Chapter 16: Watching Her Laugh

Chapter 16: Watching Her Laugh

Gu Boyan wrote down a string of numbers on the math test paper with a stroke of his pen - 118 points.

Then he handed the test paper to Wen Ning, "You have a good foundation."

Wen Ning took the test paper in surprise. Before he could say anything, Zhou Yaya beside him spoke impatiently, "118 points, Teacher Gu, you didn't just say that score casually, did you?"

Gu Boyan ignored her and continued grading the test papers.

Instead, Shen Xufeng came over and stopped Zhou Yaya from saying anything more.

At this moment, Gu Boyan wrote down 85 points on the foreign language test paper. He then handed the paper to Wen Ning and said bluntly, "Your foreign language is very poor."

Wen Ning: “…” He grew up in the mountains and had very few days of formal schooling. Later, he was finally rescued and put into an orphanage, and he only went to school in the next village.

The teaching level in village schools is low, so how can one learn foreign languages?

Later, in my senior year of high school, I memorized English words every day, and my grades did improve a little.

But I have to say that the foundation is still very poor.

Soon, Gu Boyan finished grading all the test papers. "Chinese 125, Mathematics 118, Foreign Language 85, Liberal Arts 220, total score 549."

Wen Ning was not surprised by the score.

After all, she has done many sets of test papers in the past few days and has an overview of her current scores.

The score reported by Gu Boyan was not much different from what she expected.

But what concerned her more was that the man just stared at the test paper and didn't look at the reference answers!

Moreover, the man had just picked up the test papers from her desk, so there was no possibility that he knew the answers in advance.

That means that the man simply used mental arithmetic to calculate the correct answers for all subjects.

Wen Ning looked at the man, and his heartbeat suddenly sped up by two seconds!

Zhou Yaya and Shen Xufeng were even more shocked!

Wen Ning was treated as a mental patient in a sanatorium for three years, but her grades are even better than they were three years ago.

"No, this is impossible!" Zhou Yaya didn't believe it.

Gu Boyan turned his head, his eyes slightly smiling, "Miss Zhou, are you saying that it's impossible for me to grade the test papers by mental arithmetic, or that it's impossible for your sister to get this score?"

Of course none of this is possible!

Just as Zhou Yaya was about to speak, footsteps were heard outside.

Soon, Lin Wanyi's gentle voice came, "Have Ningning's test scores come out?"

A few minutes ago, Zhou Yaya deliberately notified the Zhou family to come over. She said that she cared about her sister's grades, but what she actually wanted was for everyone to laugh at her.

But unexpectedly, Wen Ning's score was much higher than she expected!

For a moment, Zhou Yaya's face looked extremely ugly!

Lin Wanyi didn't wait for an answer, thinking that Wen Ning didn't do well in the exam. Yaya and Xufeng took her feelings into consideration and didn't want to say more, so they also spoke considerately.

"It doesn't matter if you don't do well in the exam. After all, you haven't been to school for three years. Hey, you're so disobedient. When your mother said she would collect rent for your shop, you refused and insisted on taking the college entrance exam again. You have to go to a junior college..."

"She scored 549 points." Gu Boyan interrupted her directly.

Lin Wanyi had already noticed the man, "Who are you?"

Shen Xufeng quickly replied, "Wen Ning's teacher."

A hint of doubt flashed in Lin Wanyi's eyes. This guy is so handsome, can he be taught well?

But then she thought again, she didn't expect Wen Ning to learn anything special, so it didn't matter what teacher taught her.

Therefore, Lin Wanyi smiled gently and said very considerately, "Hello, teacher. Wen Ning has some mental problems. Please do your best to teach him. We will understand if you can't teach well. Don't feel too pressured."

Wen Ning lowered his eyelashes and raised the corners of his lips in a mocking arc.

Gu Boyan's brows furrowed slightly. "After three years of absence, he still managed to score 549. I personally think this score is quite impressive. Don't you think so, Madam?"

She remembered that Zhou Yaya only scored 349 points in the college entrance examination. Wen Ning had taken a three-year leave of absence, so how could he score 200 points higher than Zhou Yaya?

Lin Wanyi was surprised, but her immediate reaction was, "Did she plagiarize again?"

A simple question directly negated all of Wen Ning's efforts.

Even though he had already given up hope, Wen Ning felt a surge of anger in his heart at this moment. He looked up at her and said, "What do you mean by 'again'? I have never plagiarized."

Lin Wanyi still felt a little aggrieved. "Yaya said before that your good grades were all cheated, and you haven't been to school for three years. How could you still get so many points?"

Wen Ning's eyes turned completely cold as he stared at Zhou Yaya, "What did you say?"

"That's what my classmates said." Zhou Yaya pretended to be ignorant and coughed twice while covering her mouth.

Zhou Qingyan immediately stepped forward and said, "You plagiarized and you don't allow anyone to say it! You just think Yaya is easy to talk to and force her to give you a false testimony."

Wen Ning suddenly smiled, his eyes filled with mockery, and said, "I might as well give her a false testimony."

During a mock exam in her senior year of high school, Zhou Yaya copied her younger sister but was accidentally caught by the invigilator.

Wen Ning was sitting next to her at the time, and Zhou Yaya had been threatening her to give false testimony by using the Zhou family's reputation. At that time, she agreed out of consideration for her family.

This was also a handle that Zhou Yaya fell into her hands.

As expected, upon hearing Wen Ning say this, Zhou Yaya hurriedly said, "Well, well, there might be some misunderstanding, just rumors among classmates. I didn't plagiarize."

Wen Ning curled the corners of her lips; she had made the right bet.

Given the Zhou family's blind favoritism towards Zhou Yaya, even if she told the truth, no one would believe it. They might even turn the tables and accuse her of deliberately slandering Zhou Yaya.

On the contrary, just throwing out a branch would let Zhou Yaya know that she had something on him, and she would naturally be cautious because she would feel guilty.

As expected, Zhou Yaya was scared.

However, Zhou Qingyan and Zhou Qingci did not believe it.

"Yaya, don't speak up for her. For someone like her who has been a habitual liar and thief since childhood, it's not surprising that she would do anything. There's no need to cover up for her."

Although Zhou Qingci's words were not as extreme, the meaning was the same.

"Wen Ning, you can deceive people for a while now, but can you deceive them forever?"

Zhou Donghai cared most about his reputation. He chuckled, "Wen Ning, if this is your attitude, there's no need to retake the college entrance exam. My Zhou family can't afford to lose you!"

Listening to their words one by one, they degraded people to the dust.

Wen Ning's eyelashes drooped slightly, and his thick, curled eyelashes cast a small blue shadow under his eyes, making it impossible to discern his expression.

Gu Boyan looked at her, a hint of ambiguous light flashed in his eyes, and he raised his leg and took a step forward, standing in front of the girl.

"Wen Ning didn't plagiarize, so why don't you understand?"
