Chapter Eighteen Qin Qiu

The meaning of a person's existence, including their personality and emotions, actually stems from that person's memories.

If he forgets everything, does he still exist in this world?

He felt that having no memory was the same as being dead.

So he secluded himself, trying to slow down the rate at which his power was increasing by staying away from conflict.

But this obviously didn't work.

One day, he hunted a bird that tasted delicious and climbed back into his cave from outside the mountain.

He looked up as if possessed, and then froze.

What is that...?

What did he forget?

He realized that he had forgotten something, but he couldn't remember what it was at all.

When he returned to the cave that day, he did not cook the prey, but instead hugged his knees and curled up tightly.

The next day, he forgot even that fear, leaving only a sense of loss.

Soon after, he noticed unusual activity in the forest and went out to investigate.

It was a horde of zombies that swept in like a tidal wave, engulfing a base before quickly leaving.

He watched from afar. He didn't remember anything about that base, so he couldn't be sure if he had any connection to it.

Strangely, a few days later, the zombies returned.

This made the animals uneasy and affected his hunting.

He could only go further, even to the foot of the cliff to try his luck.

Whether it was good luck or bad luck, he didn't find any prey, but instead caught a woman.

A woman who fell from the sky, looking like she was on her deathbed.

Now, noticing Ye Nianzhen's gaze directed at him, he shifted slightly awkwardly, changing from a squatting position to a cross-legged sitting position.

"You're awake. You need to eat. Eating more will help your injury heal faster."

As he spoke, he pushed the package toward Ye Nianzhen's hand, making it clear that he wanted her to eat quickly.

Ye Nianzhen remained silent, simply picked up the food, and began to eat slowly.

The superhuman's regenerative ability is indeed amazing. When she eats, it aggravates her wounds, but the pain no longer affects her.

She chewed carefully. The meat of these high-level monsters didn't taste good, but it was full of energy and was indeed suitable for the wounded to eat.

Seeing that she had almost finished eating, the man handed her a few more level-two magic crystals, gesturing to Ye Nianzhen.

"This will give you energy."

Ye Nianzhen noticed that he actually had even higher-grade magic crystals in his hands, but he probably didn't offer them up because he knew Ye Nianzhen couldn't absorb them.

Ye Nianzhen nodded and accepted. After swallowing a few magic crystals, the power that was depleted in her body was replenished, and she felt warm and comfortable.

Overcome with drowsiness, Ye Nianzhen made no resistance and drifted off to sleep once again.

This dream was peaceful; there were no zombies, no falling off a cliff, and no deep-seated hatred from past lives.

Seeing that Ye Nianzhen was asleep, the man watched her quietly for a while, then stood up and went to keep watch outside the cave.

Tonight is the waning crescent moon, and its pale light shines on his powerful back, reflecting a natural luster.

The man gazed at the moon.

Occasionally, a bird would fly across the sky, and his gaze would shift for a moment.

Like a nimble and steady feline.

After an unknown amount of time, his ears twitched, noticing subtle noises coming from inside the cave.

Ye Nianzhen walked out of there, her spirits fully restored.

She leaned leisurely against the mountain wall, listening to the distant cries of unknown animals.

The man turned around and saw the moonlight falling on Ye Nianzhen's nose, illuminating a bright spot.

Like those things that always appear together with a large disc.

He finally couldn't contain his curiosity and asked, "Could you tell me..."

He pointed to the sky with his long, slender arm: "What's that?"

Ye Nianzhen looked in the direction he was pointing, narrowed her eyes slightly, and revealed a knowing smile: "Oh, that one, we call her Moon."

"The moon?" the man murmured, grappling with the unfamiliar word.

He shifted his finger slightly and asked, "What about those, the small ones, the ones that twinkle?"

Yeh Nien-jen: "Those are stars."

"Star……"

Lost memories are lost forever. Even if he learns those two words again, the missing parts in his heart will never be filled.

But why does an indescribable sense of joy arise spontaneously?

"do not be afraid."

As if sensing what the man was thinking, Ye Nianzhen bent down and quietly watched him.

"If you forget something, you can remember it again. If you forget something a hundred times, you can remember it a hundred times."

"I will remind you again and again, countless times, no matter how many things you forget, I will remind you."

"I can become your memory, your brain, so would you like to come with me and become my strength?"

"Qin Qiu".

Ye Nianzhen, bathed in moonlight, stretched out a hand towards the man.

"This is your name, I've remembered it for you."

*

The next day, Qin Qiu went out to check and confirmed that the zombie horde would not return. He then brought Ye Nianzhen to the outside of the cave.

Ye Nianzhen looked at the soft bedding with reluctance.

Qin Qiu was understanding: "I can make it for you again after we get out."

Ye Nianzhen looked at the other person with satisfaction, feeling that she had really found the right teammate.

Capable, hardworking, and a good fighter.

How wonderful.

Speaking of which, although Qin Qiu might forget things big and small, he never forgets any of his survival instincts.

This is probably a natural defense mechanism of the body.
