The third palace maid asked, puzzled.

An older palace maid suddenly lowered her voice and said fearfully, adding at the end:

The palace maids were astonished and were about to ask something when they heard a sharp shout from behind them:
"Do you all have a death wish? How dare you discuss the Emperor's affairs?"
