437. Chapter 437 If You Are a Man

Liu Qi stood in the yard, feeling the eerie silence in the main room, and deliberately glanced at Qin Yao.

Seeing that her expression was obviously different from the gentleness and enthusiasm just now, he guessed in his heart that his father bringing this girl back must be a big trouble.

"Wait for me a moment."

Qin Yao turned around and went into the house to change her clothes, and tied up her long, dried hair with a silver snake hairpin.

He picked up a bag of pastries that he had bought from the county town today, and scooped about ten pounds of millet from the rice jar in the kitchen. He motioned Awang to tell Liu Ji and his sons, and then followed Liu Qi out the door.

Liu Qi walked in front with a lantern, and Qin Yao followed behind him, asking with concern: "How is the village chief?"

Liu Qi sighed, "Grandpa's health has not improved since he caught a cold last time. His condition suddenly worsened a few days ago and he started coughing up blood. My father and uncle rushed him to the town clinic for treatment. He was brought back today and he looks much better."

"But he is old, and after all this trouble, his health has been exhausted by this disease. The doctor told him not to worry about work anymore and to keep himself warm with fine rice, saying that he has been taking medicine for too long, and rice can nourish the stomach."

Qin Yao had been away from the village for four days, but unexpectedly, the village chief went to the clinic again.

What was just a minor cold turned out to be so serious.

Sure enough, as people get older, their body resistance becomes much weaker than before.

Qin Yao also sighed, "When he was selling wolves before the New Year, he could still arm wrestle with others."

"Who said it wasn't true?" Liu Qi said in a depressed mood, "Now I feel like Grandpa has aged ten years. He doesn't even speak as loudly as before."

Qin Yao didn't know how to comfort him, so she followed silently. The two of them soon arrived at the village chief's house.

As soon as he entered the yard, a fiery gaze was cast towards Qin Yao.

Qin Yao raised her eyes and saw Yin Le, who was sitting on a low stool in the main hall of the village chief's house with his hair half-disheveled and his face covered.

Seeing her coming, Yin Le immediately put down the rice soup in his hand and stood up. Perhaps feeling a little guilty, he did not dare to look at her directly, but just lowered his head.

Liu Qi just said that his father rescued Yin Le from two scoundrels in Xiahe Village.

Qin Yao walked up to her and looked her up and down. She was not injured, but her hair was a little messy.

"Are you okay?" Qin Yao asked.

Yin Le hurriedly shook his head and glanced at her quickly with a burning gaze, feeling the hope of becoming her disciple again.

She knew that her benefactor was definitely not as cold and cruel as she appeared to be, and her heart was soft as a thread.

Seeing that she was fine, Qin Yao stopped paying attention to her, took the snacks and the millet she had brought, and went into the house to see the village chief.

The family had just returned home not long ago. The village chief had been lying in bed for several days and had gotten enough sleep. He was now full of energy.

Qin Yao followed Liu Qi's father into the inner room, where the village chief was sitting at the head of the bed drinking rice porridge.

Seeing Qin Yao, he smiled and said, "You're here!"

Qin Yao nodded, raised the millet and cakes to show him, "I heard from Liu Qi that you suffered a lot this time, so I brought you something sweet to make you feel better."

Liu Qi's mother hurried forward to take it, saying that Qin Yao was too polite, and asked her if she wanted tea.

"No need, sister-in-law. I just came to see the village chief and say a few words and then leave in a while." Qin Yao declined with a smile.

"Okay, then you sit down and chat. I'll go out and greet the poor girl."

When they reached the door, Liu Qi's mother asked curiously, "Sister-in-law, that girl said she was your apprentice, is that true?"

Qin Yao neither said yes nor no, and asked Liu Qi's mother to help look after the man and thanked them for rescuing him.

Liu Qi's father said, "Why are you thanking me? Since you know him, we should save him even more."

