Chapter 35 "Will you hurt me?" Gu Zeming was actually a...
"no."
"Oh wow, so you do have a girlfriend, but it's not that girl, right?"
Gu Zeming smiled but remained silent.
Others simply assumed he was admitting it and became even more curious about who his girlfriend was.
After that, Gu Zeming lost two or three more times, and those people then specifically targeted his emotional topics.
Jiang Chuyu was on tenterhooks; the meal was thrilling and exciting.
"Is your current girlfriend someone from our school?" A new round of questions was posed.
"Yes and no."
"ah?"
The others looked at each other in bewilderment.
The boy asked in confusion, "Could you explain it more clearly? I'm not smart enough."
Gu Zeming glanced at him and said in a nonchalant tone, "She's from our school, but she's no longer mine."
"Wow, they broke up?"
The whole table erupted in uproar.
Some people boldly speculated: "It's obvious that you had too high standards and dumped that girl."
Gu Zeming was silent for a moment, his eyes flickering, then he chuckled self-deprecatingly. "Is it possible that I'm the one who got dumped?"
This statement was like a bomb, instantly causing a huge uproar.
"Holy crap! Who's so awesome? Daring to dodge our president?"
Stop cursing, stop cursing.
Jiang Chuyu's ears were so red they were almost bleeding.
She lowered her head, pretending to focus on cutting the now-cold steak, feeling incredibly guilty.
The game continued, and whenever someone tried to pry for more details about his "ex-girlfriend," Gu Zeming would punish himself with three drinks and then stop responding.
Jiang Chuyu finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Although Gu Zeming liked to scare her, he always kept his promises to her. Whether it was breaking up or never revealing her identity, he always kept his word.
Gradually, Gu Zeming's eyes reddened slightly, and his gaze towards her became more direct and sharp.
Jiang Chuyu silently prayed that they would finish eating quickly and leave. Finally, the group of them got tired and called the waiter to pay the bill.
Liang Shu turned to Caiyan and chatted for a few minutes, then asked with a smile, "How about we have Zeming pay for you too?"
A half-joking remark caused a change in the expressions of everyone present.
Jiang Chuyu stole a glance at Gu Zeming.
He didn't look at her. After finishing the bill with the waiter, his tone was clearly intoxicated. "Okay."
Liang Shu laughed a few times, pointing to his head, "Don't let my brother's usual respectable appearance fool you. He's always praised as a genius, but when he's drunk, this..." He pointed to his forehead, "...it's like he's been possessed. He's incredibly easy to talk to. If you rip him off now, he won't complain at all."
Li Sen paused with his chopsticks and said with a faint smile, "No need, it's my treat today."
"Oh, I see." Liang Shu shrugged, looking regretful. "Then you guys enjoy your meal, we'll be going now, bye-bye."
As soon as he moved, the others also got up to say goodbye, with Gu Zeming walking last.
He paused slightly as he passed by Jiang Chuyu.
A French sentence drifted into her ears, the voice low and hoarse, only she could hear it clearly.
"Tu ne m'échapperas pas."
You can't escape it.
Jiang Chuyu shuddered, almost choking on her rice.
Gu Zeming lifted his foot and left the restaurant as if nothing had happened.
"What's wrong? You look terrible." Li Sen handed her a pack of tissues.
"It's nothing, the food was just too delicious, I'm a little full." Jiang Chu smiled awkwardly and took a tissue to wipe her mouth.
After this meal, the two were considered to have made their relationship public, and everything fell into place naturally.
Li Sen has good manners and virtues, and he would definitely be a good boyfriend and a good husband, without a doubt. But Jiang Chuyu always felt that something was missing when she stood next to him.
She herself couldn't explain it clearly.
On the way back, the roommates were excitedly gossiping about Gu Zeming.
"I'm impressed! Which heroine dumped our school's heartthrob, Gu? I really want to invite her to give a lecture; I'm willing to pay for it!"
Caiyan wished she could find the person immediately and pay homage to them.
Lin Yun raised her hand and said, "I'm willing too."
