Chapter 355

As she was reviewing the game, a sudden clap of thunder startled Wen Yan so much that she sat up abruptly in bed.

Immediately afterwards, the sound of rain pouring down outside could be heard.

The heavy rain has finally come down.

Wen Yan simply collapsed onto the bed again, muttering to herself, "Now it should be a bit cooler, right?"

She originally wanted to continue reviewing the previous points, but she felt that reviewing was boring and would make her anxious, so she decided to play on her phone instead.

Therefore, between being anxious and playing on her phone, Wen Yan chose to be anxious while playing on her phone.

Playing on your phone doesn't require using your brain, but as Wen Yan was playing, she suddenly stopped scrolling through short videos—she felt like she had forgotten something.

But she couldn't remember what it was at all.

Until, the night sky was once again ripped open by lightning, and a wet face appeared behind the glass door of Wen Yan's room.

Seeing this, Wen Yan was so frightened that her heart almost jumped out of her chest.

However, as another bolt of lightning flashed, Wen Yan saw it clearly.

Good heavens, that's actually Shen Jinghe...

Wen Yan quickly went over and opened the glass door: "Come in, come in quickly, wait, wait, you're all wet, my hand-woven carpet!"

Shen Jinghe, who had already stepped one leg in, asked, "...Should I go in or not?"

"Come in, come in, come in. What are you doing? Why are you out in the rain in the middle of the night instead of sleeping? And why are you standing on my balcony?"

Shen Jinghe: "You forgot?"

Wen Yan: ? ? ?

Shen Jinghe gritted his teeth: "It seems you really have forgotten."

"Ah!" Wen Yan finally remembered. "No way, you were really waiting for me on the terrace? I didn't agree to meet you."

"Don't you have any? During mealtime."

"Yeah, I didn't mean it as a yes at all, I was just teasing you. You should go back to your room, take a shower, and change your clothes, or you'll catch a cold."

Shen Jinghe turned his head away: "I'm not going."

Wen Yan was speechless: "Are you trying to get yourself killed?"

Shen Jinghe snorted: "With so little rain, it's not enough to kill anyone."

Seeing that Shen Jinghe was being stubborn again, Wen Yan stopped trying to persuade him and instead asked, "Why do you insist that I go to the terrace?"

"I have something to tell you."

"Why couldn't you say where you were going? You had to go to the terrace, and now you're all soaked to the bone."

"Can we not talk about this anymore?" As soon as he finished speaking, Shen Jinghe sneezed.

Wen Yan quickly handed him a tissue: "Alright, hurry up and tell me, then go back and take a shower."

"Okay." Shen Jinghe suddenly looked at Wen Yan, "Do you know about the pressure your older brother is being put on to get married?"

Wen Yan nodded: "I understand a little bit."

"He never compromised."

"Yes, I've heard about it."

That's because he has someone in his heart.

"..."

"What I want to tell you is that I feel the same way. If I were in that situation, I wouldn't compromise either. What my older brother can do, I can do too."

"...Are you still comparing yourself to your older brother?"

"Wen Yan, why do you always think I'm competing with my older brother? I want to tell you that I'm the same way."

Wen Yan blinked, then blinked again: "Look at me, don't you think my head looks huge right now?"

Second brother, my dear second brother, didn't I tell you last time that I still feel...

“I know.” Shen Jinghe interrupted Wen Yan directly. “I didn’t mean to interrupt you, but I know I really don’t want to hear what you’re about to say. So let’s do it this way. You don’t choose anyone, so neither of us will date or get married. We’ll just stay a family forever.”

Wen Yan remained silent, speechless for a moment.

But Shen Jinghe sneezed again, which was completely out of place.

He sniffed: "I've dirtied your carpet. I'll pay you back with a new one tomorrow. I'm going home now."

Wen Yan quickly waved her hand: "No need, I was just joking. I'll just wipe it off later."

"Okay, then I won't stand on ceremony with you. Bye-bye, go to sleep early."

After saying that, Shen Jinghe turned around, opened the glass door, and walked out onto the balcony in the rain.

Wen Yan stared in disbelief: "Are you crazy? Get out of the room!"

Shen Jinghe turned around and silently closed the glass door again: "I'm crazy, you don't need to worry about me."

This silenced Wen Yan again.

They've gone mad, they've really gone mad.

Wen Yan felt she might have trouble sleeping tonight.

So she decided to go downstairs and find a bottle of wine to have a couple of drinks.

As she was heading to the dining room, she heard the sound of the living room door closing.

She looked in that direction and saw Shen Jingxiu just entering the room.

He was carrying a small black paper bag, one shoulder was slightly damp from the rain, and a few strands of wet hair clung to his forehead.

Upon seeing Wen Yan, his dark eyes visibly lit up, but the turbulent emotions in his eyes quickly subsided.

"I went to the car to get something," Shen Jingxiu explained.

Wen Yan then added, "I'm going to find something."

Shen Jingxiu hummed in agreement and gave Wen Yan a slight smile.

Wen Yan smiled at him and then strode into the restaurant.

A few strands of wet black hair hanging down, eyes that suddenly dimmed, and that beautiful yet somewhat sad smile.

For some reason, Wen Yan felt that Shen Jingxiu seemed about to shatter at that moment.

I suddenly feel very sad.

I originally only planned to have a small drink.

Finally, Wen Yan downed half a bottle of wine before returning to her room, feeling warm and cozy.

She slept very restlessly that night.

Because I had a super realistic dream.

It felt so real, like being there in person, not in a dream.

In my dream.

It was an endless expanse of darkness.

She was driving, and in the passenger seat sat a fat man she didn't recognize, who was yawning incessantly.

There was a young girl leaning against the back seat of the car. She seemed to be feeling unwell, as she kept clutching her stomach and looked quite pale.

At this moment, as the driver, she was very anxious. She wanted to drive away from the endless darkness as soon as possible and take the girl in the back seat to the hospital.

Suddenly, for some reason, the car suddenly went out of control, and no matter how she turned the steering wheel or stepped on the brakes, it was no use.

She screamed for help, but no sound came out.

Finally, the car suddenly overturned, and everyone was trapped under it.

She still couldn't make a sound, but all she could hear were the painful wails of the fat man and the young girl.

Wen Yan kept having this dream all night long.

Every time it ended in a car accident, every time it started with her driving, and every time she was screaming at the top of her lungs.

So much so that when she woke up, her throat felt almost hoarse. Even her hands felt so heavy that she could barely lift them, as if she had been turning a steering wheel all night.

And this is just the beginning.

Since that day, Wen Yan has dreamed about this scene from time to time, and it keeps repeating itself. Every time it is the same content, so much so that Wen Yan can memorize every detail of the dream.
