[These are all credits from others; she's just reciting from the script. But she can't tell the truth. Whatever, as long as it works!]
Lin Shaoyang didn't care whose credit it was, since he didn't know him anyway. Since it was his sister who said it, it must be his sister's doing. His sister was the most amazing.
"Okay, Second Brother understands. Don't worry, just go about your business. Second Brother will be careful and make sure I come back as a lively and energetic Second Brother, and with a thriving Bai Xiang Lou restaurant, okay?"
Lin Shaoyang knew that his sister was most worried about her brothers and mother, so he made a promise to her to put her mind at ease.
He and his third brother were already making plans, just waiting for those people to come and take advantage of them.
"I understand, Second Brother, please take good care of yourself."
Hearing her second brother's words, Lin Yuxin finally felt a little relieved after being busy and anxious for the past two days.
She needs to learn to trust them, to believe that they can fight against fate.
The brother and sister chatted for a while longer before Lin Yuxin went home first.
...
Time flies, and in the blink of an eye, it was time for Lin Yuxin to leave. That day, Li Xiaochen drove his carriage to the gate of the Zhao residence early in the morning to wait for her.
"Your Highness...?"
When Zhao Hanyue heard from the servants that the Regent was waiting at the gate, she didn't believe it. But when she saw that the Regent was actually waiting at the gate, she was so frightened that she couldn't speak properly.
"Yes, Mrs. Lin!"
A hint of respect appeared on Li Xiaochen's cold face as he bowed to Zhao Hanyue.
This gesture of respect startled Zhao Hanyue, sending a chill down her spine. Yet, she also sensed something within it; something flashed through her mind, and she hesitated for a long moment before speaking:
"Your Highness, would you like to go inside and wait for Yuxin? She should be here soon."
"No need, she's out!"
Li Xiaochen replied indifferently, then got off the carriage and walked towards the gate. Just then, he saw Lin Yuxin walking out quickly, followed by Xiao Hao and Xueying.
Xueying was holding the imperial sword in her hands and carrying a package on her back.
"I'm sorry to have kept you waiting, Your Highness!"
Lin Yuxin saw Li Xiaochen standing at the door waiting, so she quickly gave a perfunctory bow and winked at Li Xiaochen when Zhao Hanyue couldn't see her.
[Your mother is watching, don't reach out, don't reach out! Keep it low-key!]
"It's alright! Let's go!"
Seeing Lin Yuxin's reaction, Li Xiaochen silently withdrew his outstretched hand, gave a curt reply, and then turned to walk back towards the carriage.
Lin Yuxin obediently held Xiao Hao's hand and followed behind. When they passed Zhao Hanyue, she didn't notice Zhao Hanyue's stiff limbs. She tugged at Zhao Hanyue's sleeve and said reluctantly:
"Mother, I won't be back for several months. Please take care of yourself and don't worry me, okay?"
Zhao Hanyue quickly recovered from her shock, grasped Lin Yuxin's hand, opened her mouth as if to say something, but couldn't utter a word.
Anyone would be even more heartbroken to find out on the same day that their daughter has fallen for someone, and that this person is the regent, and they're about to elope... no, they're about to go out to work together!
Zhao Hanyue took one last deep breath and said to the prince who had already reached the carriage:
"Your Highness, may I speak with you for a moment?"
Li Xiaochen glanced at Lin Yuxin, then nodded in agreement:
"Can."
Afterwards, with a heart full of trepidation, Lin Yuxin looked at her mother and Li Xiaochen, and reluctantly took Xiao Hao into the car first, turning back every few steps.
After Xueying put the imperial sword into the carriage, she sat down beside it, while Wang Yu stood by the carriage waiting for his lord.
Lin Yuxin waited in the car, her hands clenched tightly. She didn't know what her mother would say to Li Xiaochen.
Why would Mother talk to Li Xiaochen? Did she discover something? Sigh! It's not that she intentionally wanted to hide it, she's just been busy these past few days, she hasn't had the time! She'll tell Mother about her and Li Xiaochen when she gets back!
She just stared blankly at the two people she loved most, talking there for a long time, before Li Xiaochen finally came over, got into the carriage, and said to Wang Yu:
Let's go!
Then the carriage headed out of the city.
Lin Yuxin panicked and quickly peeked out to look at Zhao Hanya, whose eyes were already red. Zhao Hanya's eyes were also full of tears. This was the first time she had left her mother's side since she transmigrated, and she was still a little reluctant to part with her.
After Zhao Hanyue's figure gradually disappeared, she pulled herself out of her thoughts and sat there quietly without saying a word.
Li Xiaochen reached out a hand and gently held Lin Yuxin's hand, just holding it without saying a word, simply staying by her side.
Xiao Hao noticed his sister's unhappiness and sat next to her the whole time without saying a word.
After a while, Lin Yuxin finally came to her senses, turned to look at Li Xiaochen, and asked:
What did my mother say to you?
"It's nothing, I just want you to be protected!"
Li Xiaochen looked at her and said softly.
"Really? Then why did it take so long?"
Lin Yuxin didn't believe him and looked at him suspiciously.
"Really, how could I lie to you!"
Li Xiaochen reached out and pinched Lin Yuxin's cheek, answering in a serious tone.
He was telling the truth, but he didn't mention his promise to Lin's mother or the imperial decree bestowing the marriage upon them.
He went to the palace that night to request the imperial decree for their marriage. He didn't want to wait until he returned to ask for the decree, but instead asked the emperor to issue it in advance. However, he took on the task of reading the decree, wanting to give Lin Yuxin a surprise.
He couldn't wait to marry her, but he hadn't seen Lin Yuxin for the past few days, so he hadn't told her about it.
With this imperial decree, Lin Yuxin was now undoubtedly his regent's wife.
