A piercing, grief-stricken sound wave pierced everyone's eardrums, knocking half the group unconscious.
The earth began to tremble, and heavy footsteps approached rapidly. The team members who were still conscious quickly set up their weapons and looked toward the source of the tremors.
A female lizard, twice the size of the previous one, appeared before the group.
"It's its mate!"
"Damn it, how come the survey team didn't find this!"
"What do we do! This monster might be level four, and only the red team can handle it!"
The team members panicked, and Ye Nianzhen realized that this was not an opponent they could easily defeat.
"The rest of you step back, leave this to us!"
Ye Nianzhen gave the order without room for doubt. The people looked at each other in confusion, but still obeyed and left.
The battlefield suddenly became empty.
Ye Nianzhen opened her sketchbook and, for the first time, clearly demonstrated her abilities to the two of them.
She conjured a crossbow and a quiver from the painting, skillfully drew the string, and loaded the arrows.
The black mist transformed into a large black dog, guarding her side.
"Wow! Is Captain Ye a summoner?"
Luo Shui whistled exaggeratedly, showing no sense of urgency that a formidable enemy was at hand.
Ye Nianzhen glanced at him and explained, "This is a painting spirit."
She said no more, and turned back to Mingyuan, saying, "Be careful."
He then aimed at the monster's eyes and fiercely fired the first arrow of the battle.
The monster, its eyes blinded, let out another angry howl.
Ye Nianzhen was startled by the sound wave and almost knelt down.
She gritted her teeth and suppressed her dizziness, quickly sketching something on the paper.
Soon, she threw out the finished drawing and distributed it to the two of them.
It's a pair of noise-isolating headphones.
While it cannot completely block sonic attacks, it is better than nothing.
Once the three were equipped, they charged forward again, this time with the black dog leading the charge.
The ferocious black-furred beast tore at the exposed skin on the monster's neck, refusing to let go even as it was shaken violently.
Ye Nianzhen then took the opportunity to shoot out the monster's second eye.
Enraged, the monster swung its tail and attacked Ye Nianzhen, who was lagging behind.
Ye Nianzhen had no time to dodge. She wanted to raise her arm to take the hit head-on, but she was shocked when she saw the true form of the tail.
That's not a tail, it's another head of a monster!
This head has a set of sharp teeth that gleam with an eerie luster; it must be poisonous.
Even those with superhuman abilities could die from poisoning if bitten.
At the critical moment, something was thrown from the Luo River and caught by Mingyuan, who was nearby.
Mingyuan reacted quickly, catching the object and then using all his strength to chop at the monster's tail.
The poisoned fangs were only an inch away from piercing Ye Nianzhen's skin when they were cut in half by a heavy sword made of solidified ice.
The bizarre head fell to the ground, its venomous vertical pupils glaring resentfully at Mingyuan.
Without pausing, Mingyuan raised his heavy sword and, as the monster struggled in pain, seized the opportunity to insert the tip of the sword into its armpit.
That's the location of the monster's heart.
The black dog tore off a chunk of flesh from the neck, and foul-smelling, hot blood fell like rain.
Luo Shui opened a curtain of water to block the corrosive blood, and incidentally, a water blade sliced open the monster's abdomen.
At this point, the level four monster collapsed with a thud.
*
After the battle, the three rested for a while.
Mingyuan was slightly burned where the blood had splashed on him. Luoshui used her supernatural powers to clean it for him, and then Ye Nianzhen took out medicine from her backpack and carefully applied it.
"Captain Ye, your painting spirit is so cool!"
It's unclear whether it was the way the team members called the Red Team that inspired him, but Luo Shui called Ye Nianzhen that way again.
The ruthless favorability reporting machine went online and informed Ye Nianzhen that Luo Shui's favorability rating had risen to thirty percent.
Ye Nianzhen: "Step down."
"Alright." The system wisely logged off.
Ye Nianzhen tacitly accepted the title "Luoshui," but she cared more about other things than this matter.
She plunged a dagger into the head of the tail, confirming her suspicions.
A deep purple magic crystal, shimmering with iridescent light, was selected.
The other head also had a magic crystal, so Ye Nianzhen obtained two level-four magic crystals.
She casually wiped one of the seeds on her clothes and tossed it to Mingyuan: "You know what I mean."
Although Mingyuan was still somewhat resistant, he couldn't refuse the hospitality, so he closed his eyes and swallowed the magic crystal.
The power contained in a level four magic crystal should not be underestimated. Mingyuan immediately felt the fatigue accumulated from the battle disappear.
His wounds had all healed, but the excess energy was surging through his body, causing him to develop a low-grade fever.
Ye Nianzhen picked up the second magic crystal and gestured to Luo Shui: "Want some?"
Luo Shui didn't seem to care: "It's not tasty, I won't eat it."
Ye Nianzhen wanted to persuade her again, but then she remembered Luo Shui's outrageous superpower level.
Level 4 magic crystals really didn't help him much.
So she summoned the painting spirit again, and the large dog that the black mist transformed into rubbed affectionately against her leg.
Ye Nianzhen smiled and handed over the magic crystal in her hand.
The big dog gently licked away the magic crystal, then rested its head on Ye Nianzhen's waist, lingering there for a while.
It then turned back into black mist and returned to the sketchbook.
Luo Shui tilted her head and watched, nudging Ming Yuan on the ground with her elbow.
"Isn't this treatment too unfair?"
Mingyuan was in a daze and didn't understand the meaning of Luoshui.
He squinted slightly at his eyelids, which were swollen from a low-grade fever.
He seemed to see... Ye Nianzhen's expression when facing the black dog was very gentle.
