Chapter 114 Distributing Porridge

As soon as she arrived at the city gate, she saw the man who had taken her silver notes collecting money from the people. When some people refused to pay, he pushed them while cursing.

Lin Yuxin sneered inwardly!

What goes around comes around; no one escapes the wrath of Heaven. Those who have taken what I have, it's time for them to spit it out!

"Wow, the official's arrogance seems to be growing all morning longer!"

Lin Yuxin led her people over and stopped him from continuing his insults, speaking sarcastically.

"You? Didn't you go in? Why are you out again? You want to meddle? Get lost! But now that you're out, if you want to go back in, everyone will have to pay one hundred taels of silver!"

When the official saw Lin Yuxin come out again, he first frowned, then said in a way that seemed to say, "I'm not afraid of anything."

Because the city gate was a bit far from the government office, Lin Yuxin stormed the government office as soon as she entered, so no one came out to inform her. The government office was no longer under Zhong Zu'an's control.

"Of course, I came out to get rid of the rats, but this time you won't be getting any money from me!"

Lin Yuxin looked at the official's expression and shook her head, as if she were looking at a monkey.

"A rat? Where did this rat come from!"

The official was unaware that the rat Lin Yuxin was referring to was him, nor did he notice that Lin Yuxin referred to herself as a princess. He looked at Lin Yuxin with suspicion and asked her a question.

"Rats? You're the vermin, of course! Catch them!"

Lin Yuxin's casual expression instantly turned serious as she spoke to the person behind her.

With a single sword behind him, he led his men forward and immediately arrested the six officials at the city gate.

"What...what do you want to do? You even dare to arrest government officials? Don't you want to live? Once our superiors find out, you're all dead."

The leading official, still reeling from his arrest, struggled and tried to resist, yelling at Lin Yuxin and the others.

But no matter how much he struggled, it was all in vain. Dan Dao and his men were skilled at capturing people. If he couldn't even handle this, he wouldn't be able to get along with the Emperor.

"Your master? Oh! You mean Zhong Zu'an? Then you probably won't be able to wait for him. He's locked up in a cell and starving right now."

Lin Yuxin watched with amusement as his face gradually paled, and said with a smile.

"How is this possible? Who are you?"

The guard looked at Lin Yuxin in disbelief and asked.

"Why don't you go to jail and ask your superiors who I am? Take me away!"

Lin Yuxin didn't waste any more words with them and directly ordered her subordinates to take them back.

Several gatekeepers were immediately taken away.

Lin Yuxin had Dan Dao arrange the prepared items, and then placed the two large buckets on the wooden plank.

The people around looked at each other in bewilderment, wondering what the young woman was up to.

"Hello everyone, I am Princess Pingning, personally appointed by the Emperor. I have come here to help you by imperial decree. I know that many of you have not eaten for many days. I have prepared porridge and steamed buns. Each of you can take a bowl of porridge and a steamed bun."

"Once you've finished eating and have your energy back, those of you who wish to stay can come here to collect supplies and build your own simple shelter. You can stay here temporarily. If you want to go home, come over and each of you can collect five taels of silver and ten catties of rice. Go home now!"

Lin Yuxin looked at the people around her and spoke loudly, trying to keep her smile gentle.

Lin Yuxin's words were like a pebble dropped into deep water, stirring up a thousand waves, and the surrounding discussions surged forth.

"Really? We can get porridge? Is it free?"

"Mom, listen! That pretty lady said we can go get food now! Mom, we won't go hungry anymore!"

"Princess, can we really get free porridge?"

There was a constant murmur of discussion around them, and some of the bolder ones even shouted at Lin Yuxin.

"It's true. If you don't believe me, you can try coming over and getting some porridge."

As Lin Yuxin spoke, she walked to the side and pointed to a table set up next to her, along with two large buckets.

My subordinate was very perceptive; he immediately lifted the lid of the bucket, and the aroma of the porridge inside wafted out, carrying far and wide.

The locals smelled the aroma and began to salivate; some quick-thinking individuals had already grabbed bowls and joined the queue.

"Sir, let me go first, let me go first!"

"Me! I'll go first!"

Seeing the fierce fighting among the commoners at the table, Dan Dao, standing nearby, drew his sword from his waist and swung it at them.

"Smack!"

The sound of the sword striking the wooden table startled the villagers, who immediately fell silent and looked at the single-edged sword with lingering fear.

"Shut up! Line up!"

The single-edged sword technique is concise and to the point, conveying a sense of pressure.

The villagers dared not cause any more trouble and obediently lined up, and those behind them also lined up obediently.

Each person received a bowl of porridge and a steamed bun. Even with hundreds of people, it took a long time to distribute the porridge. Two buckets of porridge were simply not enough, and they had to go back and fetch more twice to make sure it was enough.

After distributing almost all of them, Lin Yuxin said to the single-edged sword:

"I'll leave this to you. Their fate is up to them. Just give them the terms I just mentioned. The money will be from the funds I've extracted from the government office. I'll head back now."

"Yes, Your Highness, please rest assured that this matter is in my hands."

He clasped his hands in a respectful bow, saw Lin Yuxin off, and sent two men to escort the princess back.

Lin Yuxin didn't waste any words and headed straight into the city.

This time, I didn't take a carriage back; I walked. Along the way, I heard people hurrying along, muttering to themselves:

"Hurry, hurry up! The government is distributing grain today. Bring your household registration records. Grab the grain according to the registration. If you're late, it will be gone."
