Chapter 308 Competition

Ji Qingxue stretched out her hand in confusion, waved it in front of him, and asked:

"Brother Lin, what's wrong?"

Lin Chenglie was taken aback. Brother Lin? Although it was the first time he had heard Ji Qingxue call him Brother Lin, he was still very happy, which meant that their relationship was gradually getting closer.

But suddenly he wanted more; he wanted to hear her call him Ah Lie!

Thinking of this, Lin Chenglie grabbed the little hand dangling in front of him, held it in his hand, stared intently at Ji Qingxue, and said expectantly:

"You don't need to call me Brother Lin, just call me A-Lie!"

Lin Chenglie seemed to have suddenly had a breakthrough and started playing straight-up.

Ji Qingxue was startled by Lin Chenglie's sudden action. Her heart raced, and she instinctively tried to pull her hand back, but couldn't budge it.

Seeing Lin Chenglie's determined gaze, Ji Qingxue finally realized what Lin Chenglie had asked her to do. Her fair face grew increasingly red, impossible to hide.

After a long pause, she lowered her head shyly and whispered:

"Ah Lie!"

When Lin Chenglie heard her soft voice calling his name, he felt a tingling sensation all over his body, and his heart was itching. His gaze towards Ji Qingxue gradually warmed, and he wanted to hug her.

However, Lin Chenglie was a very meticulous person. Knowing that they were outside and the environment did not allow it, he only secretly squeezed Ji Qingxue's hand before reluctantly letting go of it.

Taking a step back is a distance that won't cause any misunderstandings. Although the two are about to get married, it's to avoid being discovered and damaging Ji Qingxue's reputation.

Lin Chenglie paid close attention to this point.

After hearing Lin Chenglie's actions and words, Ji Qingxue realized that her feelings were not one-sided, and she gradually felt relaxed and sweet. The atmosphere between the two gradually became harmonious and warm.

Lin Yuxin and Lin Chenglie were both very sweet together, while Lin Shaoyang and Lin Shixiao, two single guys, went to choose horses out of boredom, preparing for a race.

As a result, they ran into some of Zhao Chenxi's cousins.

"Cousin? What are you doing here?"

Lin Shaoyang looked at them with a delighted expression. "Wow! A bunch of single guys! They've all gathered!!"

"Xin Xin sent someone to tell us last night that she would take us horseback riding today, but when we asked, we couldn't find her for a long time, so we had to ride horses for a while first! Weren't you with Xin Xin? Where is she?"

Zhao Chenxi began to explain, and after looking around at Lin Shaoyang and the others, he didn't see Xin Xin either, and asked in confusion.

"Her? The prince is here today too. Now that this girl has a fiancé, she doesn't care about her brother anymore. She's busy flirting with the prince right now. She doesn't have time to pay attention to us. Let's just have some fun by ourselves!"

Lin Shaoyang's expression was indescribable after hearing his cousin's words! However, he still went over and whispered a few complaints in Zhao Chenxi's ear, while also explaining his younger sister's whereabouts.

What my own sister did was so unfair! She invited them over to play and then just left them hanging!

"Hehe! Alright then! It's rare to see Xin Xin so willful, that's good! We're all out here now, how about we have a competition?"

Zhao Chenxi chuckled upon hearing this. He hadn't expected that his usually calm, collected, and capable cousin Xin Xin would also have moments of irrationality. He then ignored her and pointed with interest to the horses behind him.

"Alright! We brothers don't usually have time to get together properly. Today, let's each rely on our own abilities. The loser will treat everyone to a meal at Fu Man Lou."

Lin Shaoyang also became interested and said happily.

"Alright! Let's have a competition!"

The brothers enthusiastically began selecting horses, each one determined to win.

Even the two seven- or eight-year-old children, Zhao Chenhai and Zhao Chenfeng, were full of fighting spirit.

After the seven boys had chosen their horses, they headed to the horse farm ahead.

But they were stopped by a group of young men dressed in fine clothes.

"Hey? Isn't this Zhao the Madman? Why aren't you in your dad's army camp being a dog? Why are you running around here having fun? Aren't you afraid your dad will find out and give you extra training?"

The tallest boy in the middle of the group of teenagers looked at Zhao Chenhai provocatively and said...

“Young Master Yu, we came out today with the permission of our father and grandfather, so you don’t need to worry about anything else.”

Despite his young age, Zhao Chenhai had a cold face as he looked at Prince Yu across from him and spoke, but his indifference was a stark contrast to that of Prince Yu.

"What's going on with them? Does my fourth cousin have a grudge against that Yu Minhong?"

Lin Shaoyang looked at the group of teenagers blocking their way with a puzzled expression, then turned to his older cousin Zhao Chenxi and asked in a low voice.

"Hey! This Yu Minhong is the only son of Marquis Wu'an. Marquis Wu'an used to be under my grandfather's command. After our family had trouble, we were powerless to fight, so Marquis Wu'an turned around and followed the Regent to the battlefield."

"After returning from his meritorious service, he was granted the title of Marquis of Wu'an. He didn't accomplish anything significant after that. He had heard somewhere that our family had a new training program, and that the soldiers we trained were capable of fighting a hundred men each."

"He got the idea and went straight to his grandfather, asking him to bring his son in to train with us. He probably wanted to find a new way out for the Marquis of Wu'an's family."

"That kid is a tough one. He started provoking us as soon as he arrived, but ended up getting thrashed. I don't know why, but he was beaten by everyone in the army. Yet he and my fourth brother are at odds. They argue whenever they meet, and he feels uncomfortable if he doesn't have a fight. He just gets more and more courageous after each setback."

Zhao Chenxi listened to Lin Shaoyang's question, looked at the group of kids opposite him with amusement, and explained.

"Oh! Then there's going to be a good show later?"
