Near the south of Lincheng is Fanshan Mountain, which is about 1,500 meters high and is the most pristine mountain range in Lincheng.
It is also a mountain range that has belonged exclusively to the Cui family for over a century.
The Cui family's manor was built halfway up the mountain, with rows of buildings painted pure white in a Gothic style, supported by flying buttresses and clustered columns, and decorated with stained glass windows.
It has a mysterious feel, and also carries the flavor of a dream castle from a fairy tale.
The hill behind the castle.
There is a wild animal park enclosed by an iron fence, which also serves as a fighting arena.
Inside the arena, Cui Ziqi's pupils were blood red as he raised his fist and smashed the skull of the last wolf that pounced on him.
The air was thick with the pungent smell of blood, and his back, arms, and abdomen bore the bloody marks left by the sharp claws of wild beasts.
Centered around him, several ferocious wolves lay scattered about.
"Fantastic! The duel between the madman and the wolf is absolutely spectacular!"
Whistles and excited shouts of clapping came from outside the iron fence.
Three men and one woman were sitting leisurely in chairs, their eyes filled with excitement, as if they were watching a thrilling action movie.
Cui Ying, dressed in a fiery red princess dress with her straight hair hanging down her side, leaned back in her chair with her legs crossed, looking smugly at the disheveled Cui Ziqi.
The person who had just been whistling excitedly was the man in a white suit sitting to Cui Ying's left.
His eyebrows and eyes are seven or eight parts similar to Cui Ying's; he is Cui Ying's older brother, Cui Xuze.
"There are just too few wolves. It would be much more interesting if we released all of Grandpa's treasures to fight this madman!"
"This madman doesn't even deserve to cook for Grandpa's precious baby! Let's teach him a lesson this time. Who told him to dare lay a hand on our little princess!"
The twin brothers sitting to Cui Ying's right were the sons of Cui Ying's uncle. The two of them looked at Cui Ziqi with disgust.
Cui Ying looked at the scene with disdain.
"Useless beast! A pack of wolves can't kill a madman!"
The gates of the Wildlife Park opened.
Cui Ziqi walked out, her bloodshot eyes having returned to normal at some point.
He ignored the mockery of the others, dragged his injured coat slowly to the ground, and prepared to leave.
"stop!"
Cui Xuze got up from beside Cui Ying and stood in front of Cui Ziqi.
A pair of eyes, like those of a venomous snake, fixed on him, emitting a fierce threat.
"A bastard son of yours really thinks he's some kind of young master? Remember this, you're nothing but a dog of the Cui family. If you dare lay a hand on my sister again, I'll make you wish you were dead!"
Cui Ziqi casually flicked the blood and flesh left by the wolf on his fist, some of the bits of flesh landing on Cui Xuzhe's white suit.
He was so angry he jumped up and down, about to unleash a torrent of curses.
Cui Ziqi's gaze, however, lightly landed on his face.
His voice was icy and chilling, "You try it."
Startled by Cui Ziqi's murderous gaze, Cui Xuze involuntarily took a step back.
What are you doing?
A dignified, deep voice came from the side. When Cui Xuzhe saw the person, he quickly bowed his head and called out, "Dad."
Cui Ying and the twins quickly stood up and respectfully greeted their father.
Mr. Cui approached, leaning on a cane. He looked to be in his forties, with many wrinkles on his face. He looked old, but his eyes were frighteningly bright.
His gaze swept over Cui Ziqi, then he glared at Cui Xuzhe and the others, and reprimanded them in a stern voice.
"Nonsense! Don't you know the charity gala is in a couple of days?"
Cui Xuze and the others lowered their heads and dared not breathe.
Cui Ying quickly stepped forward and took her father's arm, acting coquettishly.
"Dad, that madman kicked me in the hospital a few days ago. How can I let this go if I don't get revenge?"
Cui Ying was the little princess of the family, and everyone in the Cui family doted on her, including her father.
His serious expression softened a bit when his daughter started to act cute.
"Now that you've avenged yourself, hurry back home. Your mom made your favorite little cake."
Cui Ying smiled and beckoned Cui Xuzhe and the others to leave.
Only then did Mr. Cui stare at Cui Ziqi with a stern face.
"How dare you hit Ying'er? Have you lost your mind? Or do you not want that thing anymore?"
Cui Ziqi's eyes flickered slightly, but he lowered his gaze and remained silent.
Mr. Cui snorted and used his cane to poke into the long scratch wound on Cui Ziqi's abdomen.
Blood mixed with the mud at the base of the cane slid down.
Cui Ziqi groaned, her body trembling slightly, but she insisted on standing still.
Only when Cui Ziqi's face turned pale and his limbs trembled did Cui's father put away his cane, which had a bloodstain the length of a finger bone at the bottom.
"If you ever dare to lay a hand on anyone from my Cui family again, I'll send you back to the mental hospital and destroy that thing!"
He threatened in a deep voice, then continued, "Go and prepare for the charity gala the day after tomorrow. If you dare to mess things up, you know the consequences."
After saying that, Mr. Cui turned and left without any hesitation.
Cui Ziqi then covered the gaping wound on his abdomen, from which blood was gushing out. His already pale face was now almost transparently white.
He bent slightly, bowing his head and enduring the intense pain in his body.
The cell phone rang abruptly.
Cui Ziqi took out her phone with trembling hands, and the words "Xia Wan" flashed brightly on the screen.
"Cui Ziqi, where are you? I'm so bored! How can you bear to leave me alone in the apartment?"
As soon as the call connected, the girl's sweet and soft voice came through.
As if by magic, the stinging pain in Cui Ziqi's wounds miraculously subsided after hearing her voice.
"If you're bored, just stay home."
He spoke coldly after a long pause, his voice no different from usual.
"Are you even speaking human language? If you're bored, why are you just sitting here? Isn't that even more boring? Can't you come and play with me?"
"cannot."
Cui Ziqi resolutely refused and walked unsteadily toward the manor gate.
Xia Wan on the other end of the phone snorted and muttered casually, "Stingy!"
Then she changed her tone and pleaded softly, "Aren't you going to the charity gala the day after tomorrow? I'd like to go too, but I don't have an invitation, so I'll have to go with you~"
Cui Ziqi paused, thinking about what would happen the day after tomorrow.
His eyes darkened instantly.
"cannot!"
He can't let her see him in such a sorry state!
A sharp pain shot through his body, and fearing he wouldn't be able to maintain his voice, he hurriedly hung up the phone without waiting for Xia Wan's reply.
He stumbled and almost fell to the ground.
After the pain subsided, he straightened up, put on his coat to cover the bloody wounds, and walked step by step out of the manor.
After he left, Cui Ying, who had returned, stood not far away with her arms crossed, watching his retreating figure with a leisurely air.
"Interesting. So even madmen can like people."
For some unknown reason, a cunning smile crept onto her lips.
"Great, it's more fun when you have people you care about."
She looked away and turned to leave as if nothing had happened.