Thinking of the two scoundrels in Xiahe Village, he was still angry and snorted:

"Two strong and healthy guys, but they don't do any serious work. Next time I go back to Xiahe Village, I will have a good talk with their parents. They can't discipline their children well, so let them go and flirt with the good girl!"

At the same time, I was glad that I knew him, and he was just a fool with much ado about nothing.

If she really meets those gangsters, who knows what will happen to the girl.

"But that girl is quite fierce." Liu Qi's father had already accepted that she was Qin Yao's apprentice. After all, she had not denied it just now. He gave Qin Yao a thumbs up and told her:

"In fact, it can't be said that we saved her. When we arrived, the girl had a stone in her hand that she had picked up from somewhere on the roadside and was throwing it at the two straw bags, making them cry and scream."

When Liu Qi's father thought of the scary scar on the girl's face, he knew that this girl must not be a simple person.

It was probably too dark for those two idiots to see clearly, so they had the guts to come up and cause trouble.

Qin Yao raised her eyebrows secretly, not expecting such an episode.

She said, no wonder she felt something was wrong when she heard Liu Qi say that Yin Le was harassed by two thugs.

"Yao Niang." The village chief suddenly called Qin Yao.

Qin Yao and Liu Qi's father, who were chatting excitedly, stopped and looked towards the old man.

The village chief gave a helpless smile and said, "I feel like my health is really failing. I'll have to trouble you young people to take care of the village's affairs in the future."

Qin Yao didn't think much about what the old man suddenly said. After all, people who have just recovered from a serious illness are always more fragile and their thoughts are more pessimistic.

She smiled and consoled him, "There's nothing serious going on in the village right now. Everyone is fine. There's nothing for you to worry about."

"Don't think too much. Take care of yourself for a few days. When you are well again, go and tell stories to the children together with the tribe leader. Be happy."

The village chief let out a long breath. After hearing her say that, he felt much better.

But he had already made up his mind that it was time to hand over his position as village chief.

At that time, I will have to listen to Yao Niang's opinion. She is very good at judging people.

Qin Yao stood up and said, "Village Chief, you take a rest first. I'll go to the front to see that silly girl. When you're better, we can drink together."

"Okay, go ahead." The village chief looked at her with a smile. He was satisfied no matter how he looked at her, but also felt very sorry.

How nice it would be if Yao Niang was a man?

He would definitely choose her for the position of village chief without hesitation!

Qin Yao felt that the old man's gaze was somewhat complicated, but she was still thinking about Yin Le, the evil creature, so she nodded to the village chief and went out.

Yin Le had already finished his meal. In the past, the village chief's family was reluctant to eat porridge made from refined rice. Thanks to the village chief, today the whole family, including Yin Le, an outsider, also indulged themselves.

As soon as Qin Yao appeared, Yin Le immediately stood up and moved secretly behind her.

Anyone who saw it would think that this was Qin Yao’s new disciple.

Qin Yao thanked Liu Qi's parents for their hospitality, but didn't want to cause any more trouble for them, so she took Yin Le and left with a lantern.

"Benefactor." Yin Le hurriedly walked faster to keep up with Qin Yao's vigorous pace.

Qin Yao looked back at her and shouted coldly: "Why are you following me? I said I won't accept you as my disciple, and I will never accept you as my disciple!"

"I want to take you as my master and learn martial arts from you." Yin Le said stubbornly.

Qin Yao was annoyed and yelled at her deliberately: "If you follow me again, I will beat you to death!"

Yin Le's eyes were full of trust. He shook his head and said word by word: "I don't believe it."

Okay, you don’t believe it, right?

Qin Yao threw a quick punch, and the wind from the punch deformed Yin Le's face.

But she didn't dodge or evade.

Even though she knew clearly that this fist could smash her brains out with one blow.

In that brief moment, Qin Yao even saw the horrible thought of "It would be better to be beaten to death" in her stubborn eyes!