Jiang Chuyu stuck out her tongue, turned her head to look out the window, and dared not speak.
Normally, Caiyan would have already held the microphone to Jiang Chuyu's lips and asked her gloatingly: "Your senior Gu is no longer pure. What are your thoughts now?"
But with Li Sen present today, even if Caiyan is completely oblivious, she wouldn't dare to stir up trouble.
When they arrived at the apartment building, Li Sen helped her unbuckle her seatbelt. "Are you sure you don't need me to take you upstairs?"
"No need, you take them back to school. See you next week."
Jiang Chuyu waved goodbye out the car window.
It was getting late.
She took the elevator directly to her floor.
He took the key out of his bag and inserted it into the lock.
The sound of the doorknob turning was particularly clear in the quiet corridor.
Pushing open the door, the room was pitch black.
Strange, is nobody home?
Jiang Chuyu muttered to herself as she reached for the light switch behind the door and pressed it.
The moment the lights came on, she screamed and took a step back.
"Who's there?!"
Gu Zeming sat motionless on the living room sofa, the top two buttons of his collar undone, his whole being enveloped in a hangover-like languor.
Hearing her scream, he slowly looked up, his eyes glistening with a slightly tipsy light, appearing as a deep, dark color under the lamplight.
He didn't say anything, just quietly watched her.
"Why didn't you turn on the lights?" Jiang Chuyu patted her chest, glared at him with a hint of unease, and slung her bag over her shoulder as she walked through the living room.
Gu Zeming followed her gaze as she entered the bedroom.
Just then, the doorbell rang.
He twitched his eyelids and got up to open the door.
Shi Qing stood outside the door, holding Jiang Chuyu's pearl earrings in her hand.
"You left something in the car..." Her words trailed off, her eyes widening suddenly. "Senior Gu!"
Hearing the noise, Jiang Chuyu rushed out of the bedroom.
When she saw Gu Zeming take her pearl earring from Shi Qing's hand with a blank expression, she was completely at a loss.
“You guys…” Shi Qing was shocked.
Gu Zeming remained silent throughout, only handing the earrings to Jiang Chuyu before retreating to the living room, sinking into the sofa, and closing his eyes to rest.
Fearing Shi Qing might misunderstand, Jiang Chuyu didn't care about anything else and hurriedly pulled her to a corner of the corridor, saying, "He's my brother's tutor, and he sometimes stays here on weekends!"
"He really..." Shi Qing looked her over suspiciously, "...just your brother's tutor?"
"Yes," Jiang Chuyu said, trying to appear calm. "You have to believe me!"
Shi Qing: "Then why didn't you ever mention this to us before?"
Jiang Chuyu: "You guys didn't ask either. Besides, this is Gu Zeming's privacy, so I can't just go around making it up, right?"
That makes a lot of sense.
Shi Qing glanced at the doorway with some skepticism, then suddenly asked, "Does Li Sen know?"
Jiang Chuyu nodded.
"Oh, that's good."
Shi Qing was quieter than her two roommates, and had the strongest sense of morality in their dorm. I couldn't help but remind her, "You're Li Sen's girlfriend now. As long as he doesn't mind, it's fine, but Chu Yu..."
Shi Qing's gaze lingered on her face for a few seconds before she said seriously, "Your face is blushing abnormally."
Jiang Chuyu: "..."
After finally seeing off Shi Qing, who was full of questions, Jiang Chuyu closed the door, took a deep breath, and turned to the living room.
Gu Zeming remained in the same position, breathing evenly, as if he were asleep.
She tiptoed over and noticed that his brows were slightly furrowed, and his long eyelashes cast a shadow in the light.
Upon closer inspection, his face did indeed have a flush from drinking, and his thin lips appeared exceptionally soft due to the alcohol's moisture.
Just as she was lost in thought, Gu Zeming slowly opened his eyes and stared intently at her.
Jiang Chuyu froze, then subconsciously called out, "Senior?"
Gu Zeming tilted his head slightly, gazing at her with hazy eyes. He looked quite drunk, as quiet as a large Norwegian Forest Cat.
