Chapter 27 Breaking into the Bedroom

"Siqin, I was just saying, why are you so nervous? But speaking of which, you haven't married for so many years, you're practically an old maid now. If a daughter of this size really appeared, you'd probably be thrown into a pig cage!"

Zhao Hanyue, seeing her nervousness, acted as if she hadn't noticed, and added fuel to the fire.

"This... Sister Han Ya, what are you saying? I just haven't found anyone suitable yet. I... I have something to do, so I'll have to go now! Sister Han Ya, I'll come see you again next time!"

Feeling guilty after being confronted, Wang Siqin hurriedly said a few words to cover her tracks before fleeing in panic.

"Mother, now that you know Lin Qianqian is their daughter, why don't you expose the three of them?"

Lin Yuxin watched Wang Siqin's retreating figure, then pouted and asked curiously.

"It's not the right time yet. Exposing them prematurely will only embolden them to swagger around under my nose and disgust me. It's fine as it is now, watching them jump around like clowns. It's good."

"Moreover, if Wang Siqin still cares about her reputation, as long as we don't push her too far, she'll probably endure it until I'm divorced and then take my place."

Zhao Hanyue looked at her daughter and patiently explained to her.

Lin Yuxin understood and nodded vigorously.

"Mother is still the best."

[Old ginger is spicier! Mother is awesome!!!]

“Your maternal grandfather sent someone over today to check on you. I told him I would take you back to see him tomorrow.”

Zhao Hanyue smiled as she looked at Lin Yuxin and reached out to pat Lin Yuxin's head.

"Grandfather?"

Lin Yuxin looked at Zhao Hanyya in surprise. She had been back for more than a month and had not yet met the legendary General Who Protects the Nation!

[That's good. I'll go see her before the state banquet. She also mentioned wanting to find an opportunity to meet her maternal grandfather, the Great General Who Protects the Nation!]

"Yes! He heard about what happened yesterday, so he sent someone to check on you and asked me to take you back to see him sometime so you can get to know him."

Zhao Hanyue nodded and smiled.

"Alright! But Mother, tomorrow is your scumbag father's three-day appointment. We'll be leaving the manor, so what about him?"

Lin Yuxin nodded, then remembered something and asked.

"There's no need to wait until tomorrow; he'll come this morning to stall for time!"

His face immediately turned cold at the mention of Lin Xiong'an, and he said indifferently.

Alright! As long as Mother understands!

“Mother, I’ll go back now. I’m going to prepare some gifts for my grandfather.”

After saying that, Lin Yuxin went straight back to her courtyard.

"This girl!"

Zhao Hanyue shook her head with a chuckle.

...

Lin Yuxin returned to the courtyard and went straight to the backyard. She planned to send some precious medicinal herbs to her maternal grandfather, since she had no money and could only give away the things in her spatial storage.

Fortunately, they were family, so she didn't feel bad about giving them away.

As soon as I entered the backyard, I saw Xiaohao weeding in her little herb garden.

"Xiao Hao? What are you doing? Are you feeling better?"

Lin Yuxin called out to him.

Xiao Hao froze, cautiously raised his head to look at Lin Yuxin standing by the herb field, and spoke tentatively:

“I…I’m much better now, and I don’t have much to do every day! Since I had nothing to do, I saw that there were medicinal herbs planted here. I used to do these chores at my adoptive father’s house, so I can do them.”

Seeing how cautiously he spoke, Lin Yuxin stepped forward helplessly, raised her hand to pat his head, and said softly:

"It was my oversight. I've been too busy lately and forgot about you. But you're too young to do these things. If you're bored, starting tomorrow, I'll find you a teacher to teach you to read and write, and to learn martial arts, okay?"

[Now, let him learn more self-defense skills. Given his status, that will give him a chance to survive in that ruthless place and eventually become the ultimate ruler. Although he eventually succeeded, having more skills is never a bad thing; at least he'll suffer less.]

"good!"

Although Xiao Hao didn't quite understand what his sister was saying, he knew that she wouldn't harm him.

"Alright, now help me dig up some herbs. I'm going to my maternal grandfather's house tomorrow to deliver some precious medicinal materials."

Seeing that he had agreed, Lin Yuxin smiled and gave the instructions.

She didn't treat Xiao Hao like a porcelain doll just because of his identity; instead, she started teaching him some common sense about life.

"Um!"

"Xiao Hao! Let me teach you some basic pharmacology now! Maybe it will come in handy later."

Seeing that he nodded, Lin Yuxin began to explain the pharmacology to him.

She pointed to a medicinal herb on the ground and said:

"This plant is called Elsholtzia ciliata. It is pungent and slightly warm. It is used to relieve fever, harmonize the middle jiao and resolve dampness, and promote diuresis and reduce swelling."

"This plant is called perilla. It is pungent and warm. It is used to release exterior pathogens and dispel cold, regulate qi and relieve chest tightness, calm the fetus, and detoxify fish and crab poisoning."

"This plant is catnip, which is pungent and slightly warm. It is used to dispel wind and release the exterior, promote rash eruption and relieve itching, and stop bleeding."

Xiao Hao listened attentively. He wasn't stupid; in fact, he was quite smart. He could remember a lot of what Lin Yuxin taught him after just one lesson.

That afternoon, Lin Yuxin taught Xiao Hao about the medicinal herbs planted in the backyard.

After dinner, Lin Yuxin took a pharmacology book from her spatial storage and tossed it to Xiao Hao.

"You've learned most of the medicinal herbs in the backyard today. Go see them more often and you'll remember them all. But there are thousands of Chinese herbs. I don't expect you to learn them all, nor do I expect you to study medicine in the future. For now, you just need to master basic pharmacological knowledge and learn to distinguish between poisons and life-saving medicines."

"You can read this book first. Once you've memorized it, I'll give you another one. Tomorrow you'll practice martial arts with Uncle Xueying. Don't give up, understand?"
