Chapter 90 Clues to the You Family

Xia Wan followed Zheng Minghuai into the underground arena of the boxing gym.

The pungent smell of fish and stench made Xia Wan gag as soon as she entered the room.

Zheng Minghuai glanced at Xia Wan and sneered.

“This is Cui Ziqi’s black market business. Whether it’s human trafficking or underground boxing, every penny he earns is not clean.”

Xia Wan covered her mouth and nose, and it took her a lot of effort to recover.

The smell brought tears to her eyes.

She didn't take Zheng Minghuai's words to heart, her gaze sweeping across the entire arena before finally settling on the competition stage.

Two shirtless, muscular men were rubbing their fists and doing warm-up exercises, waiting for the starting horn of the competition to sound.

This scene is all too familiar.

Xia Wan immediately thought of the previous cruise ship charity event and the underground boxing match arranged by Cui Jiyang, where there was also a group of men like that.

It seems that the person behind this is not Cui Ziqi.

Seeing Xia Wan frowning and remaining silent, Zheng Minghuai assumed she believed him.

He scoffed lightly and led Xia Wan to sit in the middle of the audience seats.

The man sitting to Xia Wan's left chewed gum, glanced at Xia Wan casually, and then looked back at the competition stage with great interest.

"The people on the stage have signed a life-or-death contract. If they win, they get a bonus, but if they die, they get nothing. They don't want to die, so they will fight desperately. Over the course of a year, no fewer than a hundred people die on the stage."

The town is not managed like a city, and the boxing gym is located in a remote part of the town.

The underground boxing ring has excellent soundproofing, so even the loudest cheers cannot be heard.

As soon as Zheng Minghuai finished speaking, the surrounding explosions startled Xia Wan.

Looking up again, a fight had broken out on the stage.

The two fighters on the stage were veterans, their punches landing hard and drawing blood. They were fighting with bloodshot eyes, wishing they could kill each other with the next blow.

Xia Wan sat in the audience, unconsciously clenching her clothes.

In a daze, she seemed to see Cui Ziqi on the competition stage surrounded by iron railings. The boy was young and thin. He was being pressed to the ground, and hail-like fists were hitting his body and face. His handsome face was beaten into a pig's head, but his eyes under his swollen eyebrows were still filled with murderous intent.

A tear silently slid down her cheek.

She raised her hand to wipe it away, then came to her senses.

Why? The images that just flashed through my mind felt so real?

[Host, I need to share some information with you. An unidentified energy fluctuation has appeared in the novel's world. There was a signal last night, and just now there was another brief signal.]

Xia Wan finally snapped out of her inexplicable emotions. The surrounding noise seemed to have subsided, and the system's voice in her mind was very clear.

'What's the meaning?'

[The main system is currently investigating the specifics, but I must remind the host that if any external object enters the novel's world, this world could very well change as a result. Cui Ziqi's corruption level has now stabilized, and I will arrange for the host to expedite the conquest of the male supporting character later, striving to complete the mission as soon as possible.]

[To help you complete your mission, I will adjust the plot and arrange for Yu Jia to return to China as soon as possible. Then, Yu Jia will be involved in the romance between the male and female leads in the novel, and you can focus on winning over Cui Ziqi.]

The system's tone was unusually serious.

Xia Wan's heart sank, and she lowered her eyes, lost in thought.

Zheng Minghuai noticed Xia Wan's appearance and assumed she was frightened.

He scoffed softly, leaned down, and whispered in Xia Wan's ear:

"See this? This is Cui Ziqi's world. You think you understand him, but aren't you afraid that one day he'll sell you out himself? Or make you go to this arena too?"

His goal was to scare Xia Wan and make her willingly return to Lincheng with him.

Xia Wan finally gave him a disgusted look. "Can you just shut up?"

She was brought out of the basement by Zheng Minghuai and brought here by him, supposedly to watch the game, but actually he just wanted to talk bad about Cui Ziqi.

I was already irritable, and hearing his voice made me even more annoyed.

Zheng Minghuai didn't see the fear and lingering apprehension that Xia Wan should have seen, and his expression grew increasingly grim.

"Xia Wan, you're such a slut! It was one thing for you to fawn over me before, but now that you know Cui Ziqi is this kind of person, you're still so stubbornly clinging to your fantasies..."

"Shut up! You're so annoying. You weren't happy when I was trying to please you, but now that I'm keeping my distance, you're clinging to me. Who's the one who's being pathetic, you or me?"

Xia Wan glared at Zheng Minghuai, completely ignoring his anger.

"I'm warning you one last time, mind your own business and go live your life with Xia Zhizhi!"

After saying that, Xia Wan kicked Zheng Minghuai's leg away and left the audience.

Zheng Minghuai had seen Xia Wan angry before, but he had never seen her so cold and serious, her deep, pool-like eyes filled with disgust.

He felt a sudden, sharp emptiness in his heart.

He paused for two seconds before catching up.

The match was fiercely contested, and the cheers from the audience grew louder and louder. Some, their eyes bloodshot with excitement, stood up and rushed to the edge of the platform, shouting at the top of their lungs, "Kill him!"

Xia Wan rushed towards the door against the direction of these people with bloodshot eyes, almost getting knocked over several times.

After finally getting out of the door, she looked around the dimly lit corridor before running in the opposite direction from where she came in.

She must contact Cui Ziqi as soon as possible.

When Zheng Minghuai chased after her, he didn't see Xia Wan and assumed she had gone back the way she came, so he strode towards the exit.

The corridor was short. After turning a corner, Xia Wan hid in front of the nearest door, planning to wait until Zheng Minghuai was far away before going out.

She held her breath and waited, but a woman's voice came from the side.

"You Shuang has been dead for twenty years, what's the point of you saying these things again?"
