Zuo Cheng glanced at Cui Ziqi's noticeably gentler expression and remained silent, looking rather sullen.
If you had toned down that smile a bit, I might have believed you.
Thunder roared in the sky, and the rain poured down even more heavily, making a pattering sound through the French windows.
Cui Ziqi suppressed a smile and said coldly to Zuo Cheng beside her:
"I casually let Duan Shuangshuang know that she should come to me in person."
Zuo Cheng was surprised, "Brother Qi, Duan Shuangshuang wants you to kill Zheng Minghuai."
A soft chuckle mingled with the sound of raindrops hitting the glass.
"I was just looking for a reason to take action."
Cui Ziqi toyed with the earphones in her hand with her slender fingers. Her expression was calm, yet it concealed a turbulent undercurrent, making it hard to ignore the murderous intent hidden within.
Zuo Cheng hesitated for two seconds before finally speaking.
"But Brother Qi, your wife might be upset if you do this."
As soon as he finished speaking, a sharp gaze shot towards him, and he immediately straightened his back.
"I apologize for speaking out of turn. I'll get on it right away!"
"return!"
Zuo Cheng paused in his turn and quickly turned back to face his boss.
"Go and drive the car out."
As she spoke, Cui Ziqi put away her headphones and walked out of the private restaurant first, her face already calm.
Zuo Cheng let out a long sigh of relief.
He said that Qi Ge's mood had calmed down a lot in the past few days.
The rain came down suddenly and heavily, and the shopping district was crowded with people. In no time, the whole street was jammed with all kinds of cars. Thick fog and red lights made it seem like the end of the world, even though it was daytime.
Xia Wan stood at the entrance of the mall, looking at the three-digit queue on the ride-hailing app, her face darkening.
She didn't bring an umbrella and couldn't get a taxi, so was she going to have to go back to the mall?
She didn't want to run into that crazy woman again.
Just as I was struggling with whether or not to go back to the mall, a black Bentley pulled up in the rain at the mall entrance.
The people waiting for the bus looked over as the window rolled down, revealing half of Cui Ziqi's handsome face.
As soon as Xia Wan looked up, she met Cui Ziqi's gaze. Her face lit up with joy, and she rushed into the rain without a care, quickly opening the back door and getting in.
She was only exposed to the rain for a few seconds, and the rapid, dense raindrops had already soaked her hair and clothes.
The car windows were closed to block the view from outside.
Xia Wan hastily wiped the raindrops from her face and looked at Cui Ziqi next to her with a bright smile.
"Thank goodness you came, otherwise I would have been stuck in the mall all day!"
The partition between the front and rear seats suddenly rose, and the car slowly moved forward.
Xia Wan met Cui Ziqi's gaze, and her smile froze on her lips.
Little pervert.
He seems unhappy!
Cui Ziqi's dark, abyss-like eyes fell on her, his cold, hard face exuding an indescribable sinister aura, as if he wanted to stare a hole through her.
Xia Wan lowered her head.
Good heavens!
Chiffon fabric collapses when wet, and at this moment the skirt clung tightly to her skin, subtly outlining her graceful figure. As she lowered her head, raindrops slid down her neck and disappeared into the collar of her dress, creating a suggestive image.
No wonder the partition between the front and back rows rose up as soon as she came in!
She instinctively covered her front and turned to glare at Cui Ziqi.
Cui Ziqi's lips curled into a mocking smile. "It's too late to cover it up now."
It's not like we're not going to pick her up, so why did she have to get on the bus in the rain?
Should!
He casually picked up the blanket next to him and threw it over.
Xia Wan pulled off the blanket covering her head and wrapped it around herself to ward off the remaining chill.
After her subconscious self-protection mechanism subsided, Xia Wan felt a little embarrassed. She rolled herself up in a blanket and looked at Cui Ziqi with a smile.
"Actually, it's fine if you see it, after all, we'll have to... um..."
Her mouth was covered by a hand wrapped in gauze, and the roughness of the hand rubbing against her skin made her feel uncomfortable. The smell of medicine mixed with the unique pine scent of the man wafted towards her.
She blinked, looking at the man who was so close to her, covering her mouth.
Cui Ziqi's ears flushed slightly, but his face remained expressionless, even showing signs of anger. His deep eyes glared at Xia Wan, threatening her fiercely.
"Shut up."
This woman can say anything!
Unreserved, unashamed!
Xia Wan smiled and nodded under his gaze, showing no fear whatsoever.
Cui Ziqi even wondered if he had become kind-hearted.
Why am I becoming less and less afraid of him?
He let go of her hand, turned around and sat back in his original seat. He leaned back in his chair, seemingly casually closing his eyes to rest. His black shirt clung to his chest, the shape of the gauze underneath barely visible.
Xia Wan pinched the edge of the blanket, which felt very soft against her skin.
How did you know I was in the mall?
"Just passing by."
Okay, so she said that's why he came all the way to pick her up.
Seeing his slightly furrowed brows, his exquisitely handsome face bathed in the warm yellow glow of the car's roof light, one could vaguely sense his fatigue.
She gave up on teasing him, and instead leaned back in her seat like him, tilting her head to look at the hazy scenery outside the car window.
The sound of rain pattered through the quiet back seat of the car.
Xia Wan's eyelids began to feel heavy, and just as she was about to doze off, she heard a man's deep voice in her ear.
Why didn't you buy anything at the mall?
Xia Wan was a little more awake. "I didn't go shopping. I went to meet someone."
She is honest, though.
Cui Ziqi turned her head to look at her.
"Who did you see?"
"A complete stranger, utterly disgusting."
Xia Wan genuinely disliked Duan Shuangshuang; her brows furrowed with disgust as she spoke.
People like Duan Shuangshuang, who speak ill of others while simultaneously asking for their help, have skin as thick as titanium alloy—impervious to blades and spears!
