I feel a great sense of accomplishment now, and I just can't stop."
"What do you mean? You're going to keep making movies? You're going out again?"