Noble, elegant, with deep eyes, she possesses an aloof air reminiscent of Norse mythology, like someone wearing a velvet gown, mysterious and distant.
Jiang Chuyu squatted down beside the sofa and teased him mischievously, "Do you know who you are?"
Gu Zeming looked puzzled.
Jiang Chuyu affirmed, "You are actually a cat."
Gu Zeming looked at her quietly, as if he had been persuaded, and did not refute her.
Jiang Chuyu grinned mischievously: "Do you know who I am?"
He shook his head gently.
Jiang Chuyu: "I am your master."
Gu Zeming looked down at her, frowning, seemingly displeased.
Jiang Chuyu scoffed, "Cats are indeed harder to tame than dogs. Can you meow? Let me hear your meow."
Gu Zeming pursed his lips and shook his head.
"Then I'll teach you." Jiang Chuyu excitedly ran back to the bedroom, grabbed a cat-ear headband, and put it on his head without giving him a chance to refuse. She secretly took a few pictures with her phone and instructed him, "How about a meow?"
Gu Zeming didn't move.
"You're so clumsy," she said with a laugh, demonstrating the action for him. "Like this, make a fist, put it next to your face, and then, meow~"
Gu Zeming still didn't move.
"Never mind," Jiang Chuyu said dejectedly. "I'll go to the kitchen and pour you a glass of honey water. Drink it, then go to the guest room to sleep."
Jiang Chuyu turned to leave, but heard a hoarse "meow" from behind, and then her wrist was grabbed.
His palms were hot, and his fingertips had thin calluses. The friction against her skin sent a shiver down her spine.
"What are you doing?" Jiang Chuyu asked nervously, her hair standing on end.
Gu Zeming stood up, wrapped his arms around her waist, and gently rubbed his chin against her shoulder, his voice as soft as a sigh, "Master, I feel so bad. Please, have some comfort."
Jiang Chuyu's head throbbed, and her legs went weak, making it impossible for her to walk.
He smelled faintly of alcohol and mint, which made her dizzy. She held her breath and dared not move.
Gu Zeming's chest pressed against her back, his heat penetrating through her thin clothing. He turned his head slightly, his lips almost touching her earlobe.
"Baby," he called softly, his voice filled with a tenderness and longing she had never heard before, "Can you be a little gentler with me?"
“You’re drunk…” she said softly, her voice almost inaudible.
Gu Zeming seemed not to hear her, instead tightening his arms around her. "Is that so?" His lips brushed against her earlobe. "It's better if you're drunk. Don't you love seeing me so distressed and distraught?"
Jiang Chuyu's heartbeat almost stopped.
Reason and emotion battled fiercely in her mind. Finally, she broke free from his embrace and turned to face him.
"You're really drunk." She placed her hands on his shoulders. "Let's talk when you're sober, okay?"
Gu Zeming blinked, seemingly trying to see her face clearly. Then, he let Jiang Chuyu help him to sit down on the sofa.
Jiang Chuyu let go of him, quickly walked into the kitchen, poured a glass of honey water, and soaked a towel.
When she returned to the living room, Gu Zeming was already half-lying on the sofa, his shirt collar wide open, revealing his collarbone and a small part of his chest. His usual ascetic image was completely gone.
Jiang Chuyu took a deep breath and went over to wipe his face. Gu Zeming obediently closed his eyes, letting her do as she pleased. When the cold towel touched his forehead, he hissed.
"Bear with it," Jiang Chuyu said softly, her fingers gently stroking his burning skin.
After wiping her face, she held the water glass to his lips. "Have some water."
Gu Zeming took a few sips from her hand, water droplets sliding down the corners of his mouth.
Jiang Chuyu subconsciously used her thumb to wipe it away for him, but when she touched his lips, he took her finger into his mouth.
His lips were soft and moist, like a cat's, as he extended his scarlet tongue to lick between her fingers.
Jiang Chu felt a chill run down her spine. She raised her other hand and slapped that handsome face.
With a "snap," the world came to a standstill.
