Chapter 330 Going to the Liu Family

After so much going on, the Su and Liu families had already gotten along like close friends. Even with the employee-employee relationship, everyone got along well, keeping public affairs private.

We are all reasonable people, so there is no barrier between us because of this reason.

So after Liu Yunniang told Su Qingluan in the morning that they would officially move in the next day and invite her family to come for a hot pot, Madam Xi came over and told Yang and the others again during the day.

When Yang and Su Guangfu found out, they were surprised and delighted, and offered a series of congratulations.

Mrs. Xi was naturally grinning from ear to ear, and she repeatedly invited the entire Su family to go hotpot together tomorrow.

Yang and Su Guangfu were still hesitating, but Su Qingluan smiled and said, "Father and Mother, I already promised Yunniang this morning!"

"Great!" Yang smiled and tapped Su Qingluan's forehead. "Little girl, we two still don't know what's going on, but you two have already communicated with each other?"

Of course, Su Qingluan knew that although her mother said this in a reproachful tone, she did not really mean to blame her, she was just joking.

When Mrs. Xi heard that the Su family had agreed, she naturally smiled and said that she was waiting for them to come together to warm the pot. Then she went back to her own pancake stall and each of them was busy greeting their own guests.

Su Qingluan thought that she had to bring a gift with her when she went to the hot pot restaurant. She couldn't go empty-handed, right? So she discussed it with her parents.

After a few people murmured for a long time, they finally decided that compared to fancy names, for ordinary people, the practical things in life are more important.

So the next day, when the Su family set up their stall as usual, whether it was Aunt Yang and Skinny Monkey, or the customers who were more familiar with them, they all joked, "I say, you have pots and pans, teacups and plates, and jars in your house. Are you moving or something?"

Mrs. Xi was buying pancakes across the street. She was quite some distance away from the Su family's stall, so she couldn't see the situation here clearly.

It was just after noon, and the Su family's offal was almost sold out. Madam Xi also wanted to close the stall early, but she saw the pile of pots and bowls placed behind the Su family and was overjoyed.

"Brother Su, sister-in-law, are you going to set up a stall in my house?" Madam Xi couldn't help but teasing.

Su Qingluan also knew that her family had accidentally bought a little too much, so she explained, "Aunt, you may not know this, but we all feel that it's more practical to give you something you can actually use rather than those fancy things—it's just that everyone has a slightly different standard for what's the most practical."

It's more than just "a little" different. Yesterday, the whole family almost had a quarrel over what gift to bring to the Liu family's "hot pot" -

Yang believed that the most frequently used tableware were plates and bowls, which would be easily broken and would cause a lot of loss; as a chef, Su Qingluan would definitely think of kitchen utensils such as pots and knives first, not to mention that kitchen utensils made of fine iron were very expensive, and the Liu family would not be willing to buy them for the time being; while Su Guangfu believed that some common furniture was more necessary.

In the end, everyone thought they were right, and they simply bought what they thought were the most practical things, bringing them in big and small bags - and then the Su family's stall became a peddler's stall.

Originally, Madam Xi refused to accept all these things no matter what, until Su Qingluan resorted to her rogue tactics - since we have already bought them, we can't return them, we won't take them home, and it would be a waste if we throw them away.

Of course, she couldn't be so blunt and rude when she actually said it, but that was the meaning.

So Yang stayed to pick up her son and went home to pick up her youngest daughter. Su Qingluan and her father, led by Madam Xi, walked towards the Liu family's new home - of course, they all had various pots and pans in their hands.

The scene was so spectacular that Liu Yunniang, who had come out to greet them, couldn't help but blurt out, "Mother, did you go robbing without telling my father and me?"

Madam Xi glared at Liu Yunniang unhappily: "Do I need to rob people? It's because I'm popular!"

Except for Su Guangfu who was a taciturn person, everyone else was lively and they walked in together chatting and laughing.

From the very beginning, Su Qingluan had been sizing up the newly rented courtyard of the Liu family. Although it was only a small courtyard with two entrances and located close to the edge of the city, it was a full quarter-hour walk from the bustling market—you have to know that in a small town like Lefeng, a quarter-hour walk would already be considered quite remote—it was clean.

A two-story courtyard naturally didn't have any elegant gardens to look forward to; having a front and back yard was already nice enough. However, even with the front and back yards, it was clear that the Liu family hadn't had time to thoroughly clean them. The rocks and weeds in the middle had been cleared, but tall weeds still grew in the cracks around the walls, tall enough to hide most of a person.

Madam Xi noticed Su Qingluan's gaze and sighed, "We moved in such a hurry that we didn't take good care of the yard. I'm really sorry to have embarrassed you, Madam Su."

Su Qingluan didn't mind at all: "It's nothing. Moving is always a hustle and bustle. If Madam Xi needs anything, just tell me. I will definitely come to help."

Liu Yunniang and Su Qingluan were already good friends, so their conversation became more casual. So, she teased, "If I asked you to cook a dish, you might be able to do it, but this kind of work..." She looked Su Qingluan up and down, and gestured at the area next to her ear, "This grass is taller than you, isn't it?"

"Hey!" Why are you making personal attacks for no reason?

Although Madam Xi knew that Su Qingluan wasn't petty, she still felt that her daughter was a bit outspoken, so she joked, "Madam Su can cook well and manage business. What's the point of someone like you just being a big fool?"

"Look, my mother doesn't like my own daughter!" Liu Yunniang pretended to be Xishi holding her heart, which made everyone laugh again.

Although the Su family brought a large number of pots, pans, and utensils, they were mostly things that could be used on a daily basis. And just as Su Qingluan had expected, the Liu family didn't have the money to buy fine iron pots and knives yet, so although the few items Su Qingluan bought could be considered "luxury goods", they were actually very useful.

Since you have decided to eat hot pot, even if it does not require special cooking skills, it is still necessary to prepare a variety of vegetables in advance.

Yang's main force had not arrived yet, so Madam Xi and Liu Yunniang were busy washing and cutting vegetables and preparing seasonings, sauces and pot bases.

Su Qingluan used the fine iron kitchen knife she had just bought to cut the various meats for today.

As for the two male owners, they were muttering to each other and went to see where in this somewhat dilapidated yard needed urgent repairs.
