Chapter Fifty-Six Reset

Ye Nianzhen thought she had returned to reality.

In fact, she did have a fleeting sense of reality, just like what she had seen when she was unconscious: there were instruments, glass jars filled with nutrient solution, and the person whose ability was to create illusions.

It was probably because Su Mo and the others wanted to make full use of his abilities that they attached the equipment to him. At this moment, that person, like Ye Nianzhen, was also placed in a glass jar.

The viscous liquid was squeezing Ye Nianzhen's body, making her head feel dizzy and unable to make a sound, let alone move her mind.

She could only fall asleep again, and forget this real memory deep in her mind.

*

When I woke up again, I was greeted by the freezing cold of the snowy landscape.

Ye Nianzhen didn't know how long she had been lying there, but judging from the thickness of the snow on her body and the slight stiffness at the extremities, it shouldn't have been long.

The system's voice came at just the right moment: [Host! You're finally awake! I was so worried!]

Ye Nianzhen asked him in her mind, "Have you been waking me up all this time?"

[Of course! If you don't wake up soon, you'll freeze to death! If I fail to complete my mission, you'll lose your life too!]

Ye Nianzhen thought to himself, "It really is that familiar, flamboyant system..."

"Where is this? What happened to the world we came from?"

System: [Hmm, according to my detection, this is still the original world, host.]

Ye Nianzhen was genuinely surprised: "What?"

She thought that world had been destroyed by her killing Su Mo.

[That's right, this seems to be the northernmost orc continent on the map, inhabited by beasts that evolved after the apocalypse due to awakened abilities. Of course, most of them were originally humans' pets or livestock.]

Because they have the most contact with humans and are influenced by human social systems, animals native to the wild, even after evolving, do not stick together; they generally scatter in the mountains or plains.

“I know that,” Ye Nianzhen said.

"So what about our mission? Is it still the same as before?"

[Yes, host. You can still pursue romanceable characters, and even your affection level has been inherited, but it's in a sealed state and requires specific actions to activate.]

"I see."

Since she was already there, she decided to make the best of it. Although she didn't know the true purpose of the mastermind behind the scenes, Ye Nianzhen would deal with each move as it came and take it one step at a time.

"I need to find a beast tribe first. I don't have the confidence to survive for long in this icy wasteland."

[Yes, host! Keep it up! Your system will always be your strong support!]

Ye Nianzhen was amused.

He's right. Indeed, no matter which cycle of reincarnation it is, whether it's real or an illusion, only the system will always follow and never abandon you.

"Thank you," she said softly.

The system had already entered hibernation mode and I didn't hear it.

Following the general directions indicated by the system, Ye Nianzhen walked for an hour before she was about to freeze unconscious and found a beast tribe.

These evolved animals, which have awakened their abilities, live together regardless of species and can distinguish their prototypes based on certain animal characteristics.

When I went to the northern base earlier, someone mentioned the orc tribe and mistakenly thought that Thunder Wolf was one of them. They were referring to the people here.

Just then, a group of people returned to the tribe from outside. They were chatting and laughing, carrying the spoils of their hunting trip. Ye Nianzhen bumped into their group and fainted in front of them.

The group looked at each other in bewilderment. Finally, their leader stepped forward to check on Ye Nianzhen's condition. After finding that she had fainted from the cold, he picked her up and took her back to the tribe.

If Ye Nianzhen were awake, she would have noticed that the captain—the young beastman carrying her at this moment—looked exactly like Mingyuan.

*

Ye Nianzhen felt warm all over, especially her abdomen, where something heavy was covering her, rising and falling with her breath.

She opened her eyes, looked down, and saw that it was an adorable little rabbit.

The rabbit is white with its eyes closed, black tips on its ears, and a ring of black fur around its eyes, like eyeliner.

Perhaps realizing she was awake, the rabbit stirred and looked up at her.

After a while, it suddenly jumped up and turned into a person next to the bed where Ye Nianzhen was lying!

A boy who looked to be about ten years old, with black hair and red eyes, looked pleasantly surprised: "You're awake? I thought you were going to freeze to death. Thank goodness I kept you warm!"

Ye Nianzhen didn't know if he was telling the truth, but she was still grateful: "Thank you. Where are the adults here?"

Unexpectedly, the boy proudly raised his head: "I am an adult! We rabbits reach adulthood in six months. I was already one year old before I became human, and I have the physique of an adult!"

As he spoke, he excitedly sniffed Ye Nianzhen: "Although I don't know much about you humans, you seem to be an adult and female. How about we get together? I've always wanted some offspring!"

Ye Nianzhen was first startled by his actions, and then, judging from the implication of his words, he wanted to date her? Have a child with her?!

For a moment, she forgot that this was beastmen's territory, where their sense of value was different from that of humans. She only felt offended, and her fists clenched, as if she wanted to punch someone!

Oh no, I mean, beating up rabbits!

Fortunately, the wooden door of the house was easy to open and was pushed open. A person covered in snowflakes came in and saw Ye Nianzhen being harassed by the rabbit boy. He immediately grabbed the rabbit boy by the rabbit ears on his head and carried him away.

"Barbaric! Barbaric! I've already told you not to lift a rabbit by its ears, it will hurt! What if I accidentally die from the pain!"

The rabbit boy immediately struggled and angrily tried to bite the person who came in.

The man remained calm, using his height advantage and long legs and arms to block the rabbit boy's attack from a distance: "This won't do, that won't do. Rabbits are too troublesome, aren't they? If I weren't a vegetarian and you weren't on my menu, I would have stewed you to nourish my body long ago!"

"Ew! Savage!"

The rabbit boy shuddered. Although he was still defiant, he stopped trying to attack and quietly huddled to one side.

The man finished tidying up the rabbit and then turned to Ye Nianzhen: "I'm sorry, you may not know, but rabbits are just like that."

The rabbit-like boy retorted, "What do you mean? What do you mean?"

The man glanced at the rabbit sideways: "Arrogant and haughty, looking down on everyone, and... obsessed with reproduction!"

Ye Nianzhen couldn't help but agree in her heart; at least from what she had seen so far, that was indeed the case.

The man introduced himself: "Hello, my animal form is a sheep. Everyone calls me Sheep White because my fur is white. Oh, by the way, this guy is called Rabbit White. Although we have the same name, it's just a coincidence."

He pointed at the rabbit boy, as if to distance himself from him.
