Chapter 31 Second Uncle Zhao Yingfeng

Neither the father nor the daughter spoke immediately upon entering the study. After a long pause, Zhao Shijie looked at his daughter and asked:

"Who told you this?"

"My daughter found out by chance!"

Zhao Hanyue didn't know that her father could hear her thoughts, so she wanted to keep it a secret. The fewer people who knew her thoughts, the better, not even her father.

Zhao Shijie glanced at her, snorted coldly, and said:

"Hmph! Something strange happened when Yuxin came today. She didn't move her mouth, but I could hear her talking. And what she said was the same thing you said."

"Father, you..."

Zhao Hanyue looked at her father in surprise. Could it be that her father could also hear her thoughts?

"If I'm not mistaken, that voice was Yuxin's innermost thought! And what exactly happened with what you're talking about? Give me a truthful answer."

Zhao Shijie looked at his daughter and said seriously.

"Father…"

Having no other choice, Zhao Hanyue told her and her three sons about how they could hear their daughter's thoughts, and also mentioned some things that their daughter could foresee.

After he finished speaking, Zhao Shijie, who had lived most of his life, was still in a daze for a long time.

"Father?"

Zhao Hanyue looked at her father, worried that he might be upset, and called out to him.

"Hanya, your daughter is extraordinary! But this is something I should keep to myself. Judging from what she did just now, it seems that only the two of us in the Zhao family can hear Yuxin's true feelings. So let's not tell anyone else about this."

Zhao Shijie snapped out of his daze, recalling the expressions on his family's faces in the living room, and solemnly gave his daughter some instructions.

"Yes! Your daughter understands!"

This concerns her daughter's safety; she won't take the risk.

"Father, what about this matter?"

Zhao Hanyue added another question, still feeling uneasy.

"Whether this is true or not, I will pay attention. However, if it does happen, our Zhao family will not back down. I can only take remedial measures in advance so that your mother and the others can have an easier time later."

Zhao Shijie knew what his daughter wanted to say, but as a general of the country, he could not desert his post during a time of national crisis.

"Father!"

Zhao Hanyue was about to say something when Zhao Shijie interrupted her.

"Alright, I have my own plans. By the way, since Yuxin has something to say to me, why don't you bring her over later?"

Zhao Shijie had made up his mind.

Zhao Hanyue looked at her father, feeling extremely sad. She knew and understood his thoughts, but she couldn't accept them.

If my father doesn't come back, this family will fall apart.

But knowing she couldn't stop it, Zhao Hanyue held back her tears and walked out of the study.

"Why!"

Zhao Shijie watched his daughter's retreating figure and sighed.

Meanwhile, things were quite lively on Lin Yuxin's side.

"Sister Yuxin, look, that's the back garden. Second Aunt planted a lot of roses there. They're very beautiful. I'll take you there."

"What are you looking at flowers for? Sister Yuxin, come on, I have lots of fun things to do, I'll take you!"

Zhao Chenhai and Zhao Chenfeng are about the same age and younger than Lin Yuxin. They are just like children, and they want to show Lin Yuxin the things they like.

"Okay, I'll go look at them one by one, okay?"

Lin Yuxin smiled helplessly.

"Alright, you two little devils, this is Yuxin's first time here, let's show her around first."

The eldest cousin, Zhao Chenxi, was the most mature and steady. He glared at the two younger ones, then looked at Lin Yuxin and said:

"Yuxin, there are too many kids in the house, so it's a bit noisy. Please don't mind!"

"Hehe, cousin, how could that be? It's more lively with more people, I quite like it."

Lin Yuxin shook her head and said.

Afterwards, the older cousin led his younger siblings on a walk around, and told them many embarrassing stories from their childhood, which made Lin Yuxin laugh out loud.

However, when they passed by their second uncle's yard, the brothers were in low spirits. The eldest cousin said sadly:

“This is my second uncle’s courtyard. My father died in battle, and my second uncle was paralyzed. He hasn’t left this courtyard in all these years.”

Zhao Chendong, who was standing to the side, also lost his smile. He was powerless to do anything about his father's current condition, and all he could do was work even harder.

Lin Yuxin saw that the group of people who had been so lively just moments before had all fallen silent. The passing of their eldest uncle ten years ago and the injury to their second uncle were wounds in their hearts.

So she began to speak:

"Can I go in and see my second uncle?"

"Can."

Everyone turned to look at Zhao Chendong. He was taken aback, but seeing that Lin Yuxin was serious, he nodded in agreement.

However, he only brought Lin Yuxin in with him. The others waited patiently at the door. His second uncle didn't like them seeing him like that, so they always came secretly to see him.

Zhao Yingfeng has been bedridden for ten years, and his health is no longer what it used to be.

Over the years, he went from being a general to a useless person. Only he knows the bitterness of this experience. That's why he doesn't allow the younger generation in his family to come and see him, so that they can be free from constraints, pressure, and sadness.

When Lin Yuxin followed Zhao Chendong into her second uncle's room, she smelled a strong medicinal odor.

Why does it smell so strongly of medicine?! Aren't they opening the windows for ventilation? How can my second uncle stand it?

Lin Yuxin looked around and saw that there were no windows open, but since she had just arrived, she couldn't interfere, so she had no choice but to follow them inside.

As you approach, you'll see a handsome man sitting on the bed. However, perhaps due to being paralyzed at home for a long time, his skin has become sickly pale, and he is excessively thin.
