Chapter 468: Lady's Box

The next day, Song Yu came to Qin Yao's house in the afternoon and took the previous invoice of Fulong Trading Company.

After Liu Bo and others returned this time, all the book boxes that needed to be delivered to Fulon Trading Company had been handed over.

Now that the goods have been cleared, the remaining 50% of the balance should be collected in full.

As usual, Qin Yao would go to the city in person to settle the balance and bring the next order.

But now Song Yu is managing the stationery factory on behalf of Qin Yao, so he came here specifically to ask and get the regulations.

Qin Yao read letters last night and went to bed late. When Song Yu arrived, she had just gotten up and finished her brunch. The Dragon Boat Festival sun was shining brightly, and she felt lazy and lacked energy.

After listening to Song Yu's report, Qin Yao almost fell asleep with her eyes closed.

"Madam?" Song Yu called out, deliberately raising his voice.

The person lying on the chair then opened his eyes and gestured for him to bring the account book over for a look.

Song Yu handed the account book and the contract of the previous order to Qin Yao and explained:

"Madam, the order for 5,000 magical book boxes from Fulong Company has been completed, and half of the stationery gift boxes from Shopkeeper Bai Shan have been shipped, with 50,000 left. It is expected that all of them will be delivered around March next year."

Qin Yao checked the accounts as she listened. After confirming that they were correct, she closed the account book and looked up at Song Yu.

Song Yu asked, "Madam, we still have one thousand taels of silver to pay the balance to Fulong Company. Do you still need to go there in person?"

Qin Yao nodded, "You arrange things at the factory and come with me to the city tomorrow morning. I'll take you to meet some people first, and next time you'll have to do it by yourself."

Song Yu was delighted and quickly agreed.

This meant that he had passed the one-month probation period and had officially gained his wife’s approval.

It is better to do it today than to wait for a day. Song Yu took the opportunity to mention the new product that Manager Qiao Yun and other workers had jointly developed this month.

This was originally his preparation in order to pass the assessment, but he did not expect that the assessment would be passed more smoothly than expected.

Qin Yao knew that Yunniang was developing a new product. It was precisely because she knew this that she was so happy to let Song Yu become a regular employee ahead of schedule.

But she really didn't know the results of the research, so she set off immediately and followed Song Yu to the stationery factory with some expectations.

In order to allow Yunniang to study hard, Song Yu specially allocated a small room for her.

Inside the cabin, there were all kinds of tools and various types of wood, and it looked like a research and development workshop, which made Qin Yao, who didn't know how to do carpentry, itchy hands.

Yunniang did not rest after lunch. As soon as she put down her bowl, she went back to the new product research and development workshop and did the final coloring on the new products that had been made previously.

Qin Yao and Song Yu arrived suddenly. Yunniang, who was concentrating on her studies, was startled by Song Yu's low call and jumped up.

He looked back and saw the person coming. He showed an unhappy look and also breathed a sigh of relief.

Qin Yao walked in and pointed at the box on the table in front of Yunniang, "Let me see."

Yunniang nodded and explained a little embarrassedly: "Once I touched these things, I couldn't remember anything else. Whenever there was a little noise, I would get startled. Manager Qin, please don't laugh at me."

Qin Yao shook her head to indicate that she didn't know how to do that, but she still couldn't help but curl up the corners of her mouth.

Yunniang also made a box, which was very similar in style to the Shenli book box, but the Shenli book box was vertical and had wheels, while this new box was horizontal and had no pull rods or wheels, only handles.

The whole box looked as big as a 16-inch suitcase. The wooden handles were polished to be smooth and round. Qin Yao lifted it up gently and found the box to be unexpectedly light.

Yunniang smiled, took the box and put it on the table, then began to explain it to Qin Yao.

She made a box that could hold luggage, and unlike the usual wooden boxes, it didn’t open and close with hinges, but with a pull-out lid.

This box lid is of the same kind as the one on the Divine Power Book Box.

The wooden box does not open in two halves from the middle, but has a partition in the middle and sliding covers on the left and right sides that open.

Yunniang said: "This way there are two partitions for placing different things. I used waterproof oil paper as the bottom of one side, and ordinary wood as the bottom of the other side. The whole box is coated with waterproof paint, so even without the oil paper, the things inside will not get wet easily."

"There is also a buckle for closing the lid. I use a mechanical lock. When it is closed, you can push the handle on top to lock the box. No one except the owner knows the correct way to unlock it. If you put valuables in it, you don't have to worry about it being stolen easily."

Yunniang became more and more excited as she spoke, and she showed Qin Yao the multi-layer partition bags that she had asked female workers to specially sew. The bags were glued to the wooden box and could be used to hold many fragile items, such as tea sets, tableware, and rouge and powder that young ladies often needed.

The most important thing is that there is a palm-sized round bronze mirror embedded in the box!

Qin Yao thought, isn't this just a combination of a modern coded suitcase and a ladies' hand-held cosmetic case?

Taking another look at the embossed peach blossom pattern on the suitcase and the carefully applied pink and white paint, it is so exquisite that it makes one's heart flutter.

Yunniang touched the pink peach blossoms, her eyes gentle and her smile sweet, "The noble ladies in Kyoto ride horses and parade through the streets, free and unrestrained, really enviable."

"So I thought, since men have magical bookcases, can women also have a lightweight suitcase to hold their favorite personal belongings?"

Yunniang raised her eyes and looked at Qin Yao, her eyes burning, "I named it the Lady's Box."

Qin Yao couldn't help but ask: "It's very expensive, right?"

Yunniang nodded. It was indeed expensive, but cheaper than the divine bookcase because it used less wood and the bronze mirror inside was removable. She would leave a slot for the woman who could afford the bronze mirror to install it herself.

Qin Yao picked up the lady's box and walked in the yard outside the house for a while. Because she was very strong, she couldn't feel the feel of it.

He waved his hand and asked Yunniang's apprentice Yang Fang to come and try.

"Put some commonly used items in it, lift it up and see how long you can walk and whether it is convenient to move." Qin Yao instructed.

Although she didn't know why she gave such an order, Yang Fang chose to do it without thinking. There must be a reason why Manager Qin gave such an order.

Yunniang and Yang Fang found a lot of things and put them in. Yunniang had measured the capacity herself and it could hold some basic personal items, and could also fit two sets of underwear, shoes and socks.

The box was stuffed to the point where it could no longer hold anything, so the sliding lid was closed and fastened using a mechanism code, and Yang Fang picked it up again.

She had learned hunting from her family since she was young and was stronger than the average woman. She lifted the wooden box with a sudden movement and her shoulders sunk, but she quickly steadied herself and walked freely in the yard.

Seeing this, Qin Yao called over a few petite female workers, and they were able to lift the filled ladies' boxes. Although they were a bit heavy, they could carry them for more than half an hour without any problem.

And this is the extreme weight. Ordinary tea sets or rouge and powder boxes would not be so heavy.

So, Qin Yao immediately asked Yunniang to write down the cost details on a list and give it to her. Tomorrow she would take the lady's box with her to the provincial capital.

Maybe I can bring back new orders this time.
