The next day was a rainy day.
The smart window on the balcony was closed, and raindrops slanted across the glass, leaving streaks of water like shooting stars.
When Xia Wan woke up, the rain had subsided.
The bedroom curtains were not drawn, and the natural light streaming in from the window did not bring much illumination to the dim room.
She was about to get up when a force pulled her back onto the bed.
She turned around in surprise and met Cui Ziqi's stunningly beautiful face, which was so close to hers.
The man lay on his side above the blanket with his eyes closed, his hand reaching across her abdomen, his large palm pressing firmly against the other side of the blanket.
The moment she moved, the hand pressing down on the blanket seemed to have eyes, tightly restraining her and the blanket.
The man was asleep with his eyes closed, as if all his movements were subconscious.
Xia Wan suppressed the urge to urinate, wondering whether she should wake him up.
You could see the dark circles under his eyes; it was clear he hadn't rested well after taking care of her all night. Had he just fallen asleep?
But why was he pressing down on her?
She was immobilized and lay flat on the bed, unable to move at all.
After thinking about it, she decided to keep it to herself.
A rumble of thunder came from afar, and the rain outside the window intensified, pouring down, giving Xia Wan, who was stubbornly waiting for Cui Ziqi to wake up before going to the bathroom, a significant hint.
After enduring it for nearly ten minutes, she was so uncomfortable under the covers that she started sweating.
She glanced at Cui Ziqi, whose eyes were tightly closed, and tried to gently reach her hand out from under the blanket.
The moment she moved, Cui Ziqi seemed to consciously press her down tightly.
As luck would have it, it pressed right onto her abdomen.
She hissed in pain.
The noise she made woke up the people around her. Cui Ziqi opened her eyes abruptly, sat up, and saw Xia Wan's pained expression.
"What's wrong?"
His voice was hoarse, and the concern he uttered still carried the lingering effects of sleep.
Xia Wan looked up at him, her face scrunched up in embarrassment, and said lightly, "I can't hold it in anymore!"
The next second, she pushed Cui Ziqi away and ran towards the bathroom.
After thoroughly washing away her pain, Xia Wan slowly left the bathroom.
Cui Ziqi sat on the edge of the bed, his head drooping, his black hair falling smoothly down his forehead, casting shadows over most of his face.
Xia Wan couldn't see his expression clearly, so she shook the water off her hands and walked closer to him.
"What's wrong? Still sleepy? Do you want to sleep a little longer?"
Cui Ziqi suddenly looked up, and his bloodshot eyes startled Xia Wan.
"Didn't you sleep all night? Why don't you get some more sleep? I'll make something to eat and call you for dinner later."
She turned to leave, but her wrist was grabbed by a large, burning hand.
"You go to sleep, I'll get it done."
Cui Ziqi rubbed his temples, regaining some of his energy.
After experiencing it once, he realized how difficult it is to take care of a patient.
After giving Xia Wan painkillers last night, she stopped whimpering and complaining of pain.
In the latter half of the night, she had a dream, sometimes saying she wanted to eat pickled cabbage, sometimes lifting the covers and complaining of being hot.
Cui Ziqi suppressed the urge to throw her out, pulled the blanket over her tightly, and lay down on his side next to her to prevent her from moving around.
The girl gradually calmed down after being restrained.
Cui Ziqi felt that taking care of patients was more tiring than fighting.
He dared not let go, listening to her shallow breathing, until he gradually fell asleep in the early hours of the morning.
He was about to get up when Xia Wan pressed him down.
"Don't worry, I'm fine now. My head doesn't hurt anymore. I can still stretch my muscles a bit. You go to sleep, okay?"
A girl's soft voice rang out from above.
Cui Ziqi squinted at the unsightly white gauze on her head, and couldn't help but feel a surge of annoyance.
"You really need to sleep?" he asked in a hoarse voice.
Xia Wan nodded solemnly, "Of course! Look at your red veins and bruises. If you don't go to sleep soon, I'll be terrified when I see you next time!"
"OK!"
Cui Ziqi seemed to have made a decision, and replied in a deep voice.
He lifted the covers, put one arm around Xia Wan's waist, and with a gasp from Xia Wan, he pulled her onto the bed with him.
The blanket fell down, covering the two people embracing.
Xia Wan nestled in his arms, her hands unconsciously pressing against his chest. The cool, pine scent unique to men filled her nostrils, and a blush instantly rose on her surprised face.
"I...I mean you sleep alone..."
She even stuttered a little.
"You said you'd go to sleep, order takeout later, and nobody's allowed to cook."
A cold, sharp voice came from above.
He wasn't so wicked as to expect an injured person to prepare food for him!
But Xia Wan forced him to sleep, and if he didn't watch over her, she would definitely go and cook.
After much thought, I feel more at ease keeping the person by my side.
Xia Wan had no idea that Cui Ziqi had so many complicated thoughts in his mind.
Listening to her own heart pounding, she unconsciously grabbed Cui Ziqi's clothes, burying her head almost entirely in the blanket.
What happened?
Normally, when she flirts with Cui Ziqi, she wouldn't react this strongly.
They're just sleeping in the same bed, yet her heart feels like it's going to burst out of her chest.
This is so unlike her!
She shrank back and unconsciously moved to the side.
But Cui Ziqi pulled him back with a big hand.
What's this man up to?
Does she need someone to accompany her even when she sleeps? Is she really that dependent on her?
His hand was tightly around her waist, and his cold voice carried a hint of displeasure, "Where are you going?"
Xia Wan didn't dare to look up at him, otherwise her burning face would surely betray her.
"……hot."
She uttered a single word softly, her voice sounding so weak.
Cui Ziqi didn't notice. He thought of Xia Wan saying the same thing last night, wanting to lift the covers because she was hot, and his expression turned even worse.
He pulled the blanket tighter and threatened the person in his arms fiercely, "If you kick off the blanket again, I'll throw you out."
Please, just throw me out already!
She was completely pinned down and dared not move at all.
She could only shrink into his arms and try to calm herself down.
Soon, she heard the soft breathing of a man who had fallen asleep above her. Xia Wan was terribly awake at this moment and wanted to take the opportunity to get out of his arms.
But as soon as he moved, his hand subconsciously pulled her into his arms.
She wanted to cry but had no tears.
What should I do? She's so hot!
...
Zuo Cheng discovered that the person who injured Xia Wan at the movie theater that day was one of Cui Jiyang's men.
His eyes narrowed, and he drove to Haiquan Apartments to tell Cui Ziqi the news.
He had just arrived at the Haiquan Apartment building when he ran into Cui Nan, who was looking for Cui Ziqi.
Cui Nan is the only person in the Cui family who is good to Cui Ziqi.
Zuo Cheng also showed her much more respect.
"I'm also looking for Ziqi, let's go up together."
Zuo Cheng didn't know what Cui Nan was coming for. Although Cui Nan treated Cui Ziqi well, she was, after all, a member of the Cui family.
He was wary of everyone in the Cui family.
After sending a message to Cui Ziqi, he went upstairs with Cui Nan.
