Chapter 120 "A Late-Night Talk by Candlelight"

This is something that's hard to talk about. Besides, apart from this aspect, all of Xie Rang's behavior is in line with that of a wise and virtuous ruler, so Yun Qing naturally couldn't use his own standards to evaluate him.

She was a little surprised that Xie Rang agreed so easily. When officials were being evaluated, it was just a matter of glancing at their documents, and the workload wasn't much. Yun Qing accepted the offer.

Anyway, it's much easier than continuing to hold the position concurrently.

Having successfully finalized the matter, Yunqing and Xie Rang chatted casually.

Putting aside those ambiguous feelings, the fact that she and Xie Rang could sit together so naturally felt different from what she had seen in modern times.

Yun Qing chuckled to herself, thinking to herself that she was overthinking things.

Who knows how long the boy's enthusiasm will last? She just needs to let nature take its course.

Too much river wind gave him a headache, and since it was almost time, Xie Rang said, "Let's go downstairs. If we get sick, Mr. Yu will nag the Grand Tutor again."

Yun Qing recalled the fear of being dominated by Mr. Yu: "Okay."

As she spoke, she was about to get up, but she vaguely sensed something was wrong and her heart skipped a beat.

Oh no!

Recently, because of Xie Rang's matter, Yun Qing was inevitably worried and even forgot that her period was about to start.

Even the most meticulous plans can have a flaw, and it just so happened that it occurred in front of Xie Rang.

"What happened to the Grand Tutor?"

Yun Qing hadn't fully expressed her thoughts, and Xie Rang assumed it was something urgent, but after a quick glance, he couldn't discern anything amiss.

"It's nothing." Yun Qing suppressed her emotions, already thinking about how to part ways with Xie Rang and go back to her room first. "Go downstairs."

As she got up, she glanced at the chair and only felt slightly relieved after confirming that there was nothing amiss.

Xie Rang's doubts remained unresolved, and this feeling reached its peak after he descended.

Yun Qing said, "I will go back to my room to rest first, and then come to accompany Your Majesty later."

Yun Qing was not used to hiding anything from Xie Rang, and didn't even bother to make up reasons, directly stating her thoughts.

Xie Rang had some doubts, but he couldn't refuse: "Alright, Grand Tutor, get some rest. There's no rush."

Yun Qing nodded without changing her expression: "Mm."

She appeared calm, but her steps quickened slightly as she turned around. Xie Rang's gaze followed her subconsciously, and when he looked away, he seemed to inadvertently notice a red stain on the hem of her dress.

Xie Rang's mind went blank. His first thought was whether the Grand Tutor had been injured and hadn't told him. Then he quickly came to his senses. Yun Qing was by his side every day. How could she possibly be injured?

Suddenly, a thought flashed through Xie Rang's mind, and he remembered something—

A woman will have her period.

So what was that just now...?

Xie Rang suddenly blushed.

Since discovering that the Grand Tutor was a woman, many previously overlooked details have become noticeable. However, knowing the reason, he no longer needs to worry.

Hearing that women suffer during their periods, Xie Rang wanted to show concern, but couldn't find a suitable reason, so he had to give up in frustration.

The Grand Tutor was unwilling to tell him about this, so he had to keep it to himself.

...

We returned to our room safely, without any major incident.

Yunqing's health has been restored by Mr. Yu, and she no longer suffers from menstrual cramps. This time, she was unprepared and almost gave herself away in front of the little tyrant, but luckily she managed to fool him.

When Yunqing took off her clothes, she noticed bloodstains on them. Qinglan offered to help her wash them, but Yunqing shook her head: "The ship is full of His Majesty's confidants. It's alright. I'll just wash and dry them in my room."

Knowing the young master's personality, Qinglan said nothing, only saying, "Young master, be careful."

The female bodyguards beside Yun Qing were there to cover for her. Qing Lan was the leader among them, and they were all extremely worried about Yun Qing's situation, especially her current predicament, which was truly heartbreaking.

Yun Qing had no chance to make mistakes.

"You've all worked hard too." Yun Qing took a sip of tea to calm herself down. "I've been overthinking things lately."

Xie Rang was very sincere when he spoke frankly, and he did touch Yun Qing's heart to some extent, but he did not take any radical actions after that, as if he was just telling Yun Qing to adapt slowly.

Even the little tyrant remained calm, but she was the one who lost her composure first; that's really not right.

After quickly washing and drying her clothes, Yun Qing felt a bit unwell. It wasn't that she was uncomfortable, but she just didn't want to move. In the end, she sent Qing Lan to inform Xie Rang, and then comfortably wrapped herself in a blanket and took a nap on the small couch.

Leisurely days are rare, and no one is calling her. Yun Qing has no sense of time when she falls asleep. When she wakes up again, it is already evening. She drowsily rubs against herself and then wakes up.

I didn't realize something was wrong until I opened my eyes.

When did I get back to bed?

Before her thoughts could even process what was happening, Yun Qing heard footsteps approaching, and then the candlelight in the room was lit.

The young man walked slowly to her bedside, his features appearing exceptionally gentle in the dim light: "Grand Tutor, are you awake?"

Despite the gentle tone, Yun Qing suddenly felt a chill run down her spine, and her eyelashes trembled: "Did you carry me to bed?"

Given Xie Rang's status, it would be even stranger if Qinglan had stopped him, and might have revealed even more flaws.

I wouldn't go back to bed for no reason, so that's the only answer.

“Yes.” Xie Rang smiled kindly. “It’s not comfortable to sleep on the small couch. When I came in, the Grand Tutor was almost falling off.”

[Nonsense, I sleep very properly!]

Yun Qing was unsure whether to expose his lie, but fortunately, her clothes were still intact, so she didn't have too many thoughts about it.
