Chapter 83 Afraid of falling, I held her hand tightly. (shuhaige.net)

At lunchtime, Xia Wan pushed a plate of steamed egg custard in front of Cui Ziqi.

"Have some steamed egg custard, made with free-range eggs, it's good for your health."

She stared at Cui Ziqi with a smile, her face full of flattery.

Cui Ziqi glanced at the steamed egg custard. "Did you put something in it?"

Xia Wan nodded honestly, "I drugged you with love drugs."

Cui Ziqi wanted to dump a bowl of steamed egg custard on her head.

"Just say what you want to do."

He coldly exposed her intentions, and casually scooped up a spoonful of steamed egg custard and put it in his mouth. It was salty and sweet, a taste that was hard to describe.

He frowned.

Xia Wan put down her chopsticks and moved closer to him.

"I want to go out with you this afternoon."

"good."

"If you don't agree..." Xia Wan froze. "What did you say?"

Cui Ziqi looked down at her. "Didn't you want to go out? I'll take you out this afternoon."

Xia Wan had a whole host of excuses to pester him relentlessly, but they were stuck in her throat and she didn't get a chance to say them.

She squinted at Cui Ziqi and clicked her tongue twice.

This made Cui Ziqi look at her with suspicion.

"There's an old saying that's really true."

"What did you say?"

"The way to a man's heart is through his stomach!"

The meal she prepared with care today successfully moved Cui Ziqi, who then agreed to take her out.

Cui Ziqi silently put down his spoon, then looked at Xia Wan with a hesitant expression.

In the end, he said nothing.

"Go and rest for a while, I'll call you later."

With that, he got up and left the table.

Aren't you going to eat?

I'm full.

Xia Wan looked at his bowl; the steamed egg custard was finished, and there was no rice left.

The little pervert has a pretty good appetite today.

Afternoon.

Cui Ziqi led Xia Wan out of the hospital.

Xia Wan thus gained a clearer view of part of the village.

The layout of Anshou Village descends from high to low, nestled in a mountain valley, with a few mud-brick and tile houses scattered among the rows of single-story houses.

The land is neat and tidy, with small wildflowers peeking out between the field ridges.

Cui Ziqi walked ahead, stepped down a higher ridge, turned around, and stretched out his hand to Xia Wan.

The rising sun pierced through the clouds, casting a warm glow on his face.

Xia Wan suddenly realized that, away from the bustling world of Lincheng, Cui Ziqi blended into the countryside without any sense of incongruity.

Even more so, he seemed more relaxed overall.

Xia Wan placed her hand in his palm and jumped down the paddy field ridge with his help.

The rural roads were unpaved, with muddy paths and uneven stones, making it feel like you were getting a foot massage.

Fortunately, the midday sun was strong and the road was relatively dry, so it wasn't easy to slip.

"Are you going to the pharmaceutical factory?"

Xia Wan asked.

"No, I'm going to find someone."

"People from the village?"

"Um."

Xia Wan didn't ask any more questions. It was a good opportunity for her to find out more about the people in the village.

"Walk properly."

Seeing Xia Wan walking briskly, even jumping off a high rock, Cui Ziqi's brow twitched, and he couldn't help but scold her.

Xia Wan raised an eyebrow at him, seeing how nervous he looked, as if he was afraid of falling.

"You look so handsome when you're worried about me!"

Cui Ziqi gazed at her calmly, his deep eyes remaining completely still.

Then he turned and left.

Xia Wan pouted and chased after the clueless man, taking his hand.

"I'm afraid you'll fall, so hold your hand tightly."

Cui Ziqi glanced down at her and gently took her hand in return.

The two stopped in front of a mud house.

The door was half open, and the little boy sat on the threshold, folding a small frog out of a piece of paper.

He was startled to see Xia Wan and Cui Ziqi coming together, and threw away the paper frog as he rushed inside.

Cui Ziqi was even faster; before the little boy could enter the house, she grabbed him by the back of his collar and dragged him out.

The little boy's face turned pale with fright.

When Cui Ziqi turned to look at him, his cold face was full of ruthlessness, and his sinister eyes were cold and vicious.

His eyes reddened, and he opened his mouth as if to cry.

"Don't cry." Cui Ziqi had no sympathy for the child, only coldly glaring at him. "If you dare to cry, I'll kill you."

The little boy quickly covered his mouth, tears welling in his eyes but not daring to fall.

Xia Wan recognized him as the little boy who had kicked the ball at her and Zuo Cheng that morning.

Although she had wanted to teach the little guy a lesson that morning, she still did not advocate Cui Ziqi's violent intimidation.

She stepped forward and rescued the little boy from Cui Ziqi's grasp.

Why are you scaring him?

Cui frowned. "You're taking his side?"

Seeing this, Su You quickly hid behind Xia Wan.

Xia Wan dragged the person out and looked at Cui Ziqi with a smile.

“I don’t know this kid at all, why should I speak up for him? I just don’t know why you came to see him.”

Cui Ziqi's dark expression softened somewhat.

He looked at the child again, his expression as cold as ever, but the slight curve of his lips carried a hint of bloodthirsty chill.

"Nothing much, just wanted to settle some scores with him."

Su You was so terrified that she was even provoked to a bit of anger.

"You murderer! It was the medicine you made that killed my grandfather! So what if I punctured your tires? Go ahead and kill me if you dare!"

Living ancestors!

Xia Wan watched as Cui Ziqi's smile grew increasingly sinister, and promptly gave Su You a sharp rap on the head.

"He didn't make the medicine; you've wronged him."

"Who wronged him? Everyone at the pharmaceutical company is a murderer. If you're with him, you're a murderer too!"

"Little brat, according to you, if you kill someone, your grandfather will be a murderer, your parents will be murderers, and even the wife you're going to marry in the future will be a murderer?"
