Chapter 112 Recovery

"It's Mingyuan! How come I didn't realize it before?"

Luo Shui was a little annoyed.

Ye Nianzhen comforted him, saying, "There's nothing we can do. The memory rewriting in the illusion is just that powerful. It fundamentally alters your memories. Before you realize this, in your mind, Mingyuan is that hateful old general of the Seventh Legion, not the partner who once adventured with you in the apocalypse."

"Okay." Luo Shui perked up. This phenomenon of multiple memories mixed together causing sluggish reactions was not pleasant, and it seemed that he would need some time to adapt.

He then immediately realized a more pressing problem: "If that's the case, then why are we even fighting?! Don't my spaceships and crew cost money? If we fight like this, my losses will be devastating!"

He rushed outside to stop Mingyuan, but before he had gone far, he turned back and grabbed Ye Nianzhen's hand: "Come with me, I can't get that guy to regain his memories without you!"

But Yeh Nien-chen stopped him again, saying, "Don't rush."

Luo Shui was puzzled: "It's very urgent, extremely urgent!"

Ye Nianzhen gave him a flick on the forehead out of helplessness. This familiar action made Luo Shui pause, and his anxious and agitated mind calmed down a bit.

Ye Nianzhen explained, "Even if we go out now, how are we going to run into Mingyuan? Besides, my ability requires certain conditions to activate. Without the prerequisites, how can I awaken Mingyuan's memories? Furthermore, in his eyes, you are now a heinous space pirate who kidnapped their alliance's precious healer! Forget about seeing you, he might just blast you into space junk with a cannon!"

Luo Shui: "...No need to say that. If I were to develop for a few more years, I could easily tear apart several of his spaceships!"

Ye Nianzhen neither confirmed nor denied it, only saying, "Let me come up with a plan."

Although Luo Shui was unwilling to admit defeat, he knew in his heart that the current situation was not in his favor. He had no choice but to suppress his impatience and sit down with Ye Nianzhen to discuss countermeasures.

Ye Nianzhen pondered for a moment, then said, "We need an opportunity, an opportunity that allows Mingyuan to come into close contact with us and to allow him to be influenced by my abilities without being on guard."

Luo Shui scratched his head: "Where are we supposed to find one? We can't just rush out and surrender, can we?"

Ye Nianzhen rolled her eyes at him: "Surrender? What are you thinking? However, it's not entirely hopeless. I remember Mingyuan has a habit of having his adjutant prepare a detailed battlefield report before each battle. This report includes all the enemy's information and possible tactical deployments. We might be able to use this."

Luo Shui's eyes lit up: "You mean, we forge a report and then find a way to get Mingyuan to see it?"

Ye Nianzhen nodded: "That's right, but this report must be truthful enough to attract Mingyuan's attention. Moreover, we need to leave some hints in the report to make Mingyuan subconsciously curious about us, so that he might come to see us in person."

Luo Shui rubbed her hands together excitedly: "Great idea! I'll go prepare right away."

Without further ado, Luo Shui immediately began fabricating a battlefield report. Ye Nianzhen assisted him, providing details about Mingyuan's personality and habits to ensure the report's authenticity and appeal.

After several hours of hard work, a rather professional-looking battlefield report was finally completed. Luo Shui looked at the report and nodded in satisfaction: "Now, let's see if Mingyuan will take the bait."

After agreeing on their plan, the two began to put it into action. They secretly passed the forged battlefield report to Mingyuan's adjutant through various means. Then, they waited for Mingyuan's reaction.

Time ticked by, and both Luo Shui and Ye Nianzhen seemed a little nervous.

Luo Shui and Ye Nianzhen exchanged a glance, both seeing the anticipation and tension in each other's eyes. They knew that their next move would determine their fate, and whether Mingyuan could regain his memories and become their partner again.

A crucial element of their plan was the flower used for psychological suggestion to restore Mingyuan's memory: a gardenia, representing eternal love and a protective heart.

At the very end of the report, Ye Nianzhen used her superb painting skills to recreate the mutated gardenia used in the hotel during the apocalypse. The flower was so lifelike that it was an important tool that could serve as a trigger to restore Mingyuan's memories!

Just like the handmade sunflowers she used on Luoshui before, this hand-painted gardenia will probably serve the same purpose.

If the plan succeeds, Mingyuan will likely contact them soon, and the battle that has caused Luoshui such heavy losses will be able to end.

*

On the other side, Mingyuan, who had received the report from his adjutant, began to ponder the enemy's intentions.

He knew he hadn't planted an undercover agent in this fledgling pirate group. He had been in poor health for many years, and frankly, a pirate group of this size wasn't worth his precious energy to deal with.

So their purpose might be a diversionary tactic; the report probably doesn't contain any useful information, but rather aims to distract him and divert his attention.

The battle outside had temporarily come to an end, and it just so happened that both sides needed a short period of rest and recuperation. As a result, Mingyuan also got a moment's rest and quickly browsed through the report.

As he expected, the report contained no useful information. The only certainty was that the other side had somehow obtained some intelligence about their allied forces, but this level of intelligence posed no threat to them.
