"He's not crazy."
Xia Wan instinctively retorted.
Xia's father's face turned ashen, and he was about to rebuke someone when a short, mocking laugh came from the side.
Following the sound, Zheng Minghuai got up from the sofa.
The man was tall and handsome, wearing a well-tailored custom-made suit that accentuated his pale face, giving him a touch of smugness.
He walked up to Xia Wan, bent down slightly, and a faint smile curved his lips. His slightly upturned peach blossom eyes, which were staring straight at her, held no smile at all, but were as abyss-like and terrifying.
"Xia Wan, have you thought this through? This is the only chance I'm giving you, and it will be the last."
Xia Wanman retorted casually, "Then please take back your chance, young master. I don't need it."
Zheng Minghuai snorted softly, a deep disgust flashing in his eyes.
He straightened up and said defiantly, "Fine! Just pretend I was never here today. As for the project I just discussed with Uncle Xia, my father is in charge, so I'm afraid I don't have the authority to make that decision."
Hearing this, Xia Zhizhi's eyes flashed with joy, but she quickly suppressed it and looked over with a worried expression.
Xia's father's expression changed, and he quickly got up and smiled apologetically at Zheng Minghuai.
“Minghuai, don’t you know Wanwan? She’s been pursuing you for over three years, how could she not want to get engaged? She’s just blinded by happiness.”
As he spoke, Xia's father looked at Xia Wan with a stern face. His fawning tone suddenly turned deep and carried a hint of warning.
"Wanwan, this is not how you play hard to get. Be careful that Minghuai doesn't take it seriously and then he really won't marry you. Stop being willful. I've agreed to this marriage on your behalf."
Xia Zhizhi also held Xia Wan's hand and gently persuaded her.
"Yes, sister, don't be angry with Minghuai. Being with Minghuai has been your wish for the past three years, hasn't it?"
“Just listen to your dad and get engaged to Minghuai. Minghuai is such a good person, I believe he will treat you very well after we get married.”
As she spoke, Xia Zhizhi smiled and looked at Zheng Minghuai.
She appeared generous and gentle, offering her blessings to the couple.
Zheng Minghuai guiltily looked away, his eyelashes trembling slightly as he concealed the affection he had inadvertently revealed.
Xia Zhizhi misunderstood him, thinking that he no longer wanted to look at her. Her smile froze, and her disappointment grew infinitely.
But she controlled herself well and didn't look at Zheng Minghuai anymore.
Xia Wan watched the two of them act, and couldn't help but sneer inwardly.
Why do these two act so much like ill-fated lovers who are not accepted by the world but cannot suppress their love?
And she was the third party who interfered in their deep love affair!
It's worth noting that when Xia Zhizhi was brought back to the Xia family three years ago, they were very supportive when they learned that she liked and was pursuing Zheng Minghuai intensely, and they would often offer her advice.
She smiled, took Xia Zhizhi's hand, and said earnestly.

Seeing Xia Zhizhi on the verge of tears, Zheng Minghuai disregarded everything else and pulled her behind him to protect her.
He glared at Xia Wan.
"I didn't force you to marry him, so why are you taking your anger out on Zhizhi?"
"What did I do? I'm not angry, why are you getting angry?" Xia Wan blinked. "Can't you even hear the truth?"
Her three questions, coupled with her innocent expression, left Zheng Minghuai momentarily speechless.
Looking at the face she had been licking for three years, Xia Wan felt utterly disgusted.
She lost interest in continuing to maneuver around here.
She turned to look at Xia's father, whose face had already darkened, and spoke with a faint smile.
"Dad, I won't get engaged to Zheng Minghuai. The Xia family has more than one daughter. If you really want that contract, you can arrange for my sister to marry Zheng Minghuai. Wouldn't that be the best of both worlds?"
"What nonsense are you talking about? Your sister isn't a tool for an arranged marriage!"
"So, I am one?"
Xia Wan's face suddenly turned cold, and her once bright eyes were now filled with icy coldness.
The cool morning light drifted in through the irregular French windows of the living room, dappling Xia Wan's unusually aloof profile.
Indifferent, aloof.
This is completely contrary to her spoiled and willful behavior at home over the years.
Xia's father was stunned, and even Zheng Minghuai next to him was shocked and stood there in place.
In his presence, Xia Wan always greeted him with a smile—a warm, radiant smile, a smile of unconditional doting affection.
Never before had her eyes been so cold, devoid of all passion for him, leaving only extreme indifference and even a hint of impatience.
He suddenly felt uneasy.
Being contradicted in front of so many people, Xia's father also lost face.
His tone rose slightly, and his eyes were filled with resentment as he looked at Xia Wan.
"Xia Wan, when did you start being jealous of Zhizhi? Zhizhi is the same age as you, but you've always lived with me, and I've never skimped on your food, clothing, or other necessities. But what about Zhizhi? Three years ago, she was living a hard life in Shui County. Can't you tolerate her?"
Xia Wan laughed, "Dad, is it my fault that Xia Zhizhi is having a bad time? She's three months younger than me, which means that when my mom was three months pregnant with me, you were already having her with another woman."
"When did you cheat on me? You only brought Xia Zhizhi back after my mother passed away. Did you even know she existed before? You cheated on me and then mistreated your illegitimate child. Now that the child is having a hard time, you're blaming me? You're really something!"
