Chapter 62: Testing

Chapter 62: Testing

Wang Shaofeng stroked the wine glass in his hand and said casually, "I heard that Miss Wen stayed in that nursing home for three years."

Wen Ning's calm gaze flickered as she raised her eyes to look at the man sitting opposite her.

The silver chain hanging around the man's neck reflected a faint light under the light. Something seemed to flash through his mind quickly, but he failed to catch it in time.

Wen Ning narrowed his eyes subconsciously, "Yeah, it took three years."

It's not about being idle, it's about enduring.

Wang Shaofeng keenly noticed the difference in this word.

He jokingly said, "That sanatorium has a great reputation. They say living there is like being in heaven. Depression is so prevalent these days. I'm thinking about pretending to be depressed and going in there to enjoy myself."

"If the fake becomes real after we go in, Young Master Wang will lose more than he gains." Wen Ning pulled the corner of his lips, a trace of sadness flashing in his eyes.

When Wang Shaofeng heard this, he became visibly nervous, his voice rising, "What do you mean?"

After saying that, she realized his tone was wrong and quickly laughed nonchalantly, "I heard that the medical staff in the sanatorium are very good at treating patients. How could they force someone to get sick? Miss Wen is joking on purpose."

Meeting the man's tense gaze, Wen Ning's tense heart relaxed a lot.

According to the previous investigation into the Wang family situation, Wang Mengmeng is an illegitimate daughter, but Wang Shaofeng is the legitimate eldest son.

She also thought that Wang Shaofeng might be very hostile to Wang Mengmeng.

But now it sounds like that is not the case.

Wen Ning thought for a moment and said, "My roommate had mild bipolar disorder when he was admitted to the hospital, but after five years of treatment in the sanatorium, he has now developed severe bipolar disorder."

Bipolar disorder?

Wang Shaofeng's expression suddenly became nervous. "Male or female?"

"Girl." Wen Ning's voice was a little hoarse.

Wang Shaofeng clenched his fists and couldn't help but blurt out, "Is her name...Wang Mengmeng?"

Wen Ning was stunned for a moment and hummed.

"Fuck it!" Wang Shaofeng cursed.

Wen Ning looked at him steadily without saying anything more.

Because at this moment Wang Mengmeng was like walking on a tightrope and could not afford any mistakes.

If Wang Shaofeng was not trustworthy at all, her recklessness would put Wang Mengmeng in an irretrievable situation.

Wang Shaofeng breathed heavily, glaring at Wen Ning fiercely. "You said her bipolar disorder has worsened. What's going on?"

Wen Ning didn't answer, but asked, "If you want to know, why not go to the sanatorium and see her?"

Wang Shaofeng clenched his fists even tighter.

The murderous aura all over his body seemed to be overflowing from him.

This is completely different from how he usually behaves.

After a while, Wang Shaofeng finally said, "I can't go over."

Wen Ning was stunned and asked subconsciously, "Why?"

Wang Shaofeng's back seemed to suddenly lose strength. He leaned back in his chair, his eyelids drooping, and said with a self-deprecating smile, "I can't, so why bother asking so many questions?"

Wen Ning hummed softly and changed the question, "Do you want to go see her?"

Wang Shaofeng's eyes suddenly raised, but quickly dropped again.

He subconsciously touched the silver chain around his neck, his fingers stroking the small fish pendant, with a hint of tenderness and caution hidden in his movements.

Looking at this scene, Wen Ning suddenly remembered where she had seen this silver chain.

Wang Mengmeng also has one exactly the same.

That day, she came back from outside at two o'clock in the morning.

Wen Ning wanted to comfort her, but he didn't know how to say it, so he just sat with her by the bed.

Wang Mengmeng advised her to go to bed early, but she was still worried. However, she didn't want to worry Wang Mengmeng too much, so she pretended to lie down, but kept watching her carefully.

Then I vaguely saw Wang Mengmeng take something out from under the quilt.

In the moonlight, it reflects a silvery-white light.

The room was very dark at that time and she couldn't see clearly. Now that she saw the silver chain in Wang Shaofeng's eyes, she finally made the real connection.

Wen Ninggu's breathing quickened a bit as he asked again, "Do you want to go?"

Wang Shaofeng laughed self-deprecatingly, "No, I don't have anything to do with her anymore. Whether her bipolar disorder is serious or not has nothing to do with me."

Wen Ning was silent for a moment and then said, "Tomorrow afternoon, I will go to the sanatorium again to see Sister Mengmeng."

"You!" Wang Shaofeng's eyes changed, and then he said stiffly, "You have such a good relationship with her?"

Wen Ning smiled, but the smile didn't reach his eyes, and he looked a little sad.

“She’s my most important sister.”

Hearing the word "sister".

For some reason, a hint of extreme sorrow suddenly flashed in Wang Shaofeng's eyes, but soon, he became a little timid.

"Oh, it seems that she is doing really well in the nursing home. She can even recognize such a great sister like Miss Wen."

It was unclear whether this was a mockery of Wang Mengmeng or Wen Ning.

But Wen Ning didn't care.

There are many things that she needs to meet Wang Mengmeng before she can make a decision.

However, the next afternoon, when Wen Ning came to the sanatorium again, he did not have the opportunity to visit his friend.

The security guard at the door stopped her directly and refused to let her in no matter what she said.

Doctor Wang sneered and said, "Miss Wen, you've become more and more courageous since you were discharged from the hospital."

Wen Ning didn't waste any time talking to her. He simply asked, "Wang Mengmeng's injury has worsened again?"

Doctor Wang's expression changed, but he quickly smiled grimly and said, "Miss Wen, you're meddling too much. Be careful not to get caught in your own trap."

"Then you don't have to worry about it."

After saying this, Wen Ning's face darkened completely, and she stared at Dr. Wang.

"Doctor Wang must be very curious too. I'm a family abandoned girl. The dean has called the Zhou family several times. How come I haven't been completely abandoned by the Zhou family yet?"

Doctor Wang's face gradually became gloomy.

This was indeed something he was quite curious about.

When Wen Ning was first admitted to the hospital, she was rated C. However, after staying there for almost three years, the Zhou family ignored her and her rating almost dropped to D.

But unexpectedly, after going out, he felt better.

There had been a few disobedient patients like this in the past, but as long as the director personally visited their homes for a follow-up visit, either the parents would send their children back to the sanatorium, or the children would become obedient from then on and never dare to have any thoughts of disobeying the sanatorium again.

But, Wen Ning, it is indeed strange.

Wen Ning then added, "Doctor Wang, you're probably scared too. If I really become the eldest daughter of the Zhou family, how will I recover from the injuries I sustained in the sanatorium over the past three years?"
