Chapter Seven Knights

The tall man tried to help Ye Nianzhen, whose life was uncertain, but was stopped by a figure who rushed over.

Mingyuan, looking disheveled and panting, stood in front of Ye Nianzhen.

The red team narrowed their eyes slightly.

Hmph... Has the loyal knight of the goddess appeared?

With the crystal restored, the flock of hummingbirds no longer lingered and fled towards the outside of the base.

With their backs to the flock of hummingbirds, the red team waved their hands, and flames engulfed the entire flock, burning them to ashes.

This man, who was able to single-handedly storm Ye Nianzhen's base in a past reincarnation, is undoubtedly a powerful superhuman.

Mingyuan did not move an inch.

But cold sweat trickled down his cheeks, and he looked on with a serious expression.

Seeing this, the red team gave a dismissive snort.

He instructed the soldiers behind him, "These two men have rendered meritorious service. Take them away to receive treatment and treat them well with good food and drink."

His expression hardened again: "As for the instigators, find them for me, and I will burn them alive."

Mingyuan seemed to have thought of something, and pursed his lips slightly, but did not say anything more.

Several soldiers stepped forward, but Mingyuan gestured that they didn't need to, and picked up the unconscious Ye Nianzhen himself.

The body was predictably light, with bones showing through the skin and flesh, and it was even a little rough to the touch.

Mingyuan gentlemanly embraced Ye Nianzhen, not touching any parts he shouldn't have, and easily carried her back to the base.

After settling Ye Nianzhen onto the hospital bed, Mingyuan looked down at her burned skin, his eyes lowered, lost in thought.

The doctor gave Ye Nianzhen basic wound care.

"Superhumans have amazing regenerative abilities. Such wounds would be difficult for ordinary people to heal and would leave scars."

"But the person with superpowers will recover in about three days. As long as they don't do anything reckless during that time, they won't have any scars. Don't worry."

Mingyuan nodded in thanks: "Thank you."

The doctor waved his hand, looked at Mingyuan's wounds, and suggested, "She's alright for now, let me treat yours too?"

Mingyuan nodded.

The doctor lifted his shirt and gasped.

This pale, thin man had been pierced through both his chest and back by a sharp weapon.

Because the weapon was still inside her body, there was actually not much bleeding.

But how did he manage to carry a woman who was only half a head shorter than him all the way to the infirmary in such a situation without saying a word?

Are all people with superpowers really monsters?

The doctor sighed and removed all the stone fragments, large and small, one by one.

After the stone fragment left the body, it turned into a lump of yellow earth and scattered.

Blood began to gush from the wound, and the doctor quickly stopped the bleeding and applied ointment.

These medicines are precious resources, and he really wouldn't have been willing to use them like this if the Red Team hadn't given him orders.

After bandaging Mingyuan, he told him to rest well before going to take care of the other wounded.

Mingyuan was completely exhausted and collapsed onto the hospital bed next to Ye Nianzhen.

Even so, he maintained the posture of facing Ye Nianzhen with his back to the outside.

It's like holding Ye Nianzhen in a safe corner.

Like a down-on-his-luck knight who steadfastly stays by the princess's side.

*

Ye Nianzhen had a long-awaited good night's sleep.

The sun shone through the gaps in the tent, casting its light on her clean face.

Feeling the wind, she slowly woke up, but the moment she was fully awake, she leaped out of bed.

"How long have I been asleep?!"

She yelled, startling Mingyuan, who was processing fruit nearby.

“You only slept for one night.” He quickly put down the knife and pressed his palm down reassuringly.

"Don't get excited, lie down for a while and wake up."

Ye Nianzhen was still a little dazed, so she obediently went back to bed.

Mingyuan then used a sharpened wooden stick to feed her fruit.

Ye Nianzhen ate a few pieces of sweet and delicious fruit before realizing, "Where did all this good stuff come from?"

Clean beds, spacious tents, and fresh fruit.

In the apocalypse, this was practically a privilege reserved for the nobility.

"It was the Red Team that gave the order; they said we had done a great service."

He also said that they were potential superhumans and that he intended to recruit them.

But seeing Ye Nianzhen's disgusted expression, Mingyuan tactfully didn't mention it.

Despite her complaints, Ye Nianzhen still ate the fruit and slept in the bed as usual.

These mutated berries from the apocalypse have hardened skins, making them more durable for storage.

Once you peel off the outer shell, the flesh inside is non-toxic and has a sweet and sour taste, but it generally grows in the heart of the jungle and is difficult to harvest.

Ye Nianzhen had a hard time getting this in previous reincarnations, so of course she should cherish it.

Ye Nianzhen rolled around on the bed, which wasn't exactly soft but was hundreds of times better than straw, for a while before finally getting up.

She stepped out of the tent and stretched.

The caregiver threw away her tattered clothes and replaced her with a snow-white dress.

In the sunlight, it shines like a radiant sprite.

Mingyuan followed her out and saw her looking up devoutly as she basked in the sunlight.

The wound on her face had scabbed over, and although it had some impact, it was still easy to see that she had a delicate and beautiful face.

Ye Nianzhen's skin was fair from being deprived of sunlight for a long time, which matched the reclusive image he had heard about, who often stayed in a tent and rarely saw anyone.

But after actually meeting her, I felt that she was completely different from the rumors.

Perhaps rumors are simply unreliable.

Ye Nianzhen returned to her small, simple tent, where Xiaochun happily came out to greet her.

"Sister Ye, are you alright? I was so worried about you... Huh?"

Xiaochun tilted her head in confusion halfway through her sentence.

The woman in front of me felt familiar, but her appearance and clothing were somewhat unfamiliar.
