Chapter 8: Watching Fireworks at Tianchuan Festival

For three days in a row, Shen Yuerong claimed to be sick, did not greet her mother-in-law, did not meet any servants, and even avoided Fu Hengyu when he knocked on the door.

The entire general's mansion was in chaos. Du Wan lived in the most ordinary guest room and cried in front of Fu Hengyu many times, but there was no good result.

Fu Hengyu had no money to renovate the general's mansion, nor did he have money to marry her. The huge general's mansion depended entirely on Shen Yuerong.

On the morning of the fourth day, Shen Yuerong had just finished washing up and was thinking of basking in the sun in the yard when Old Madam Fu came to her house with her personal nanny under the pretext of visiting.

"Rong'er!" Madam Fu held her hand affectionately, and after she sat down, she said with a look of relief, "You have been wronged for the past three years. Mr. Shen passed away early, and you were the only one in your mother's family. Fortunately, Hengyu is back now, and you can finally enjoy happiness after all the hardships."

Madam Fu was able to get to where she is today not because she was completely incompetent. She made the ugly words clear at the beginning, reminding Shen Yuerong that there was no one behind her and she would still have to rely on the General's Mansion in the future.

Shen Yuerong’s face turned slightly pale, her expression was clear, but her eyebrows still showed a little more fragility when she heard the words “Father Shen”.

She pulled her hand back and replied calmly, "Mother, how did you find time to come to my place today? But what did Miss Du say?"

"What can a skinny girl like her understand? She is just a girl from a small family. Her temper, character, ability and means are not as good as yours." Madam Fu was caught off guard by Shen Yuerong's words, and her smile froze on her face.

Shen Yuerong looked at the old lady, who was still wearing the bracelet she had given her. Has her heart already leaned towards Du Wan, who was pregnant?

"So, mother doesn't think highly of her, does she?"

Facing Shen Yuerong's question, Madam Fu was speechless for a moment, and reluctantly uttered a sentence: "Now that she is pregnant with Hengyu's child, there is no turning back for the two of them. Hengyu, he can't do anything about it, you should be more considerate."

"So that's the truth." Shen Yuerong laughed at herself, "It's unfair for her to be a concubine who can bear children."

Madam Fu frowned even deeper, thinking that Shen Yuerong had really changed. She used to speak to her in a soft voice and with a cautious tone, but now she dared to ask back!

"Look at what you are saying, you silly boy. How can a person like her be worthy of being a concubine? At best, she is just a maidservant. When the child is born, won't it be yours?"

"Mother, tell me, if the same thing happened to me, would you say the same thing to Hengyu?" Shen Yuerong said indifferently. Before, she thought that Madam Fu was really thinking about her, but now it seems that she is only thinking about her son.

Seeing that Chen Yuerong was stubborn, Madam Fu looked very cold: "Rong'er, you are usually well-behaved and sensible! As the daughter-in-law of the Fu family, you should always put the interests of the Fu family first. From now on, the three of you should work together. As the saying goes, husband and wife are of one mind. You should take charge of the interior, and Hengyu should take charge of the exterior. Are you still afraid that our Fu family will not have a chance to make a breakthrough?"

"Why don't you understand?"

Shen Yuerong's eyes were slightly cold, and she sneered in her heart: "It's OK for them to join hands, it's none of my business."

Madam Fu was dissatisfied: "How come you have nothing to do with it? You are in charge of the general's mansion. Even if Du Wan gives birth to a son, he will be raised under your name. Isn't everything still in your hands? Besides, when you are in charge, everyone in the mansion is convinced."

Shen Yuerong sneered. Everyone was convinced because of the benefits that the five major industries she founded brought to the Fu family.

In that case, then just stay with them.

"Mother is right. Rong'er hasn't thought it through yet."

"I have a weak constitution and I've been ill recently, so I've put these things on hold. When I recover, I'll resolve them and reassure my mother."

Having said that, it is still up to her to decide when she is well enough and when these things can be resolved.

When Mrs. Fu saw that her words had worked, a hint of pride suddenly flashed across her eyes. She thought that Shen Yuerong had made progress, but now it seems that she is just a rotten wood with a strong appearance but a weak heart!

After leaving the yard, she hurriedly called the nanny beside her: "Go! Call the general to my room immediately. Just a few words have kept him busy for several days, and it all depends on me to do it!"

Fu Hengyu stayed in Madam Fu's room for several hours. When he came out of the room with a secretive tone, Qinghua hurried back to the yard and told Shen Yuerong what happened.

Not knowing what tricks the mother and son were going to play, Shen Yuerong washed and changed her clothes early, and went to bed as soon as night fell.

But she didn't expect that just a moment later, Fu Hengyu came to visit her for the first time.

Looking around, the precious antiques or masterpieces of famous artists that were recovered from Lu Linxuan filled Shen Yuerong's room. Compared with here, Du Wan's residence could only be described as simple.

But he has important things to do today, and he must not ruin his big plan because of such a small matter!

"Rong'er, today is Tianchuan Festival, and there are people setting off fireworks on the street. Come on, I'll take you to see it." After Fu Hengyu finished speaking, he didn't care about Shen Yuerong's opinion and pushed the wheelchair out of the house.

She knew Fu Hengyu was going to take her to watch the fireworks, but she didn't expect that they were going to watch them on the palace wall.

This side can be seen not far from the General's Mansion. Shen Yuerong thought that she had seen the palace wall many times on weekdays. Now that she was really sent up there and felt the night breeze on her face, she realized that the feeling was different.

This was the first time she stood in such a high place since she became disabled.

From Liu Street to Xuanwu Street, heading towards the East Market and the West Market, Shen Yuerong's eyes passed over one block after another. As night fell, every household lit up their lights.

"That's the Chen Mansion." She pointed to a place as if possessed by a ghost. Originally, it was a beautiful scene of stars falling into the human world, but that place alone was plunged into darkness.
