Chapter 10 If you dare to betray me

Within ten seconds, only Xia Wan and Cui Ziqi remained in the room.

The medical equipment that had just filled the living room vanished in an instant.

It's as if they've never been here before.

Cui Ziqi threw away the cotton swab, used her fingertip to scoop out a small spoonful of medicine, and walked to Xia Wan's side and behind.

"Pull your clothes down."

Xia Wan obediently pulled down her left shoulder, exposing the butterfly birthmark to the crisp air, which then entered Cui Ziqi's eyes.

His pupils flickered slightly, and he quickly shifted his gaze to the bluish scar on her back below her left shoulder.

If her skin wasn't too delicate, then the impact must have been too severe for her to sustain such a deep-colored injury in such a short time.

The cool medicine was spread on the wound, and Xia Wan felt the burning pain in her back relieved, and she relaxed completely.

Surprisingly, this little pervert's movements were quite gentle.

"alright."

A deep, magnetic male voice came from behind her. Xia Wan thanked him and started to pull up her clothes.

Unexpectedly, Cui Ziqi suddenly grabbed her hand, and Xia Wan subconsciously turned her head to see his face approaching.

His dark eyes were fixed on the butterfly birthmark on her shoulder, and his slightly furrowed brows showed a hint of confusion.

“I remember that there were golden lines on the wings of this butterfly birthmark back then.”

Xia Wan froze instantly.

"You...remember wrong, right?"

"No, I remember it very clearly!"

Cui Ziqi was resolute. He released Xia Wan's hand and gently stroked her birthmark with his long, slender fingertips.

He pressed further, "Why aren't there any gold lines here?"

Xia Wan's scalp tingled!

At that time, Xia Zhizhi was wearing a dress with a butterfly embroidery on the left shoulder, and the wings were outlined with gold. This was a birthmark she had since birth, so how could there be gold lines?

Under the increasingly chilling pressure from behind, she quickly spoke up.

Have you ever heard of body painting?

Xia Wan turned her head to look at him, taking the doubt in his eyes to heart, and began a new round of deception.

"Body painting uses special plant dyes to draw various patterns on the human body to achieve artistic and vain effects. I have loved drawing since I was a child, so I learned from the aunties who did body painting at the school gate and added some color to the butterfly on my shoulder in front of the mirror."

"Perhaps when you saw it, the paint on the butterfly hadn't worn off yet, which is why you saw the golden lines."

Xia Wan pretended to be calm and even smiled at Cui Ziqi very naturally.

Cui Ziqi stopped talking and calmly pulled up her collar.

His expression was indifferent, his deep eyes were unwavering, and it was impossible to tell whether he believed her or not.

Xia Wan was unsure of what to do, but dared not continue to explain, fearing that the more she said, the more flaws she would reveal.

Fortunately, Cui Ziqi stopped paying attention to the butterfly on her shoulder and simply bent down to put the medicine away.

"Apply this medicine twice a day, and apply it yourself in front of a mirror at night."

Xia Wan curled her lip, thinking, "What a heartless man."

A thought struck her, and a faint smile appeared on her lips.

"This injury is too far back, my arms aren't long enough. Why don't you have that doctor from earlier come and apply it for me tonight?"

As soon as she finished speaking, Cui Ziqi's deadly gaze shot towards her, the undisguised murderous intent between his brows sending a chill down her spine.

"How about I have Zheng Minghuai apply it for you?"

A man's voice, chilling to the bone, rang out.

Xia Wan shook her head vigorously, "Then I'd rather do it myself!"

Whenever Zheng Minghuai was mentioned, she thought of the humiliation she had suffered over the past three years, and her heart and eyes were filled with disgust.

Cui Ziqi suddenly leaned over and grabbed her chin. His gloomy and sullen handsome face was only a fist's distance away from her, and the crisp scent of pine emanating from him surrounded her.

Xia Wan heard the deep anger emanating from his chest.

"Xia Wan, you chose me. If you dare to betray me, even if you saved me, I will kill you, understand?"

Each word, spoken slowly and deliberately, was like the voice of a demon piercing through hell, lingering in her ears.

Xia Wan's fingertips turned slightly white, her heart filled with extreme fear, but she dared not reveal a trace of it on her face.

She smiled faintly, "I knew it the moment I decided to walk towards you."

She couldn't shirk the system's mission, but her determination to go back still led her closer to the danger posed by Cui Ziqi.

She always knew that being around this little pervert was like standing next to a bomb with a loose pin; one wrong move and she would be blown to pieces.

Even so, she could not back down.

The sun had risen high in the sky, its gentle light streaming through the open French windows of the living room and bathing the two of them.

The subtle chill that had arisen between the two gradually dissipated in the sunlight.

Finally, Xia Wan turned her head, escaping Cui Ziqi's clutches, and said softly, "I'm so hungry, is there anything to eat? Can you cook?"

If he stays for dinner, he should be able to stay here longer.

Cui Ziqi's icy gaze turned to disdain. He straightened up and glanced down at her, about to retort.

Xia Wan clutched her stomach, looked up at him with a pout, her gaze pitiful and weak, "I can't cook, but I'm so hungry. I haven't eaten anything since I got up..."

With the words stuck in his throat, Cui Ziqi compromised once again.

"Wait."

He gritted his teeth and said it, then got up and walked towards the kitchen.

Xia Wan's eyes lit up. This little freak really knows how to cook?

After confirming with the system that there was still an hour and a half left, Xia Wan very consciously got up and went to the kitchen to cause trouble.

They claimed they felt bad for leaving him to work alone, and that since they were occupying his house, they should do their part.

'Bang!'

"Sorry, I didn't hold it properly."
