Chapter Sixty-Six: The Intruder

The handsome young man, who had been gazing serenely at Ye Nianzhen's face, suddenly pulled out a knife from his pocket.

His expression suddenly turned into the kind of wicked look a well-behaved puppy would show behind its owner's back, and then he swung the knife from side to side, the metallic reflection leaving a square mark on Ye Nianzhen's face.

Ye Nianzhen felt a little dizzy in her sleep. Although she was very sleepy, she still tensed up.

When Mu Guang held the knife as if to attack her, Ye Nianzhen instinctively raised one hand and grabbed him.

Ye Nianzhen opened her eyes with a grumpy mood and found that Mu Guang was holding a lock of her hair.

"..." She was speechless. This guy had sneaked in with an expression as if he was about to do something terribly wrong, but he was only trying to take a strand of hair.

"So you were awake! You wretched, cunning human woman!"

Mu Guang bared his teeth and brandished his claws, revealing two small sharp teeth beneath his pale pink lips, and his ears were also visible on the top of his head.

It appears to be an underage beast, whose human form is not yet fully developed.

"Mu Guang, what are you doing here?"

Ye Nianzhen yawned. It felt good to have the young boy under her control. After all, Mu Guang wasn't so easily manipulated before.

"...How do you know my name! Did you really use some kind of sorcery? You call yourself a saintess, but you're just trying to bewitch people!"

They're chattering away, it's so noisy.

Ye Nianzhen yawned again, becoming curious about what this guy's beast form was.

Look, with its tiny white ears and sharp little teeth, it should be a small carnivore, but it's hard to say exactly what it is.

But this noisy feeling felt somewhat familiar...

The next moment, Ye Nianzhen knew where this sense of déjà vu came from, because Mu Guang slipped out of his hand. The slippery touch, the agile and nimble body, and the snow-white streamlined body were all from the little white weasel!

Yes, Ye Nianzhen had seen these creatures in cute pet videos before. Don't let their small size fool you, they are actually very active, almost to the point of ADHD, and they are also very noisy, always chattering and needing their owners' company.

Mu Guang is actually a weasel-type beastman, isn't that kind of cute?

Although Mu Guang escaped from Ye Nianzhen's grasp for a time, Ye Nianzhen was actually not flustered at all.

Qin Qiu, who was outside the door, quickly grabbed the little white weasel. Out of curiosity, he even transformed into a white tiger and pinned the weasel down with one paw.

The scene was terrifying, not to mention for Mu Guang himself. Even Ye Nianzhen was on tenterhooks watching it, given the disparity in size... and the absolute dominance of the top predator in the food chain...

"That's a beastman, be careful, Qin Qiu."

Ye Nianzhen kindly reminded him not to slap him to death.

Qin Qiu then transformed back into human form and picked up the little weasel by the tail.

"Don't worry, the beastmen are all very strong and won't get injured at this level."

Qin Qiu said something that sounded very reasonable, and Ye Nianzhen also thought it made sense.

Only the weasel Mu Guang was speechless. Nothing would happen to him, but he felt terrible inside. Did no one care about his feelings?

"So, what's up with this guy?"

The situation has somehow developed to this point, with a group of people surrounding the little white weasel in the center, just like last night when everyone was gathered around the campfire, except now they are interrogating it.

"What is he doing with Ye Nianzhen's hair?"

Luo Shui asked the key question.

"I don't know. When I woke up, he didn't have his hand yet, but Qin Qiu grabbed it."

Ye Nianzhen offered an explanation.

"That's right."

Qin Qiu answered, his bangs slightly covering his eyes, so you couldn't tell that he was actually very proud of protecting Ye Nianzhen.

Mingyuan could clearly see Qin Qiu's subtle boasting, and he scoffed at it, then shifted everyone's focus back to Mu Guang: "We have to make him tell the truth."

If Ye Nianzhen's identity as the Holy Maiden is true, anything that could potentially threaten her needs to be eliminated.

This was Mingyuan's true thought, but out of concern that Ye Nianzhen might think he was too ruthless, he wouldn't say it outright.

Under pressure, and not wanting to be beaten, Mu Guang transformed back into human form. He then complained, "Holy Maiden? Don't you have any doubts? Why would the beast race need a human Holy Maiden? Huh? Explain yourself!"

Nobody paid him any attention.

Or perhaps Ye Nianzhen herself thought the same thing, but she was forced into it. Since she was already considered a saint, her one-sided statement couldn't really change anything.

Moreover, given the current situation, she couldn't possibly agree with Mu Guang; wouldn't that be siding with outsiders?

"Say something?"

Seeing that no one paid attention to him, Mu Guang repeated himself.

"Stop talking nonsense and just answer our questions!" Mingyuan warned.

Mu Guang rolled his eyes. He had nothing to say to this group of ignorant, stupid beastmen who were actually fooled by a mere human woman.

Seeing that he had quieted down, Mingyuan asked, "So what did you do with Ye Nianzhen's hair? Tell the truth!"

"What can you do? I have my own way of judging the Holy Maiden, what business is it of yours?"

Mu Guang was perfectly justified.

"Tell me, what's the method? If you're making it up, you'll be sorry."

Luo Shui also joined the interrogation.

"Hmph, you'll have to provide me with a lock of hair first, and then we can talk about the rest."

Mu Guang had no intention of backing down.

Actually, he didn't have any special method. He took the hair so that other beast tribes outside could recognize the saintess's scent.

Whether the other party is a saintess or not is none of his business. He just wants to make money this way. As for whether the beastmen will start wars to compete for the saintess after they know her scent, that's none of his concern.

He was a wandering beastman, and had never lived under the patronage of any tribe.

"No way." Qin Qiu was the first to object: "Why should I give you her hair? Hair is also a precious part of the body."

For orcs, a neat and shiny coat is an important way to demonstrate their strength and superiority.

Ye Nianzhen wasn't really keen on giving Mu Guang her hair, mainly because she knew this guy well; it wasn't something as simple as using the hair to conduct an experiment to determine the identity of the Holy Maiden.

"Then there's nothing I can do. Even if you beat me to death, I won't reveal any other information."

Mu Guang lay on the ground, looking like a dead pig that wasn't afraid of being scalded by boiling water.

After leaving the room, everyone briefly discussed the matter.

Luo Shui decided to make some sacrifices. He cut off a small strand of his longer hair from the back of his head and gave it to Ye Nianzhen: "Here you go. My hair color is most similar to yours. Take this and rub it on yourself to leave your scent."
