Chapter 129 Are You Here to Find Your Mother?

Su Mengyan staggered after being pushed by him and almost fell to the ground. Fortunately, Situ Yao supported her in time. "Are you okay?"

Su Mengyan shook her head and glared at the man who was banging on the door. "I'm afraid Wang Shouli didn't let his family know about what he did, otherwise they wouldn't live in a place like this."

"Wait until he leaves, then we'll go in and take a look." Situ Yao knew that Su Mengyan would not give up until she saw the Wang family, so he simply waited outside.

The madman finally left. Su Mengyan went over and knocked on the door, but after a long time, no one came.

After a while, screams were heard, followed by crying.

"Something happened." Su Mengyan said with a frown.

"Come with me." Situ Yao brought her to the bottom of the wall, picked her up and jumped up, and when they landed they were in the Wang family courtyard.

Su Mengyan stopped and heard sobbing. They followed the sound and found a maid crying. Seeing them coming, she was startled at first, but then said fearlessly, "The lady was forced to death. You're too late. Just kill me too. We're all dead anyway."

Su Mengyan saw Madam Wang, whom she had just met during the day, lying on the ground with a peaceful face. There was a child beside her, and an old woman was sitting next to her. There was a few bites of food on the table.

"What's going on?" Su Mengyan asked, reaching out to touch Mrs. Wang's nose, but there was no breath.

Situ Yao also checked on the other two and said with a frown, "They died of poisoning."

"How dare you ask?" The maid said frantically, "Madam has explained countless times that she didn't know your Excellency had done such a thing. She even knelt before them, but they just wouldn't believe her. They think we all deserved to die, even though we knew nothing about it."

"We're just here to see Madam Wang." Su Mengyan tried her best to calm her down. "First, tell us what this poison is."

"It was the Madam who poisoned the food. She said that only if they were all dead could the sins of the entire city be redeemed." The maid touched the child's face, crying. "Those people outside are behaving like evil spirits. Every day, without asking questions, anyone they see will be scolded or even assaulted."

"They were clearly murderers, but no one punished them. Some even applauded their actions." The maid placed the three bodies together, a smile breaking across her tearful face. "You are the only ones who haven't humiliated the Madam and the Young Master these past few days."

"Thank you." The maid said as she knelt on the ground, and then there was the sound of a dagger piercing into the flesh.

The gushing blood splashed on Su Mengyan's face. She was stunned for a moment, then immediately squatted down, looking at her helplessly and said, "If you die, who will take care of their funeral?"

"Thank you, young lady, for letting me hear more than just dirty insults before I die." Tears streamed down the maid's eyes again. "I have served the Madam for over ten years, and the young master and I have a very good relationship. They are both gentle and kind. If I hadn't been around, they would have been bullied down there."

She grabbed Su Mengyan with her blood-stained hands and said, "You are good people, can you promise me one more thing?"

She was already struggling to speak. Su Mengyan nodded with tears in her eyes, "Go ahead."

"Miss, please help me bury my wife and the others together. The silver is right here, right here..." She stretched out her hand to point out the direction, but finally let it drop powerlessly.

Su Mengyan gently placed her on the ground and said, "Public opinion can kill people, but no one can catch the murderers."

These four innocent lives were implicated by Wang Shouli and killed by the indignant people.

"Life is a cycle of cause and effect. Those who force them to death will eventually get their retribution." Situ Yao wiped the blood off Su Mengyan's hands and comforted her gently.

"I will bury them properly. Don't worry," Situ Yao's comfort made Su Mengyan's nose sore. She saw the murderous intent in Mrs. Wang's eyes at the execution ground, and thought that if she had stopped it at that time, would such a tragedy have happened?

In a sense, they are indirect murderers.

"The two cannot be confused." Situ Yao saw the regret and annoyance in her eyes and corrected her mistake. "If Wang Shouli hadn't been caught, many people in Chu City would have died because of him."

"I know." Su Mengyan lowered her head and said, "I just think that Madam Wang and the others' deaths are so regrettable."

"And there is such a young child who doesn't understand anything yet." Su Mengyan was easily soft-hearted. Even after leaving the Wang family's gate, she still found it difficult to get out of the sad mood.

The next morning, Situ Yao had the family buried, but did not care about Wang Shouli.

It wasn't that they had forgotten him, but that they had done it on purpose. They hadn't found any trace of Wang Shouli's presence in the Wang family yesterday, and there was very little money in the house.

It seemed that Wang Shouli was not only extremely evil, but he also didn't care about his wife and children at home. Su Mengyan felt that Madam Wang definitely didn't want to see him, so she didn't bother to do anything.

"After the Wang family was gone, the people stopped cursing." Su Mengyan sneered.

"They woke up too late. If they had believed what Madam Wang said from the beginning, there wouldn't be this tragedy." Situ Yao curled his lips, "It's only because they were blinded by hatred at the time."

They waited in front of the tomb until the incense burned out before turning around and going down the mountain.

"We're going back tomorrow." Su Mengyan's face was a little tired. "I don't know if anyone will come to burn incense for them in the future."

"We should have bought more offerings." Su Mengyan was very annoyed.

Situ Yao raised his eyelids slightly, motioning her to look behind him, "Someone will remember it."

Su Mengyan saw that after they left, someone came over to burn incense, and it seemed that they were neighbors of the Wang family.

"Mrs. Wang is always friendly to others and has made many good friends. Even if we leave, someone will take care of us." Situ Yao said as he walked, and Su Mengyan also had a relaxed smile on her face.

"Sister Su." Zhao Qing jumped in front of Su Mengyan, "I heard they said you were not here, so I have been waiting for you here."

Su Mengyan pinched his chubby little face and asked, "What do you want from me?"

"Dad said Mom went to a very far place. Does Sister Su know where she went?" Zhao Qing lowered his head in frustration. "I can't find Mom."

The four-year-old child was not even as tall as Su Mengyan's legs and curled up into a small ball.

Su Mengyan led him into the house and gave him a small plate of snacks. "Why did you come here alone?"

"Daddy wouldn't let me go find Mom, so I ran away secretly." Zhao Qing put the snack into his mouth and mumbled, "It's so sweet."

"So you are here to find your mother?" Su Mengyan was afraid that he would choke, so she gave him a sip of water.
