Xia Wan's master bedroom has an open-air balcony, which is empty and has no decorations.
The floor-to-ceiling window connecting the balcony and the bedroom was slightly ajar, and the heavy, dark curtains swayed in the night breeze, allowing moonlight to filter through the gap and blend with the bedroom's blindingly bright light.
Xia Wan carefully placed the agreement that she had finally managed to coax Cui Ziqi into signing into the bedside table.
The system inevitably commented on her behavior.
[Host, you're really something. Cui Ziqi only made one condition in this agreement, and in addition to the three you mentioned before, you added several more unequal treaties when you signed it. This is blatant exploitation.]
Xia Wan didn't take it to heart.
'Why are you feeling sorry for capitalists? I'm poor now. If I don't create more opportunities for myself, how can I win over the capitalists?'
The system couldn't argue with her.
After washing up, Xia Wan lay down on the bed and picked up the original novel again.
The system wouldn't give up.
Are you still looking for a job?
'What job am I supposed to look for? I only have three more months left in this world. That little pervert said he'd provide for me, so I'm not going to bother.'
Are you really sure you can win over Cui Ziqi in three months?
'I'm not sure, I'm giving myself time.'
The system didn't understand Xia Wan's meaning, and Xia Wan wasn't prepared to explain.
She has stayed in this world long enough.
Her eyelids drooped, and she answered the system's questions casually, as if she were talking about someone else's business.
In the end, the system was about to crash.
I've read the original novel several times, but there's still no news about Cui Ziqi's mother.
Xia Wan closed her eyes in the bright white light.
In the last moment before her thoughts stopped, only one sentence remained in her mind: 'The lights are too bright.'
My phone, which was on the bedside table, vibrated; a new message from an unknown number appeared on the screen.
...
The next morning.
As soon as Cui Ziqi stepped out of the room, she smelled the aroma of food filling the air.
Xia Wan was wearing the pink frog apron she had bought yesterday, carrying out two bowls of seafood porridge.
"You're up, come and eat."
The table was set with breakfast items such as crystal buns, sausage slices, and egg rolls, each one exquisite and fragrant.
Cui Ziqi walked over, her gaze sweeping over the lavish meal on the table, then she glanced at the person beside her who was eagerly seeking praise, and coldly uttered:
"You can cook?"
He remembered someone saying they couldn't cook and then messing around in the kitchen.
Xia Wan's smile froze, and she quickly tried to find an excuse for herself.
"I just learned it online this morning, do you believe me?"
Cui Ziqi pointed her slender fingertips at a peach blossom pastry on the table. The pastry was small and neatly stacked, with a delicate and luscious flaky crust and a sweet aroma that stood out among the other breakfast items.
"Did you learn this online?"
Is the starting level for a beginner this high?
Xia Wan felt guilty, "I'm just exceptionally talented..."
She learned her cooking skills from a special chef over the past three years, hoping to win Zheng Minghuai's heart through his stomach, but she clearly failed.
Secondly, it was a way to vent my frustrations during those undignified and suffocating days; cooking was also a stress-relieving process.
She had long forgotten about the time she casually told Cui Ziqi that she couldn't cook.
The little pervert hates being deceived the most.
Will he get angry?
She glanced up at Cui Ziqi's expression; his face was calm.
Seeing her look at him, he lowered his eyelids, revealing a sharp glint in his eyes, his expressionless face devoid of any emotion.
There was neither joy nor anger.
"Let's eat first, it took me a long time."
Before Cui Ziqi lost his temper, she had to quickly divert his attention.
She pressed Cui Ziqi down on the dining table, shoved a spoon into his hand, sat down beside him, propped her cheeks up, and looked at him with starry eyes.
"Try it, how is it?"
A vague and indescribable emotion welled up in Cui Ziqi's heart. It wasn't happiness, but a light, intoxicating feeling, as if she were drunk and didn't know where she was or where her heart was.
For the first time in his life, he woke up to the aroma of breakfast in the early morning.
The long, cold table, which has stood for countless days, has been either filled with stale soup and leftover rice, or with only one person present.
Now, the table was laden with a sumptuous feast, and a small, warm head, as gentle as the sun, nestled beside him, casting a burning gaze.
This feeling is wonderful.
It's very much like...being alive.
He took a sip of porridge, and the light emanating from the small sun beside him became even more intense.
"It tastes good."
The saltiness was just right, and the fresh flavor of the seafood was well preserved. The shrimp, arranged in a heart shape, were crystal clear.
"Great! Then drink more, and try these snacks too."
Xia Wan moved all the breakfast items on the table to Cui Ziqi, her face beaming with smiles.
Cui Ziqi paused, "Aren't you going to eat?"
"Just watching you eat makes me feel happy and full."
"Cough cough!"
Xia Wan quickly grabbed a tissue and handed it to Cui Ziqi, then placed a glass of milk in front of him.
"Drink some milk to soothe your throat."
She wanted to pat his back to help him catch his breath, but then she remembered that he had an injury on his back, so she gave up.
Cui Ziqi looked up and glared at her. She really would say anything to seduce him!
He took a sip of milk.
Hot.
My stomach feels warm now.
"Eat slowly, I won't fight you for it."
Xia Wan was incredibly oblivious, yet she looked at him with a smile, her eyes brighter than the sun.
Cui Ziqi felt both warm and uneasy during this breakfast.
Just as he was about to leave, Xia Wan suddenly grabbed his hand.
Are you happy this morning?
Cui Ziqi narrowed her eyes, instantly becoming alert.
Can I have a good morning kiss?
