Chapter 891 Tell the Truth to the Emperor
Emperor Kangxi frowned, glanced at the Fourth Master, and snorted coldly, "He's still making a fuss about not eating. Why isn't he starving to death? Wasn't he very smart when he was hiding it from me? Why isn't he so smart now?"
"Your Majesty, I am guilty. I did not intentionally conceal this, Your Majesty. I simply wanted to expose the mastermind behind this..."
"Okay, stop talking nonsense here." Emperor Kangxi interrupted the Fourth Master: "I don't want to hear it."
Then he glared at the warm wine and said, "You say."
Wenjiu blinked her eyes. What... should she say?
After pondering for a moment, he smiled and said, "Your Majesty, I have been wanting to eat big crabs for a long time. Today, I went to your imperial kitchen and saw a huge crab. Its legs were as thick as my fingers.
This was the first time Jiu'er had seen such a thing. If she hadn't entered the palace, she wouldn't have had this blessing.
Your Majesty, please consider that I have spent so much time preparing so many meals for you. Would you mind letting me have a bite? My mouth is watering with greed."
Emperor Kangxi looked at the warm wine, then at the crab legs on the table that made her mouth water. "Eat, eat, eat! You only know how to eat. You have a big heart. Go ahead and eat yours."
"Ah, your servant thanks the emperor."
Having said that, Wenjiu immediately pulled the Fourth Master over and sat down.
The Fourth Master was still somewhat hesitant, but the warmth of the wine drew him in, and he finally sat down with him. He felt a little uncomfortable, though, and didn't even pick up his chopsticks.
Wenjiu was not polite at all. He picked up a crab leg with chopsticks and put it to the fourth master's mouth: "Master, please taste it."
Even though the Fourth Master didn't look at his Royal Father, he knew he was staring at him, and his expression wasn't very good. He immediately shook his head and said, "I won't eat."
Wen Jiu sighed, stuffed the crab leg into his mouth, and after swallowing it, he said, "Your Majesty, look at this. I don't know what's going on now. No one or two of them are eating. Such a good thing is wasted."
"Warm the wine!" Emperor Kangxi heard the hidden meaning behind Wen Jiu's words, and his expression was not very good: "Even eating can't stop your mouth."
Wen Jiu smiled and said, "I know I was wrong. I know I was wrong. Isn't this because I am concerned about your health? If you don't want to eat, then I will eat it myself."
As he spoke, he moved the plate of crab legs towards himself.
As soon as he picked it up, he felt someone kicking him from under his feet.
Wen Jiu glanced at the Fourth Master opposite him and saw that he acted as if nothing had happened.
"Hmm, it tastes really good." After saying that, he pretended nothing happened and put another whole crab meat into his mouth.
The crab legs are indeed big, slightly thicker than a thumb.
Warm wine and let them cut it open carefully, and make two kinds of flavors: spicy stir-fry and garlic stir-fry.
I also made a steamed egg with crab roe. I cut up the crab meat and made a crab burger. I added chicken feet, and pre-cooked beef tendon, ribs, chicken wings, potatoes, and more—a huge pot full.
There was also a stir-fried pork with chili peppers and a spicy beef salad. The rest of the crab was just steamed. The main course consisted of a tomato dumpling soup and a large bowl of spicy soup. All of which went well with rice.
Even after nibbling on two crab legs with warm wine, I felt my appetite was whetted. I relaxed my stomach and ate with relish.
Emperor Kangxi didn't want to pay attention to Wen Jiu at first, but he thought her trick was effective and at least it could give him some peace and quiet for a while. But now, seeing that she was eating so deliciously, he couldn't help but look over.
As he looked at them, he asked in confusion, "Wenjiu, have you not eaten in a few days? How come so many things have happened recently? My fourth brother and I are both irritated and can't eat or sleep, but you are so calm?"
After a pause, Emperor Kangxi continued, "Do you think your good days have come? Now you're happy without even hiding it from me and the Fourth Prince?"
When Wenjiu heard what he said, he suddenly choked and coughed several times.
The Fourth Master handed her a handkerchief and helped her calm down: "Slow down, slow down."
After a while, he felt more comfortable after warming the wine, and then he said with a bitter face: "Your Majesty, please don't make fun of me."
Wenjiu put down his chopsticks, picked up a steamed crab, peeled the shell intermittently, and said in a gentle voice: "I know what you are talking about. Are you talking about Honghui?
You must be thinking that since this child is not related to me by blood, I will not be sad and may even be gloating over his misfortune."
The crab legs were a bit too hard. Wenjiu tried to peel them twice but failed, so he picked up the scissors. As he cut, he said, "I might as well tell the emperor the truth. In fact, I didn't like Honghui very much at the beginning."
"How dare you! My grandson, are you the one to be unhappy?"
"Your Majesty, please listen to what I have to say. Back then, I was often forced to work for the Lady, and suffered a lot of bullying from her. I almost lost my life several times. Even though Honghui was the Lady's son, I didn't know his character would be any better."
"Oh, you are truly audacious. As a slave, you dare to second-guess your master."
"Your Majesty, this is how people's hearts are. Even if you say you don't want to, how can you really not want to?
But later, after I had been in contact with Honghui for a long time, I found that this child was intelligent, diligent, loyal and filial. He even took good care of his younger brothers and was a very good brother.
Jiu'er thought of her previous misunderstanding of him and felt secretly guilty.
To be honest with Your Majesty, Honghui is already my apprentice.
He's weak. Just two days ago, he was too sick to get out of bed, yet he tugged at my hand and said he wanted to learn some skills from me. He also wanted to see the graceful landscapes of the south of the Yangtze River, and the setting sun over the vast desert. He also wanted to drink heartily and try some spicy food..."
The fourth master listened, his eyes reddening a little. He stared at the warm wine and listened very attentively.
Even Emperor Kangxi walked over to the table and sat down. "So what did you say?"
Wen Jiu continued, "I agreed to it and promised him that I would take him out to play when I had the chance. But... I broke my promise."
"If that's the case, why are you still so calm?" When Emperor Kangxi said this, he was really out of pure curiosity.
The relationship between master and apprentice is equally deep.
As for Ulanara's status in the mansion, it can be said that it has no influence on Wen Jiu.
Honghui has always been in poor health. Although he is the eldest son and the legitimate son, I am afraid that this title will not be given to him.
Emperor Kangxi believed that he was very good at judging people.
Wenjiu was an extremely intelligent person, and she also didn't have any vicious intentions. Even if someone said that Wenjiu had taken action, Emperor Kangxi would not believe it.
"I'm relieved because I just yesterday cleared all the wounds I needed to feel. I saw him one last time, cried my heart out, and burned a lot of paper money for him. I've also taken care of the people he missed. Your Majesty, I've done everything I could.
When I woke up this morning and watched the sun rise as usual, I suddenly felt relieved.
Life is only a few decades long. He died earlier and I died later, but our final destination is the same.
If you have anything to say, just wait until that day comes and I can talk to you in detail."
Wen Jiu said, putting down the pliers in his hand: "Many people in this world are destined to be accompanied by some for a long time and others for a short time. I guess God wants us to have more things to talk about when we get to heaven."
