"I wish you could come home with me."
Xia Wan uttered this sigh.
Cui Ziqi's gloomy expression suddenly brightened.
He looked at Xia Wan in disbelief, sunlight streaming into his clear eyes from the window, but the light quickly faded.
"What nonsense are you talking about?"
He held Xia Wan's hand tightly, lowered his head to her hair, and kissed the top of her head as if that wasn't enough.
Xia Wan nestled in his arms, her gaze fixed on the painting in front of her.
She meant it; she wished Cui Ziqi could go home with her.
But they are from two different worlds.
That night, Xia Wan was tormented for a long time.
She collapsed on the bed, exhausted and drowsy, feeling uncomfortable all over. She was very sleepy but couldn't fall asleep.
As the night wore on, she grew angrier and angrier.
She tried to pinch the arm that was across her waist, but the man's muscles were hard and she couldn't pinch much flesh.
She kicked him again, but because she lacked strength, the damage was less than 0.01.
I got even angrier.
Cui Ziqi was woken up by her commotion.
He clingily closed his arms and pulled the person into his embrace.
"What's wrong?"
His voice was deep, filled with a rich sense of satisfaction, magnetic and pleasant to listen to.
Xia Wan said, "I'm hungry, go and make me something to eat."
If she can't sleep, he can't sleep either.
Cui Ziqi was still sleepy, but he did not refuse her.
He nuzzled his fluffy head against her neck. "What do you want to eat?"
"I want to eat braised pig's trotters, with some potatoes stewed on top, and two light stir-fried dishes, along with a soup."
Cui Ziqi slowly raised her head in the darkness.
Xia Wan raised her hand to turn on the light, and turned her head to meet Cui Ziqi's indescribable face.
"...There are no pig's trotters in the kitchen."
The kitchen receives fresh ingredients delivered daily.
Cui Ziqi thought for a moment and realized that there were only a few eggs and some vegetable leaves left in the kitchen today, oh, and half a smoked fish.
"How about smoked fish noodles?"
Xia Wan didn't speak, but stared at him with her clear and bright eyes.
After a long while, Cui Ziqi was defeated.
"Wait."
He got dressed and got out of bed, calling Zuo Cheng as he walked towards the bedroom door.
"Go buy half a pig..."
After Cui Ziqi left, the bedroom fell silent.
The moonlight, like water, flowed into the windowsill, blending softly with the warm light in the bedroom.
Xia Wan got up and walked to the window, looking at the half-finished tomb building outside.
There was no one around at night.
Xia Wan thought for a moment and then went downstairs.
The manor was quiet, with cicadas chirping loudly on the back hill, and the roses swaying in the breeze as if in a dance.
The tomb building is just a frame, and it looks broken and messy.
She stepped inside, where the remaining pebbles lay pitifully at her feet.
She picked it up, and a faint electric current seemed to pass through her mind.
It's the system!
Xia Wan was certain; it was indeed the system's voice!
She tried to contact the system again, but could hear nothing except a faint electrical hum.
"Wanwan, what are you doing here?"
A man's voice sounded behind her, startling Xia Wan so much that her hair stood on end.
She turned her head and gave him a disapproving look.
"You walk silently?"
Cui Ziqi had a trench coat draped over his forearm and draped it over Xia Wan's arm as he walked over.
He grasped Xia Wan's hand, his brows furrowing slightly.
Why is it so cold?
He grabbed the stone from her hand and threw it aside, then took her hand in his large palm.
"Going out without wearing any clothes, do you want to get sick again?"
Xia Wan let him warm her hands.
But his gaze swept over the entire building by the moonlight.
She asked, "Ziqi, what will be placed in the cemetery building in the future?"
Cui Ziqi answered her casually.
"Put my mother's things, and Cui Jiyang's flesh and blood there."
His reply was casual, but a chill ran down Xia Wan's spine: "Flesh and blood?"
Cui Ziqi's gaze shifted from her hands to her face.
Moonlight streamed through the frame of the tomb building and fell on Xia Wan's face, adding a touch of ethereal beauty to her porcelain-white smile.
“Cui Jiyang should kneel before my mother’s grave and repent for the rest of his life. Of course, he will definitely not want to, so he should repay with his own flesh and blood, one bowl of flesh and blood a day, until his bones are white.”
He spoke calmly, as if he were talking about something extremely ordinary, completely unaware of how horrifying the blood and flesh he was talking about were.
Xia Wan's hands turned cold again.
Cui Ziqi seemed to realize that he had frightened her, and pursed his lips, considering whether he should explain.
Xia Wan was indeed frightened by his words.
But then he thought of how Cui Jiyang had first placed You Shuang's ashes in Cui Ziqi's two bungalows, making You Shuang watch her son suffer.
It's not surprising that Cui Ziqi followed suit.
It was indeed a bit cruel.
She pursed her lips, but couldn't help saying, "Didn't you promise me you wouldn't kill anyone?"
Cui Ziqi looked at her slightly furrowed brows and reached out to smooth them out.
"I won't kill him; it would be too easy for him to die."
Xia Wan stared at him for a while, then snuggled into his arms.
Her slender arms tightly embraced his waist.
"I don't care what he is like, I just hope you don't ruin yourself because of someone unrelated."
Cui Ziqi was slightly taken aback when he heard her muffled voice.
He hugged her back after a long while.
He escorted Xia Wan back to her bedroom and told her to call him when dinner was ready.
Xia Wan did not refuse.
Originally suffering from insomnia, Xia Wan suddenly relaxed, perhaps because she found some clues about the system, and drowsiness came over her, and she slowly fell asleep.
After preparing the meal, Cui Ziqi called Xia Wan to eat.
But she was already asleep.
He thought for a moment and gently called Xia Wan's name twice, wanting to ask her if she still wanted to eat pig's trotters.
