Chapter 26 Responsible

"Your wound..."

Before Xia Wan could finish speaking, the ointment in Cui Ziqi's hand fell to the ground, and then she limply pounced on her.

"Cui Ziqi!" Xia Wan caught Cui Ziqi as she fell.

The warmth in my hands was obvious.

She quickly helped Cui Ziqi lie down on the bed.

They found a pair of scissors in the room and cut open his white, blood-stained shirt.

The wound on the man's chest was completely torn open, the skin was turned inside out, and blood beads surged on the white flesh, sliding down his smooth, fair skin.

Xia Wan frowned slightly when she saw his wound, and gently lifted his hand that had just been holding the broken porcelain shards.

There is an inch-long wound in the palm of my hand that goes deep into the bone.

Without hesitation, she found a dressing in the first-aid kit and pressed it against his still-bleeding wound. When the bleeding slowed down, she decisively went out.

"Zuo Cheng, have someone bring the medical team from the ship!"

Zuo Cheng slumped down at the doorway, looking quite badly injured.

Hearing Xia Wan's voice, he insisted on getting up, "Sister-in-law, how is Brother Qi?"

"It's alright now, but the wound reopened and needs immediate treatment. What happened to you? Did Cui Ziqi hit you?"

Zuo Cheng nodded, then shook his head.

“I’m fine, sister-in-law. I’ll call the medical team right away.”

The medical team arrived very quickly.

The doctor couldn't help but gasp when he saw the injuries all over Cui Ziqi's body on the bed.

These wounds look like they've been there for two days. The pain of a second tear is much worse than the first one, and it's also more likely to leave a scar.

After the doctor confirmed with Xia Wan that the wound needed to be stitched up, Xia Wan nodded and stepped aside to make room for the doctor.

She had Zuo Cheng sit on the sofa while another doctor examined him.

"The external injury is not serious, but the internal injury is uncertain and requires a detailed examination."

At Xia Wan's instruction, Zuo Cheng followed the doctor to the medical room for an examination.

An hour later.

The doctor finally stitched up Cui Ziqi's wound.

After giving Cui Ziqi an IV drip and a few more instructions, the doctor left.

Xia Wan sat on the edge of the bed, looking at Cui Ziqi's restless sleeping face.

He sighed unconsciously.

"They really are a handful."

She got up and went into the bathroom, quickly came out with a wet towel, and wiped the sweat from Cui Ziqi's forehead and the bloodstains on his body.

When Zuo Cheng returned to the room, Xia Wan had already tidied up Cui Ziqi.

She also cleaned the room.

The IV drip slowly fell, just like Zuo Cheng's relaxed state of mind, slow and damp.

"Sister-in-law, how is Qi-ge?"

How are you feeling?

The two spoke at the same time.

They were stunned at the same time.

Xia Wan first comforted him, "Cui Ziqi is fine now. After this bottle of anti-inflammatory medicine is finished, the doctor will change the medicine for him."

Zuo Cheng let out a soft breath.

At Xia Wan's prompting, he sat down on the sofa again.

"Sister-in-law, I'm fine. The doctor said the internal injuries aren't serious. I'll be fine in a couple of days after taking some medicine."

Xia Wan chose a spot where she could clearly see Cui Ziqi in front of the bed and also talk to Zuo Cheng.

After hearing Zuo Cheng's words, she asked, "Why did Cui Ziqi hit you?"

In the original book, even though Zuo Cheng offended Xia Zhizhi, Cui Ziqi didn't actually harm Zuo Cheng.

The two were sworn brothers, so why would Cui Ziqi hit Zuo Cheng?

Zuo Cheng remained silent for two seconds before slowly speaking, posing another question to Xia Wan.

"Sister-in-law, are you scared of Qi-ge looking like this?"

"What are you afraid of?" Xia Wan was taken aback.

“Qi-ge is sick, mentally ill.” Zuo Cheng looked at her meaningfully. “When he has an episode, he will indiscriminately hurt people. The brutality and bloodshed he can cause are beyond your imagination. Aren’t you afraid of Qi-ge like this?”

Xia Wan roughly understood Zuo Cheng's thoughts.

She laughed. "If I were scared, I would have run away just now, and he wouldn't have hurt me."

As she raised her lips, a sharp pain shot through the wound on her lip, instantly extinguishing her confident arrogance.

That doesn't make sense, doesn't it? Shouldn't this also be considered an injury?

Zuo Cheng could tell that his boss did treat Xia Wan differently.

Furthermore, Xia Wan is also wholeheartedly devoted to his boss.

He was silent for two seconds, his lips moving as if he were muttering to himself.

"Perhaps only you can save Qi Ge."

"What did you say?"

Xia Wan looked at Zuo Cheng with a puzzled expression.

Zuo Cheng shook his head before changing the subject and telling Xia Wan about how he was injured.

After parting ways with Xia Wan on the deck, Zuo Cheng returned to Cui Ziqi's room. Not long after, Cui Ziqi woke up.

When Cui Ziqi woke up, she was already in a frenzy, her eyes bloodshot, and she rushed downstairs without saying a word.

Zuo Cheng tried to stop Cui Ziqi, but Cui Ziqi became unrecognizable to her family and friends when she fell ill.

He kicked Zuo Cheng in the chest, and Zuo Cheng could no longer get up.

Xia Wan learned what happened next.

Xia Wan frowned, looking at the swollen figure on the bed, her lips twitching.

She never expected that Cui Ziqi would go crazy like this because she secretly gave him sleeping pills.

She shouldn't lie to him next time...

...

The charity banquet will begin at 7 p.m.

At that moment, Xia Wan was slumped on the ground, leaning against the edge of the bed, holding Cui Ziqi's hand and resting it on her forehead, fast asleep.

The sky was dark, with only the ship's lights streaming through the windows and into the ceiling.

Cui Ziqi suddenly opened his eyes, and the unfamiliar environment made him subconsciously sit up straight.

A sharp pain shot through his body, and he unconsciously frowned and clutched his chest.

Suddenly, I felt a warm sensation on my hand.

He tilted his head, his gaze landing on the top of Xia Wan's head.
