Chapter 12 Gunpowder

The system's intelligence was probably not that strong. Apart from the initial electronic voice, after Yun Qing finished speaking, there was no further response except for a semi-transparent light screen appearing in front of her.

The sudden arrival of the system delighted Yun Qing. She immediately realized that she had obtained the legendary cheat code. Without caring whether there was a response or not, she directly started to look through the screen and found that there were many things she needed right now.

All of these are methods built upon the foundation of the Great Xi Dynasty, which can improve various aspects without being too far ahead of their time. However, now everything is a dull gray, with only the gunpowder formula at the very top being lit up.

This must be the newbie gift the system was referring to.

The problem that was giving Yun Qing a headache was immediately solved.

Only newbie gifts are so generous. Yun Qing looked at the methods for doing other things and found that they all required Happiness Points to exchange for, which were quite expensive and very difficult to obtain.

Even so, Yunqing was already quite satisfied. There's always a way out, and it's still early, so everything can proceed step by step.

She carefully copied down the gunpowder formula and precautions she had obtained before finally putting down her pen, rubbing her sore wrists, and stepping out to find the butler.

Uncle Jiang was watching the servants prepare medicine for Yun Qing. She had been poisoned and her health was damaged. She needed some time to recuperate properly, and the gentle medicine was essential.

When Yun Qing came looking for him, Uncle Jiang keenly sensed something unusual.

"Young master, is there anything you wish to instruct me to do?"

The two found a secluded corner together, and had guards watch over it to ensure that no servants would disturb them, before Yun Qing told them everything.

"I suddenly remembered seeing a method in an ancient book that could greatly increase the army's power during battle. I think this should be of some help to us."

Humans are tool-using animals. In fact, during this era, some people had already begun to explore the uses of gunpowder, but none of them were comprehensive, and it was not used in the military. Yun Qing was taking advantage of this time difference.

When the secret weapon is unleashed, it will surely catch all enemies off guard.

Uncle Jiang looked at her, his breath catching in his throat: "You mean, making weapons?"

Yun Qing nodded slowly: "This is not a decision I can make alone, so I would like to ask Uncle Jiang for his opinion."

The Li clan has been able to stand strong for so many years because it has its own trump cards. In addition to its well-trained secret guards and assassins, it also has its own workshops and shops, forming a relatively independent chain, which is Yun Qing's most powerful support.

"If the head of the family and his wife knew, they would be very happy." Uncle Jiang, despite his advanced age, almost teared up. "This matter is very good, but it must be kept secret. Young master, you can rest assured and leave it to me."

Yun Qing then took out the paper she had copied and made a point of saying, "The workers making it must be extremely careful. I will check on the progress regularly."

The suggestion came from Yun Qing. She couldn't just be a hands-off manager from beginning to end, and to prevent any unexpected events, she had to be especially careful.

Uncle Jiang agreed repeatedly, and after saying a few more words, he parted ways with Yun Qing.

As it was getting dark, Yunqing remembered her promise from that morning. Since she had nothing else to do, she asked a servant to find some tools and started tinkering around in the room, making a lot of clanging and banging noises.

Diancui watched nervously beside her until the result was revealed, at which point her eyes lit up.

It was a small crossbow bolt, which could be easily strapped to the arm and completely concealed by the wide sleeves of a garment.

Yun Qing tried it out, and the accuracy was pretty good.

Diancui seemed to understand her intention: "Young master, are you planning to give this to His Majesty?"

"Yes." Yun Qing nodded. "His Majesty also needs some self-defense items. I will prepare some more later."

Once she fully immersed herself in the role of the Grand Tutor, Yun Qing felt that her actions were not at all out of place. She couldn't help but sigh that she was truly a good teacher who cared for her students.

Diancui smiled and replied, "His Majesty will be very pleased."
