Chapter 33 Rescue Another Group

The Zhou family has always been committed to accumulating virtue and doing good deeds to benefit the community. They firmly believe that evildoers will one day be punished and the dark officialdom will one day be cleansed.

They can live well without taking advantage of their power to bully others, and naturally they would not be willing to suffer the consequences along with the Baofeng County Magistrate one day in the future.

Although moving out of Baofeng County would inevitably mean leaving their homes and businesses behind and causing great hardship, as long as they could protect their families, they could wait until they settled down to earn money and other material possessions.

The father and son reached a deal with Yu Zizhen and said that they could still walk on their own and did not need Yu Zizhen to take them home.

Yu Zizhen didn't force it. She used her sleeves to cover herself and took out two blank passes from the system warehouse and handed them to Zhou Zheng.

"Fill in the blanks wherever you want to go. Remember my face. Someone will use this face and the name Tan Lang to demand payment from you and your son in the future."

Zhou Zheng thought to himself, you didn't even ask where we were going. Are you sure you can find the right place to ask for this favor back after we leave?

He glanced at Zhou Fengnian, who shook his head slightly.

Zhou Zheng frowned, but didn't say anything more.

Zhou Fengnian thought of the group of people he had asked Yu Zizhen to release as well. "The others in the jail were imprisoned for offending the county magistrate's relatives. If it is convenient for you, please rescue them as well."

There were a total of seven prisoners in the jail. Except for them, the other five were thrown into jail because the county magistrate's concubine and daughter bought things without paying, and they were unwilling to let them take them for free.

The county magistrate had never brought the five of them to trial, and even the real Mr. Liu had never done anything to them. The county magistrate's concubine and daughter, angered by their tactlessness, simply locked them up and ordered the jailer to "take care" of them every day.

They suffered from hunger and were beaten every day. They had long regretted their tactlessness and stubbornness. However, the county magistrate's concubine and daughter refused to let anyone redeem them in order to make an example of them.

Zhou Fengnian believed that if Yu Zizhen could save them, they would be willing to accept the conditions offered by Yu Zizhen, which would include giving her some money and working for her for a period of time.

He briefly explained the situation to Yu Zizhen, who was immediately interested.

It's just saving a few people, it's not a difficult thing.

With the idea that it didn't matter if he drove away one sheep or let go of a flock of sheep, Yu Zizhen went to release the other five people in the prison.

Just as Zhou Fengnian said, these people readily agreed to her conditions for rescuing people.

Yu Zizhen treated everyone equally and gave each of the five people a blank travel pass.

With this pass, they can walk out of the city gate with their relatives in a swagger.

The five people held the pass and expressed their gratitude profusely. When Zhou Zheng saw them, he took out the unused medicines of the father and son and divided them among the five people.

These five people were also injured. While they were treating each other's wounds, Zhou Zheng sharpened his hands and picked up his pen to help the two inmates who were not very literate complete their respective travel passes.

As for Yu Zizhen, in order to get these new subordinates, who all had difficulty moving, out safely, she went to the county government office alone while they were receiving treatment for their injuries and writing travel permits.

The two yamen runners who were in charge of guarding the gate were slacking in the same posture as when she came in. Yu Zizhen looked at them from a distance and thought, hey, isn't this a coincidence? They had their backs to her, so it was too easy for her to launch a sneak attack.

She doesn't need any other black technology. She just needs to give them a tube of the kind of knockout smoke commonly used by people in the underworld, and they will fall asleep obediently.

After easily dealing with the two gatekeepers, Yu Zizhen returned the same way to pick up seven prisoners, including Zhou's father and son.

The seven people walked slowly, but fortunately they didn't have to pass through any places where people frequently appeared from the prison to the county government office.

Yu Zizhen led them through an empty narrow alley, and then walked along the wall to the main gate of the county government office.

"Remember this face of mine. Someone will use this face and the name Tan Lang to find you in the future."

Outside the county government office, Yu Zizhen used the dim light from the two lanterns at the entrance to show her face to her seven new subordinates from all angles.

The seven people nodded one after another, saying in unison, "I'll remember it," "I will never forget it," and "Just come, benefactor."

Yu Zizhen then waved at them and said, "Let's go. Be careful on the road."

After she finished speaking, without waiting for anyone to say anything else, she turned around and disappeared into the darkness, returning to the inn with the real-time guidance of the system.

The inn was still bustling at this moment. Fortunately, the courtyard where she lived was secluded enough, so the hustle and bustle in front did not affect her.

She had told the system to wake her up at three o'clock in the morning, but Yu Zizhen didn't even change her clothes. She just pulled over the quilt, lay down, closed her eyes and fell asleep.

Yu Zizhen slept until three in the morning when she was awakened by the system. As she tiptoed out, she asked the system with her mind, "Is there any commotion at the county government office?"

"No." The system reported the situation in a serious manner. "The two guards at the gate thought I had fallen asleep and didn't suspect anything."

As for the four jailers, after eating the pig ears with added ingredients sent by Yu Zizhen, they would not regain consciousness until at least dawn.

"What's the situation with those people now?"

"Five people are ready to leave the city, and the families of the remaining two are unwilling to leave."

Yu Zizhen frowned, "You don't want to leave? Are you reluctant to leave your family business?"

"One is because his parents and brothers are reluctant to leave their family business and don't want to flee with him. Another is because his wife's family objects, and now the two families are arguing over this matter."

After Yu Zizhen asked for details, he found out that the man's father-in-law and his family also ran a small business, and the shop had always been next door to his house. When he went back, his father-in-law, mother-in-law, and brother-in-law immediately got the news and rushed over.

They opposed the man's escape with his family because they were afraid that after his in-laws fled, their family would become the county magistrate's new target because of their in-law relationship with the other family.

The two families argued over this matter. To protect their son from further suffering, the man's parents insisted on following Yu Zizhen's advice and leaving the prison. However, his father-in-law and his family urged him to return to prison and not harm his family and his own family because of a momentary impulse.

"Why don't they go together?"

Since they were afraid of being implicated, why not just run away with them? The pass she gave them was blank anyway, so the accompanying personnel could write as much as they wanted.

The system summarized the main points of the quarrel between the two families, "His father-in-law and his family are unwilling to give up the family business and house."

Both of these families are small businesses with shops in front and yards in the back. If they want to escape now, they will definitely not be able to take away all the goods in their shops.

They also didn't have time to sell the houses with shops in front and yards in the back.
